Another thread has given me the courage to ask this question, and thought I would start a new thread to ask the question.
Do third nipples lactate?

Had a little google...
Apparently there are different 'levels' of extra nipples, and depending of which level you're looking at, some may lactate. They, obviously, need to have the appropriate glands attached to though.
I can't imagine anyone breastfeeding from them though - even if they leak a little milk, they're usually only little mole-like things... not like, an extra nipple and areola that looks exactly like the other two.

A useful skill. I'm now dreaming of having one on my foot, or somewhere my toddler could feed without smothering me to death.

Awesome. So it really depends on where on the body its located as to if it lactates or not.

among other things. Supernumery nipples on the chest/breast don't always lactate though. Sometimes they're completely superficial (ie along the lines of having a mole) and sometimes they're fully functioning nipples...It just depends on their development :)

I'm sorry to say that mine does. It is only a small amount that can be expressed off, as there is a small amount of breast tissue. Mine is in the crease under my breast and you may have read in another thread that I have been having problems associated with it, and a Dr asked me if I feed DD from it, the thought of which nearly made me :barf:, If I tried I'm sure I would suffocate her under I cup breasts. Should I ever give birth to a litter of pups I might need to consider using it .
