Wishing: Ive done the same thing re: presents. We've actually got all the nieces and nephews covered for bdays and xmas this year already as I know it's going to be hectic. I even have some of the bday presents for bdays that are very early in the year next year since we will be overseas until the start of Jan.
Nikki LOL@ your DH and his eagerness!
Wow you girls are organised. People will be lucky to get anything from us this year!!
Wishing try http://www.pregnancyandparenting.com.au/main/page_exercise_mum__bub_exercise_classes.html it's $16 a session.
I tend to send vouchers most of the time because my family all live so far away. My mum will be here a few days after her birthday though, so I need to find something in the next week.
I'm exhausted today, I do not want to make dinner tonight might see if someone else can do it. I really can not be bothered and if no-one else will do it then I'm going to eat a sandwich.

thanks for sending the details Jet, looks good.
Pleasure Wishing, might see ya there :)
Nikki I know what you mean, I'm falling asleep on the couch here!
Beans on toast it is, with some scrambled eggs.
Yum! I made chicken and chorizo pilaf. And I'm having a fake beer with it! Almost feel human again :)
angeleish

jetgirl - I want your dinner!! Love chorizo and the thought of beer (even if it is fake) is very appealing!
Nikki - nothing wrong with beans and eggs. One of our favourites here!!
Angeleish I'll try scanning the recipe in tomorrow if you like. It's pretty darn good, easy to make and keeps my BSLs low!
Last night it was egg on toast :) I am dying for some runny eggs though!!

22-04-2010, 19:25
jet- i ate a runny egg this morning :o i knowwww i am not meant to but ooohhh it was yummy.
I just got home. went to the supermarket after work yuck. Now going to cook something realllll quick
Jet - I am going to plan to go out for breakfast and have a poached egg a few weeks after the baby is born. If the baby cries DH can fuss over it, I'll have earned my runny egg!
Angeleish - it's a simple dish that keeps my BSL within range and fills me up. Can't ask for more than that ;)
Hopeful - I am looking forward to having my eggs runny again soon! Maybe a few late night bacon and egg sandwiches on the cards or make-shift dinners in between BFing.
I like that plan Nikki!!!!
angeleish
22-04-2010, 20:48
yummmm runny eggs. Can't wait to have them again. I'm hoping they are on the hospital menu.
Jet - I would love that recipe. DH and I have an obsession with Chorizo and feel obliged to eat it whenever we see it on the menu.
LOL angeleish I love it too. Remind me if I forget!! Would love if runny eggs were on the hospy menu!
EarthAngel75

I'm with hopeful and have eaten runny eggs LOL I'm not so afraid of samonella as Ive had it a number of times (bloody chicken!) and there is just no way i could have given them up as DH and I have cooked breakie every weekend.
Your dinner sounds Yum Jet! I make a couscous salad that has feta cheese, olives and chorizo sausage in it that is yummy - can't wait to have it again.
Nikki: one thing i want to do after the birth is go out for breakfast and get eggs benny with smoked salmon - ohh how ive missed thee hehe
Oh eggs Benedict with ham yes please!!!
Oh eggs Benedict with ham yes please!!!

Good morning everyone :)
I had a rotten nights sleep last night. Was tossing and turning - then had a night owl friend send an sms at some ungodly hour and then DH sends me a sms this morning at 530am worrying his luggage will be overweight for the plane and woke me up. Good thing I can make myself a nice latte when I'm so tired in the morning although I almost didnt find the energy!
Ive been finding the 25c days we've been having a little warm (well in the upstairs part of our house anyways) so I am really looking forward to the cooler weather that's coming our way this weekend.
What's everyone up to on the long weekend?

