View Full Version : have no idea
Df and I got engaged in July 07 a short time later found out we were pregnant so the thought of a engagement partie got put on the back burner.
Its only just now were wanting to plan one in hopefully 2 - 3 months time
Problem is I cant pick where and money while its not a big issue we dont have truck loads to spend
Is a low key BBQ type event in a nice park tackie or not ?? I couldnt really care what everone else thinks I just dont want to regret it later on

Oh I hear you, we have been engaged since July 2006  have had 2 children since then and just can't seem to afford/time getting married with DFs parents being able to come.
I have thought about a bring a picnic to a park wedding and having a civil ceremony, I don't think it is tacky  but DFs parents are here in October so we are probably going to do a ceremony at the registry office (quite nice) and then dinner at a nice restaurant, not a wedding feast, just a pay for your own dinner thing, we don't need anything gift wise so I am happy to ask people to pay for a meal.
That sounds lovly
I orginally wanted a suprise wedding but Df isnt really going with that idea as his not wanting the wedding for a while off yet in his words till were on our own feet :( apparntly were not but pttf what ever

I actually think I'd be more inclined to regret a huge wedding than a smaller, casual one.
Looking back and thinking, "Yeah, THAT cost me $25000!" would be much more upsetting than thinking, "We had a great day, even if I didn't have a really pricey wedding dress or whatever."
I'd say pick the things that are really important to you, and be cheap with the rest. Say, if you want a really nice wedding cake, make sure you get one... but there's no need to spend a lot of invites, table settings, etc.
Thanks everyone
well we decided today to skip the engagement party and just use that money towards the wedding orginally we had not picked a date to get married and it seemed to be a very long way off now Jan next year is the plan :D Lets just hope I can plan a wedding in 8 months

Your welcome to my dress if your interested and want a nice big fancy one, never worn or altered, I'm trying to sell it :o
I have some material I was going to use for bridesmaids that my mum bought so I am planning on using that to make a less extravagant dress.
