Morning ladies... I was just wondering if anyone has used DOMPERIDONE to help increase there milk... Jake is now 10 weeks old this week and this happend bout this time with my other 2 kids but i wasnt so worried and just put them on the bottle... However jake will be my last forever (got tubes tied) which is wat i wanted so thereofer i want to try n feed him as long as I can.. My milk has dropped off he cries after feeding from me and i try to get him to feed frq but he just gets unsettled soon as I give him a bot of formula being 150mls he drinks the whole thing most the time n is contant as they come... So im doing half boob feeds coz if he doesnt feed from me for a feed by the next feed he drinks from me there seems to be enough if u get me... So i tried expressing after every feed n every 3 hrs n stuff, im eating those lactation bickies like mad, my diet seems fine one cup of coffee a day n no chocolate n stuff, drink plenty of water i jsut dont kno what else i can do... So im thinking this might help being the meds.. so please let me kno if u used it n if u had success... thanks for ur time...

I have no idea about using that drug to increase supply but have you tried lactation boosting cookies or other lactation boosting food? Many bf mummies swear by these. There is a sticky in the bf section with a recipe or alternatively you can just google for the recipe.

Best of luck x

I used Domperidone (Motillium) to increase my supply. I also went to the health food shop and got blessed thistle which definitely helped & from the chemist I got some Fenugreek.

Sounds like a lot but it helped increase my supply  Just go to your GP and ask them for a script or you could try the natural stuff first :) Good luck, you are doing a great job

When DS was about 8w my young brother was killed in an accident and my breastmilk was amost gone in about 48 hours. I used Domperidone and it worked great for me-just make sure the GP you see tells you how to take it ( mine didn't-the CHN told me). Actually-here is how you take it-2 tabs x3 per day for a week, then 2 tabs 2 x a day for a week then 2 tabs once a day for a week. I had to come of it really slowly though as it dropped off really quick and has never been quite the same. Now I am taking Fenugreek tablets which work well-not as good as Domperidone though.

It's worked great for me. But like lozie said it's hard to stop I started at 11 weeks I think and am still on it.
I try motilium if you need it and any other thing that could help. (i also eat the cookies and take fenugreek.

With taking these tablets you still need to pump more. Supply =demand

I take motilium only two a day and find I have to pump at least twice in the middle of the night my boobs are so big., and sometimes once in the morning. So tiring after u bf that's the last thing u want to do

they are great i was on them for 7 months. I'd actually ask for a 100tablet script, it costs the same as a 30 tablet one. you may need to see a BF friendly GP

I tried Domperidone and didn't notice much difference really. There may have been more milk, but it certainly wasn't noticeable to me. My reason for boosting my supply was a very low weight gain for DS, not because my supply felt low at all. By pumping and offering him the top ups of EBM we managed to get him to gain 270g that week!

If you want to increase your supply the first thing I'd sugest is throw away the formula! Every feed of formula you give your baby is one feed your breasts think they no longer have to provide for.

I managed to increase my supply mainly by pumping. I would latch DS on one side, and pump from the other during the letdown (I found that easier than trying to pump from a unstimulated breast at first), and I'd also pump first thing in the morning before he got to them as they were always fairly full then.

I would put him on the breast, let him feed until he was done, wait 30 mins, then top him up with my expressed milk.

The other thing to check is whether you are actually losing supply or just misinterpreting your baby's signs. Your milk settles down after a while and you can stop getting the engorgement or full feeling, but it doesn't always mean your supply is the problem - most times it's quite normal and just your body adjusting beautifully to your baby's demands. Babies go through stages of being more unsettled, needing more comfort (which can mean more suckling at the breast) that are totally unrelated to hunger.