Morning All
I had a great night sleep but I want to sleep in grrr.. tomorrow morning I can! and then its only like 4 more days! Potentially three as I am not sure I will go to work after my monash appt wednesday- can't believe it, i am so excited to start maternity leave!
Now I have 2 questions this morning lol. 1- I have noticed that I have been like cold sweating lately? anyone else noticed this or is it just me lol.. its not that I am hot, just that I start to feel all clammy and my face starts sweating.. its yuck and annoying!
Also 2- (maybe u can answer this earth, u seem to be the cat expert lol) my cat wont stop killing at the moment and trying to bring these dead gross things inside to me! Even after I got her the bell wednesday she killed bird that night and DH said she was adament to bring it inside! Now, I dont want her killing birds and stuff and I don't want them inside. Is she doing it because I am pregnant? Before hand she would kill on the odd occasion but she has had like three killings at least this week alone!!!

mum2haylz - I'm sure 6 weeks will fly in no time. (oh and with 6 weeks to go I had hardly anything organised either... I'm sure you'll be fine). Don't forget to keep popping in and keeping us updated.
earth - sorry about the crappy sleep. Hopefully the latte will make up for it!!
hopeful - can't help you with either of your questions. Sorry. Not much longer until mat. leave though!!! woo hoo!!!
hopeful - the only time I get the sweats is when I am having a hypo, I think that's the body going into a state of shock. Maybe go see someone if it's a new and sudden symptom?
Earthangel - I could do with some cooler weather too, help me sleep better at night too.
mum2haylz - glad things are going well for you, hopefully you'll sail effortlessly to the finish line :)
Honest opinion girls, I am getting a bit cranky lately and very pedantic. I feel like for the past 6 months all we've had are visitors, my SIL is here at the moment and will still be here after bub is born, then my mum arrives for three weeks, then a few weeks later my MIL for the unforseeable future. I'm starting to panic that DH and me won't get to enjoy having our baby all to ourselves and having our own lives for ages. Plus to add to it all, I feel like having guests means I can't do what I want in my house, I still have to do all the grocery shops, cleaning etc. I'm getting really overwhelmed by it all and DH doesn't seem to understand why I am getting so antsy with only 1.5 weeks until bub arrives. Am I being irrational?
sparklesare
23-04-2010, 09:56
Absolutely no to being irrational, I will jump right on the cranky couch with you. I've also got MIL and FIL coming down now for the birth and staying here with us for 3 weeks including the week of the birth and the following 2 weeks. MIL will tell me everything from how to change a nappy to how the twins should have a nursery each and tbh I can't be bothered with it all. I'm snappy now as it's fast becoming a reality that they are going to be here, my bubbies are too and my boobies are probably going to be hanging out everywhere for all to see while I get my head bf!!! I relate to feeling like you can't do what you want in your own home, I have the added stress of feeling like it has to be cleaned and meals done etc. I could go on here but it's just me venting again and don't want to drag you down in it. Know I'm on that cranky couch too. There has been some interesting conversations this wk about how the next couple of weeks and months are going to work, jury's out IMO. My only thing I care abt us quality time with DH and my bubs. everything else will just have to suck it up and wait. Vent over!!!

