For DD2's birthday DH & I are making her a Dora The Explorer cake. We're not sure on what it will look like exactly but am just wondering if there are certain place that stock things that will help us.

Like little statues of Dora or whoever, shape tins, icings? Never made a feature cake before... so, please help otherwise I'll just give the kid a muesli bar with a candle. Lol. I'm joking..

there would be no candle.

you can get those little dora figurines at places like kmart and bigw in the toy section..usually with a couple of animals too.

im doing a diego one for my ds this year and am going to decorate the cake with a jungle (there is one in the womens weekly cake book) and then stick a diego figurine with some animal figurines around..and baby jaguar of course!

where abouts are you? there are a few really good cake decorating shops on the northside of bris..if that helps pm me and ill let u know where abouts :)

Thanks for your reply.

I hadn't thought of using little toys lol, I was so focused on the eating part haha.

I'm on the Gold Coast.

Is that Jungle Cake thing in the cake book current? Can I find it online?

Thanks :)

There are some cake tins and decorating sets on ebay that might give you some ideas or be worth looking at.

I got a Dora face cake pattern/instructions from the nickleodeon website. But that was almost 2yrs ago!
Most party suppliers or large cake stores/bakeries should stock what you need.

Jaxcoop made an awesome Diego cake ... will go find it an link (here (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=326421&highlight=diego+cake))

To do a Dora scene on top of a plain cake - I would get the Dora megablocks sets as the figurines and scenes in it are lighter and better for cakes.

Otherwise, last year I did a Dora cake with just an edible icing thing which was great. Katie loved it.

My mum did a great Dora cake for my son's step sister a couple of years ago. It looked fantastic and not too difficult to do.

It was a regular round cake tin and she just decorated the top as her face. She used licorice straps for her hair. Can't remember too much else. If I find a pic, or remember to ask her about it I will repost further details.

I did a Dora cake for DD's third birthday...it wasn't flash, but the kids liked it. I'll see if I can find a pic.

You're better than me! I had a Dora Cake for my DDs 2nd birthday but got the shop to make it!

Good luck ... you can go to woollies and buy the little Dora figurines - that looks cute and maybe just do the cake shaped like her head ???
