Hi Everyone,
Well I got home yesterday afternoon and am feeling fantastic and over the moon with the new addition to my family.
When I last posted my waters had broken at 7am Sunday morning and I had been to the hospital to get checked out and at that stage I was having no pains so I went home, I was to go back to the hospital at 9pm for antibiotics if labour hadnt started.
As the day went on I started getting little twinges at about 3pm, but they where very spiratic and didnt really have any bite to them.
By 6pm the pains where getting quite regular and beginning to intensify. By 7.30pm my contractions where 2 minutes apart and beginning to become unbearable and I was uncomfortable at home so DP and I said goodnight to DD and headed to the hospital.
The car trip to the hospital was so awful, and walking up the corridor of the hospital to the maternity ward was like step, step, pain, step, step, pain.
We got into the birthing suite just before 8pm, the contractions were coming hard and fast, they felt like they where on top of each other. I was offered gas and pethadine, but said no and was just begging for an epidural. After being at the hospital for about 20min the middi gave me an internal and said I was only 5cm dialated, I was devistated. She said not to be upset as it was my second bub and things could progress really quickly.
I got up and got under the shower and begged and pleaded for an epidural, but the midwife said I was in transition and it would be pointless to organise, because bub would be here soon. DP and I thought this was wrong as DD took 19 hours to be born and I was only 5cm so I was thinking at least another 5 hours to go.
With all this happening all of a sudden I felt the urge to push, whilst in the shower so the middi got a mat for me to kneal on and I got on all fours and the next contraction I pushed and his head came out and then the next push and he was born.
In the end the middi was right, only 1/2 an hour after being told I was 5cm dialted, he was born. My only pain relief was a very hot shower and a piece of ice.
So basically I was in labour for about 2 1/2 hours, only at the hospital for an hour and 2 pushes and Cooper John was born a very healthy 8 pound 9 ounces and 54cm long. I had no stitches and came home less than 24 hours after the birth, I am feeling great.
Thank you all for reading my story, I do have 2 tips though for those of you yet to have their bubs,
1. Being on all fours really helped me as I think gravity was deffinately on my side.
2. Buy some ural and drink this after bubs is born, this will be a god send for those with a very sensitive nether region after a natural birth.
Talk to you all soon.
LOL