23-04-2010, 09:58
Oh and in good news off to th OB at 12 to see how we are travelling!!! :-)
Thanks for your input Sparkles - I think like you my biggest fear is while people say they are going to help out, in the end I've noticed when I have guests a lot of the housekeeping and cooking and shopping still falls on me and on top of it I have different tastes to meet. DH says I should just let people do their own thing but it's not always that easy when you are all living under one roof. No-one else thinks to replace the milk when it runs out or sweep the floor or stack the dishwasher!
Part of me just wants to be cocooned in my house for at least a little while with our new addition and DH, enjoying time as a family without having additional family to entertain. I know my mum will be really helpful but it's different with her because she is MY mum and she will look after me while I look after bub. I just want bub to come first for a while and not feel like I have other people to consider.
Good luck at the OB, hopefully the babies are doing what they are supposed to and getting ready for the big day!
Nikki, Sparkles, you have every right to be on the cranky couch. I wouldn't cope at all.
hopefulmama2b
23-04-2010, 11:23
omg girls, i would be on the cranky couch too. We are lucky, my mum and dad are 10-15 mins away so they wont come stay and when the inlaws do its usually only for the weekend- which is LONG ENOUGH believe me.. i really can't stand my MIL, even spending a few hours with her is pure torture.
I have officially hit the point where I could not give a $HIT about work.. AT ALL lol...
I am actually only going to do 3 days next week.. monday is a holiday and wednesday I am taking the "morning" off for my clinic appt but I might be there late again like this week and my mum has convinced me to just call my work at about 12pm and tell them I will be there all afternoon lol.
Sparkles- update us ASAP after the OB please, haha.
Jet- how u feeling today?
Phew, back at home after all this morning's jobs. Anyway like I was saying, I would go nuts with all those people coming. I really really want to bunker down with DH for the first couple of weeks. It's funny how with friends they understand that but with family they don't necessarily! This is why I got my mum to come next week cos she should only be here a week after the baby arrives and then she goes home. Which is tough for her but I need my space and I will actually ignore my phone and the doorbell for the first couple of weeks I reckon. I and DH need to build a relationship with the baby - and our relationship with eachother will change too I'm sure so I don't need the added stress of dealing with other people. Get your DHs into shape girls, tell them you're only focussing on the baby(s) and if we're out of milk or the dishwasher needs emptying, they're gonna have to do it or get the guests to do it and the guests are not allowed give advice re. the baby unless it's requested!! I was pleasantly surprised cos I kept saying to DH I wanted to fill the freezer (which I have done) with healthy, homecooked meals for the first weeks and he said, you realise I can come home from work and cook us something, right? (He's an awesome cook) I was like, well you say that now but let's see you do it when you're also sleep-deprived and you come home to a crazed hormonal woman and a screaming baby... :D
I went to the OB today. The head has moved down further so I guess that's what those contractions on the weekend were doing. He has given me a choice: get an internal at 40 weeks and book an induction at 41 or get the internal at 39 weeks and book an induction at 40. I can't decide what to do. I'm tempted to wait til 40 weeks cos I really don't want any intervention at all!! But then the induction would be the day mum is due to leave so she's have to stay on which would cost her more money... which is a stupid reason, I know. Hopefully I won't have to make the call as the baby will come before next week, ARE YOU LISTENING IN THERE BABY?
Hopeful I am no help with your questions either, sorry :( But I think Nikki is right and you should get question 1 checked out.
I too have a question: when are you making up the baby's bed? (the one they will actually sleep in, if you're like me and have the cot in the nursery made up since January but the bassinet in our room unprepared) I'm tempted to do it now cos then when the baby comes home it's ready for them to sleep in straight away if they are asleep when we get it in the door... but if say the baby didn't come for another 2-3 weeks would it be ok to have the bed unused for that long? God I am so clueless...
OK, I will now hit the Submit button and faint after seeing my ticker...
Hopeful, thank you for asking and I am feeling SORE and TIRED. But delighted your mum has talked you into having a 3 day week next week :) I like her already!
Jet - I set the bassinette up last night with fresh sheets in our room. I figure with only a week to go I might as well get things in order now, so when I come home I'll just be able to put the baby in their own bed straight away and know it's all ready for them.
My mum arrives after the baby does, so she'll be here for a few weeks. I know she'll be helpful though, cooking and cleaning and taking the baby if I need to sleep. She is here for three weeks and I think I'll be sad to see her go. I'm not sure how long my SIL will be here for and my MIL will be here in Sept but that's a long term stay until she finds a job and her own place. Hopefully by then I'll be less worked up.
Jet I agree, the relationship we have with DH is going to change, I think that's why I really want to spend as much time with him at the moment as I can!
Hopeful - sounds like a good idea taking the whole day off, it gets too hard in the end. I am nearly ready for my midday nap
Extra note Jet: regarding the induction, find out what method of induction they were thinking of using first and ask them how it all works, there are different types for different reasons and it can make the difference between a relatively natural labour and a lot of intervention.
Excellent Nikki, I shall make up the bassinet today so, ooh how exciting :) And thanks for the advice re. the induction. I will do that. I remember you telling us about your MIL. At least it's not til Sept though eh? Your mum sounds great :)
Ooh I've lost almost a kilo since last Friday... and I've even been sneaking the odd biscuit or chocolate cos my BSLs have been good!!
Aw crap, lost my post :(
I forget what I said but something about thanks for the advice Nikki and I will go make up the bassinet now ;)

