I am desperately searching for answers, information, advice or suggestions (anything!) about sperm viscosity.

Is anyone out there in bubhub land having issues in this area????

My DF has had 2 SA's done in the last 2 months. The first test was dismal in quality, but the 2nd test showed some improvement (started him on supplements straight after the first test). But both tests showed increased viscosity. I am unaware of what scale it was based on. But I think it could be the Kruger test.

His sperm concentration was around 40 million/ml in both tests.
Morphology was 5% in the first test, but jumped to 15% in the 2nd test.
Motility is a bit iffy, but from the research I have done, it seems that sperm quality could very well be affected by the increased viscosity. So this is my area of concern.

He is currently taking:
Zinc
Co Enzyme Q10
Vitamin C
Menevit

We have also tried robitussen (cough syrup) to help thin out mucus. But I am unsure how useful this is.
I desperately do not want to go down the IVF/IUI road!
We are still waiting for our Urologist appointment (still 4 weeks away) and I am trying to do or find anything that can help in the mean time.
Does anyone know anything about increased sperm viscosity?????

I was concerned about my husbands increased viscosity also, as I was concerned that may mean it was too thick, or coagulating, to be able to swim and be motile as well as implant. When I raised this as a concern to the fertility specialist, he said seeing as my husband's count was high and motility was good, even with an increased count of abnormal forms and increased viscosity he did not view this as an issue. Our second sperm analysis was done with their company months after the first one was done with QML and while they did not give us figures, they said it all appeared normal. Everything I had researched indicated an issue if viscosity was higher than average, but Dr Keeping just wasn't worried, so perhaps check with your fertility specialist for their opinion, but maybe read less off the internet?!! That is what I had to do, as I was really getting my knickers in a twist panicking over what I read. I have just finished round two of 50mg clomid, so if I get pregnant even given his viscosity, I will let you know!!

Thanks 5fornow. I hope you have more luck than me!

I'm mostly concerned because his sperm quality isn't all that great either, and in the first test it was very low, with everything but sperm concentration being well below normal . We have been doing everything I can think of to improve the quality, and the supplements might be helping with that, but overall the doctor seems to think there could be a problem. Even with the slight improvements in the second test.
