My DD has been on formula for the most part of her life. We firstly started off with S-26 Gold for the first 2 1/2 months of her life and found out that was what was causing her constipation:thumbsdown: So I have been really weary of what I give her to eat and drink. I then switched her to Nan HA 1 Gold formula and it seemed to do the trick, it's really good for her but it is not good for my wallet:no: lol it is around $18-$22 and well I went out today and bought Heinz Nurture.. I am a little worried about how she will go with it, and actually a little scared that it may constipate her or mess with her tummy and I surely don't want that, but it is sooo much cheaper. Does anyone else use Heinz Nurture? is it good? I am going to give it a shot once the rest of the Nan is finished. I kind of feel like a bad mummy for switching to a cheaper formula...maybe i'm just wierd, LOL..
 Mummy2Amelia,
Your not a bad mummy for wanting a cheaper option at all, and to be honest there was a thread not long ago saying that the cheaper formulas were no different to the expensive ones.
I say give it a go, lots of mums use the heinz nurture and very happy with it. I use karicare, Bailey had a lot of problems with colic and wind when he was born but at this age i think they are alot stronger and probably cope better too. I switched and changed to find the right one too, in the early days he needed the sensicare, $21 a tin:eek: But now the normal karicare in healthpoint chemist is $14.95 and he is fine with it!
Good Luck on what ever you decide, and no matter what, your a great mum!

Aww! Don't think your a bad mum for wanting to switch!! :hugs:
We'll be starting of with S-26 Gold, as long as there are no problems.
But when she starts needing more and more and more... we may have to think about switching to a cheaper brand.
With that said, heaps of people use heinz and find no problems with it at all!!
So don't worry, your doing a great job! :hugs:

The thing I was warned about by the doctor, is that you cant switch them directly to a different formula, I was told to alternate between formulas so that it adjusts their stomachs to it gradually.
I used S-26 Gold too, and he is now on S-26 Gold Toddler, but I dont ever buy mine from the supermarket (unless in an emergency), as its always more expensive. I have found that quiet a few chemists sell all different brands at bargain prices....oh, and when bub gets to 12 months the toddler formula is cheaper than steps 1 & 2.....and it lasts longer as if you add it to cows milk it's only to taste.....
Dont worry about wanting to use something cheaper, with the costs of everything now-a days it's really understandable....
Goodluck....
I started on S26 Gold, then switched to NAN 1HA Gold when DS was 2 months old. Just over a week ago I switched him to Heinz Nurture & apart from 3 days of explosive diarrhea once a day, we havent had any problems at all. I should just add that DS is also teething so it may not have been the switch that caused the diarrhea. He is still sleeping fine, likes the taste - i dont think he has even noticed the difference. His poo's are fine now, like I said it was just the first couple of days (oh and they have lost that horrible green colour that NAN provides!) Sorry if TMI!

I have always used the Amcal Formula, and never had any worries. It's only $13.95 for a 980g tin. It's fine to use something cheaper.

Thanks for all your help:hugs:
I also buy my formula from my local discount chemist:thumbsup: only thing is they have upped their price on Nan from $13.95 to $17.95...still cheaper then the supermarkets though!
But I just picked up the Heinz Nurture for $10.95 on special so I thought why not and i'll be saving like $15 a fortnight on average. I don't know why but I just feel a bit guilty for changing to a cheaper brand, not that it is any different really, and like she really knows anyway lol
I have been using the Heinz nurture formulas for about 9 months now (Bug hates cows milk) and we haven't had any problems. Despite the fact that it is so much cheaper, i think its a really good formula and have no intention of switching back.

I didn't know that, I feel so bad. I don't think it affected her at all, but now I'm not sure. :(

Maybe a day, not long at all. I've noticed that his poos are a bit firmer since switching to Heinz too - still smelly of course but a little more solid.