Well said Jet, agreed with everything you wrote. I'm such a planner and its impossible to plan a head and like your DH mine reassures me he can duck out and get things that I may run out of (groceries wise) and help out with dinner etc.
I just hate asking and like to do these things myself but you'll laugh last night in Target I'm pointing to my conditioner and shampoo and said you can't just get anything you need to get the specific one for my hair (even though I've stocked up and it may be ages). I worry that he'll be lost at the groceries store. He thinks we'll save more money as he'll stick to my list as I never stick to my list and add a zillion things whilst I'm there.
Sparkles / Nikki I so feel for you both, I'll be getting annoyed at visitors all the time but you have to deal with overnight guests for long periods at a time. That is so hard on top of a baby. Nikki like you my mum is no trouble and a godsend but my MIL expects to be waited on.
My friends are great though and have asked me what I prefer visits at home or hospital etc and the best time etc.
angeleish
23-04-2010, 12:11
Jetgirl - I would definitely set the bassinet up now. Ours was set up on display for a while and about a week ago I stripped it and washed the sheets blankets etc. Then this week I got DH to rearrange our bedroom so I could move the bassinet from the nursery into our bedroom. It is now ready for baby so he/she can go straight there once we are home. :goodvibes:
Nikki - I so know where you are coming from!! We had visitors with us until last week. While it was great having them I was relieved finally get some quality nesting time and time with DH. We now have no more visitors until baby arrives.
Once baby arrives I have a ton of family descending on our house and the hospital (Both DH and my family live interstate....they are all waiting for a phone call or SMS once I'm in labour!!) They will all stay at our house when we are in hospital (DH is staying at the hospital with me), but once we are home, they are all going to stay elsewhere so we can have a little time to ourselves and just have "visitors".
I can't imagine how difficult it will be for you (and sparkles) to come home to a house full of visitors. (Initially this was going to be our situation too but luckily my family pre-empted that this may not be a good idea. . . . Yes, I'm very lucky).
Setting ground rules will be a definite. Perhaps remind family that this is your and DH's time to bond with baby. Delegate "other" jobs to family such as cooking, cleaning, walking the dog, shopping etc that way they can be kept busy while you focus on yourself and baby.
:hugs: I don't envy you at all. This is such a special and one off time. It's hard when family don't seem to understand.
sparkles - good luck at the ob. Can't wait to hear how you go.
I had an ob appointment yesterday. Nothing out of the ordinary. Baby is still engaged and ready to go but as for when . . . well who knows. Ob is still confident I can try for VB rather than a c-sect so it is good to know that he is still confident on this. I also went up to the maternity ward to pick up my bounty bag (a little late. . . kept forgetting to collect it). It was so cool up there..... can't wait now!!
Angeleish, good work at the OB! You may even go next! What did you get in the Bounty bag?
Making up the bassinet is not as easy as it looks :( why did I only get one mattress protector? Why is the fitted sheet so loose? How the hell do you put on the flat sheet and tuck it in when there's a baby in the bed? Argh!!
EarthAngel75
23-04-2010, 12:43
Hopeful: With your cat it sounds like 'it' knows (is it a boy or a girl btw?) that baby is on it's way and is trying to bring you presents - possibly even for the baby LOL! Cats have a strong thing with wanting to please their owners and show this by bringing in what they consider good treats/presents (even though we might not find them so!). My youngest male cat who hasnt been thru a baby or a lot of nanny charges has been extremely whingy lately - just sits at my feet and cries for absolutely no reason at all - ive decided it must be baby related. Luckily none of my cats are hunters though.
Sparkles: I think you are going to be WAY too exhausted with BFing two babies to even care that your IL's are even there to be honest. Hopefully your DH will step up if your MIL tries to make some comment about you while you are in that sort of state as most multiple mums ive known have seriously said they never left the BFing chair and felt like a human cow for the first several months. There is no way you should be doing anything other than establishing BFing either if that is what you want :)
Nikki: Try and let the other people go and you just worry about yourself and bub - hard to do if it's not something you're used to do but really do try. If the milk runs out ask someone to go get some more - no harm in asking!
Jet: Can you get the internal at 39 but then decide to have the induction held off until 41w if thats what you want to do? The internal might set you off depending on how ready your body is (esp if you go for a LOOOOONG 5-10km walk afterwards). I don't see why your ob wouldnt allow this.
Angel: YAY on still being able to go for a VBAC. I will hopefully know more on my obs thoughts after I see him on Tues in regards to mine.
angeleish
23-04-2010, 12:45
lol @ you struggling with the bassinet!! Sounds like the battle I had when I tried the cot!! Maybe your sheet is to cater for a larger bassinet . . just tuck under the mattress as much as possible.
I really don't think I'll go next. I really think baby is in there for the long haul. As for the bounty bag it was pretty average. Just some creams (which were good), lots of advertising (crappy) and some magazines (not too bad).
EarthAngel75
23-04-2010, 12:46
Jet: Maybe the fitted sheet is for a bigger basinette matress since there are different sizes? All I have to worry about is a fitted sheet as bubs will ge straight into a grobag hehe. Ive heard that having the bed made up twice (as in two matress protectors and 2 fitted sheets) is a good idea for when bubs has a large vomit or poo-plosion in the middle of the night you dont have to fuss with all that changing - you just take off the one set of protector/sheet and you're all ready to go again!
angeleish
23-04-2010, 12:47
earth - sorry I should clarify. Mine wont be a vbac. This is our first child. I was just concerned as most of my family have had c-sections and I wasn't convinced that I could have a natural labour. Ob doesn't see a problem with me trying for a vb so i guess I'm going to give it a go.... which I'm excited about.
Earth I have grobags too but since the baby will be wrapped in hospy I wasn't sure whether to go straight for the grobag on day 1 at home. Will have to play it by ear. And yeah I think I will go the internal at 39 and wait and see.
Angeleish gosh yes the cot was a nightmare too :) I so hope I can use grobags lol. I can't imagine all this tucking under after midnight feeds!!
angeleish
23-04-2010, 13:13
jetgirl - yeah I have the growbags on standby too but figure we'll wrap for a short while if that's what suits the baby. Who knows??? We'll just take it one day (and one sleep) at a time!
EarthAngel75
23-04-2010, 13:15
Jet: In terms of bubs being wrapped (and yes some really do prefer to be tight snug feeling and yet others dont so good to play by ear) what we did with dd was put her in the grobag and then just wrap a sheet/muslic wrap around her free arms and stick the wrapped part under her - can you visualize what I'm saying? LOL I could go get a doll and show you via a pic if you need.... hehe This is how a lot of people transition from wrapping to using grobags on older babies too.
Angel: Good luck with your labour then :) Do you know why most people in your family have had cesears? Does baby often get stuck or something?
Ohh and btw Toys r us hsa huggies nappies on sale for $29.99/box with a max of 4 boxes this weekend for anyone interested.
LOL Angeleish it sucks to be a planaholic :D I don't usually do winging things, this is going to be a massive shock to the system!!!
Earth, I get ya ;)
EarthAngel75
23-04-2010, 13:19
Come to think of it we never tucked dd into bed as such - she was always just in her pjs (before grobags as she was too small for them for AGGGGGGGGGGGGES) and then wrapped her in a warm wrap and just put her on top of the fitted sheet like that - but we always had the heat on in winter.
hopefulmama2b
23-04-2010, 13:43
earth- thanks. my cat is a female.. she is TINY ( was dumped as a kitten and we rescued her, her cat collar is on the smallest hole lol) i don't know how she catches these birds/mice/possums. I think that is what she is doing as well perhaps, bringing me presents. gee thanks.
Jet- god u are funny. I can JUST imagine u making the bassinette lol. My bassinette is quite large so I bought large cradle sheets.
Your ticker is crazy btw. :goodvibes:
Angeleish- I remember the bounty bag, got it my first midwife visit. I hope u get ur VB btw! I feel the same as u, if my BP stays ok i reckon bob will stay in here for ages, he feels comfy lol
Hope Sparkles appt is going well
EarthAngel75
23-04-2010, 14:14
Hopeful: Ahh yes the female cats seem to do this sort of thing more so than males ones in my experience. She may even be picking up a motherly instinct from you! She also probably wants to repay you for rescuing her - quite normal for cats to do this! I'll bet she catches things BECAUSE she's small which probably makes her fast! Two of my cats are absolutely HUGE (too big to pick up and hold sort of big), one is small but she's a butterball (fat and round lol) and has a heart/lung problem, and the last one well no idea why she doesnt catch anything as she's quite skinny/lean and a female although older now so who knows. I'm just glad I don't wake up or find dead things in my house - although they did hunt/kill all the mice around when we first moved in which was quite nice - they generally didnt bring them in as pressies though.
JetGirl - I have a grobag too but I think I'll wrap in the beginning for the first few weeks and then when the grobag doesn't look too huge I'll put them in that. I'll need to get the hang of how to dress them first before I introduce the grobag I think.
Angeleish - I hope everything goes well and you have a good experience with your VB. I really hope mine ends up a VB too and I don't get pushed towards a c-section.
I just had a nap, I am so glad I am on leave. I was so exhausted! I even woke up confused as to where I was
Wow Nikki that sounds like the world's greatest nap :) I keep forgetting to have one although I have been good today and spent a few hours on the couch with a book :) I feel so much better now than the other days this week. Reckon I was definitely trying to do too much! Time for yoga now. Hope you feel refreshed after your übernap! I know what you mean about learning how to dress them first. Saw a tiny baby at the OB this morning and it was like a slap in the face, the little feet are just so TINY and breakable-looking!!!

Finally have my keyboard fixed so I can actually post (and not just load pictures onto my pc!)
I'm a mummy to 3 :D Thanks so much for all the well wishes!
Sorry for the delay in birth details. I was texting Hopeful but she appears to have had some technical difficulties with her phone or perhaps it was my phone - either way the world of technology was against us that morning!
Here are some stats:
Lucy Grace
Born @ 2:46pm 19/4/10
Weighing 3.330kg
Length: 51 cm
Head Circ: 34.5
No episiotomy but I tore and had 3 stitches.
Her discharge weight yesterday was a tiny 2.960 kg as she was a little jaundice and so was sleepy and wouldn't feed. Went back for a weigh in today and she is now 3.090kg (6 pounds 8 ounces) so she is still TINY! So much for the predicted big bubba - good one OB
During the birth I had the most fantastic midwife which makes ALL the difference and my OB was just lovely.
So who's next ladies ;)
Lilly - congratulations you must be so relieved to finally have her in your arms, you were starting to feel quite uncomfortable in the end. She sounds just perfect and not at all big! Makes me wonder how on target they are with the size of my bub? It's all worked out by a computer program apparently.
Are you settling in at home well? How are your boys finding having a little sister?
Aw LillyJ great to hear from you. Well done!
JetGirl - on my travels I found this older BH thread about women who have had inductions. I thought you might want to read it too to see what experiences they had. Sounds ok actually.

Girls, I haven't had a chance to read over all the posts but will do so shortly and catch up!
Nikki - the boys are very impressed with their sister. A little over impressed but it's cute how much they want to touch her!

Hi girls,
hope everyone is travelling along nicely. Ive been reading updates, but the working bee continues at home, so been sorting stuff here, from the sofa :D
Lilly: Good to see you back hope Lucy is settling in well at home and your doing well.:yelclap:
Nikki/Jet: I think it was you both who mentioned the growbags. Which ones are you using? Are the arms enclosed or do they have holes etc. I havent got any yet, but mentioned it to SIL as she didnt want to purchase clothes etc. But wasnt sure which ones to get. Any particular ones you like/have?
Saw the OB this morning. Looks like I may be a contender for an upcoming arrival :o. Twin A is nearly fully engaged, OB said I am an 80% chance of going in to natural labour, rupture of membranes possibly within the next 5-7 days. Strong BH but nothing that I thought wasnt too bad for the last couple of days...clearly I have no idea though!
Travelling along well, both twins have grown lots, 3.3 and 3.5 kilos and I am booked in for another growth scan next Friday if I have not gone in to labour spontaneously. Induction booked for May 13th - 38 weeks. Bags are packed and ready for launch! :yelclap:

awww hopeful - it was probably my phone (it's an old one!) ... never mind - we got there in the end ;)
The doctor based it on my tummy at first but then on the growth scan (which came back as 3kg's at 36 weeks) she is only 3.090 kg today!
They do lose a bit after birth (when they poo ... and boy do they poo!) and they don't feed much for the first few days.
Last night I feed her 6 times ... then this morning only 1 feed at 9am and then another at 12:45 and one around 3:30 - looks like she's going to be a little night waker
I went out and bought a manual breast pump as my nipples have gone to ruin already but I just have sooooo much milk that I feel it would be wasted not to express it and use it for some of her feeds.

Sparkles - OMG in the next 5-7 days! How exciting .... better get all that stuff of yours unpacked asap ;)
Tell me about it!! All coming together nicely though....albeit, cant believe how much stuff we accumulated!!! :o After my chat with DH earlier, dont think he will be going to Friday night drinks tonight! ;)
Sparkles - your twins are already each bigger than they are estimating my baby at 37 weeks, you must be feeding them good stuff :) 5-7 days wow that's so soon, how exciting you must be excited and probably a little nervous. You may be the next one to make a big announcement :yelclap:
In regards to the grobags (I think the company name is The Gro Company) they are sleeveless, you would just dress them according to the temp, if it's cold put a long sleeved top on them, if not just leave their arms bare.
Lilly - they estimated my bub to be 2.9kg at 37 weeks, which they said was average... I wonder how close they are to that measurement now you've proven their technology all wrong  Glad the boys are adoring their little sister. Ouch on the nipples though

23-04-2010, 17:10
Nikki: Yeah they are big bubbas, but going by Lilly's bubba I reckon my two bubbies sizes could be out also. I have my doubts now after reading that about Little Lucy's size. If I make it to next Fridays growth scan guess that will give us a bit more of an idea.
I feel massive though, and a belly of a 41 week singleton...:o
Sparkles - it's good they are big bubbas because it means they are probably ready to come a bit earlier. I don't think you still want to be pregnant in three weeks, you must be getting exhausted. Although you put me to shame with all the tidying and sorting you are doing at the moment. I am barely managing my normal housework.

:laughing::laughing: All from the comfort of my sofa Nikki...Its like I have a broomstick and I am directing a heard of sheep in this place the poor family...Poor DH is fast approaching the "over pregnant woman orders and instructions" stage...and I am like, no no not in that cupboard, there etc. Slowly its coming together.
He doesnt understand though, if I could help out with the boxes god knows I would, as I know where things "need" to be etc...he just thinks, there is okay, its away...I shake my head and go, whatever! Im glad I cleaned last week end, least it was clean before the carnage of boxes arrived!
Im very over it, but shouldnt whinge...we are doing nicely to be here at 35+ weeks and OB is really happy, but honestly, I am just buggered, want them out, and want my body and sleep back! Think the body will come before the sleep though!
Sparkles - you are not alone I am looking forward to my induction, I love feeling bubby moving around inside but I am feeling quite heavy and uncomfortable now, obviously not as much as you. Everyone keeps telling me how small I look for someone who is near term, I don't feel small!
I think DH is getting a bit sick of moody pregnant woman barking irrational orders and demanding attention and assistance all the time too.
Nikki thanks for that thread, interesting reading!
Sparkles I got 2 grobags from the UK via eBay for half of what they cost here. I got 2.5 tog for 0-6 months as it will be winter. Like Nikki said, they come with instructions. Based on the room temp you put more or less layers on them and chuck em in the bag ;) wonder if your bubs are really that big... I don't know how you're doing it! How much weight have you put on?
DH is treating me to Indian takeaway tonight yay!

Jet: as of today I am plus 12 kilos so not too bad. Not great but not too bad. Re their weights, yeah not sure what they will come out like, but time will tell I guess. As long as they are healthy, I will be happy.
Indian hey? Going for an inducing labour curry!!! ;)
Thanks also re the tips re the grobags..
Sparkles - 12kg is fantastic considering you are carrying two in there!
Wow Sparkles if you've only put that much on then I vote that your bubs are smaller than they're saying :)
yes DH wanted me to have vindaloo but I'm feeling nauseous so sticking with mild mango chicken!!!
Ok I gave in and my mouth is now on fire...

Sparkles - you could come home weighing less than your pre-pregnancy weight ... seriously!
I weighed myself on the morning of my induction and when I got home from hospital last night. I had lost just over 6kg. I gained around 11kg this pregnancy so now have 5 to lose which isn't so scary. I reckon I'm carrying about 2kg's in my boobs right now too
Wow lillyj good work!!!!!
lillyjack
23-04-2010, 20:20
Jet - good luck with the indian style induction ;)
I think the weight loss of about 6kg after giving birth is the standard amount. Bubs was 3ish kg' - then there is placenta, blood and fluid .... oh and then I didn't eat for 48 hours because all the drugs made me feel icky and I had no appetite - not even for chocolate :(
I'm certainly back into the food now though:D
No appetite for chocolate??? Where's my "shocked" smiley???

sparkles that is an awesome amount of weight gain with twinnies, wow! And YAY for ur news!! U have done so well to keep those bubs in till now I reckon, and to have them good and healthy, well done! :yelclap:
Lillyjack- no chocolate appetite?? I am SHOCKED and disapointed LOL
WOW how emotional is it that some of us have met our bubs and the rest of us are waiting and some of us are soo close.. aww :crying: (this is a happy teary face ok!)

Jet: think the lower weight has a bit to do with the 18 weeks of morning sickness which I lost 9 but we will see I guess if you think the weights are wrong, I just go by what they show me on the screen. Also being coeliac has helped a little to limit the bad food intakes, which I guess could relate to some of it, but I could be wrong there too you might say. I eat pretty bland anyway.
Hopeful: thanks love, I'm dying to meet them now but bet nothing will happen for ages :-)

23-04-2010, 20:55
Hey Cat, where u hiding today? How was ur second last friday at work??
Sparkles - I agree with the other girls, you'll probably weigh less after your pregnancy that you did before. Like me you probably had a lower weight after first trimester to build on, I lost around 5kg due to morning sickness too before I started gaining it again. My SIL is tiny and I think it's because of her gluten free diet too, it's harder to eat bad food when you are limited by health restrictions anyway. I'm finding it the same with my GD, I just don't get the chance to eat as much bad food.
LillyJ - you'll probably have lost those 5kg in the next few weeks alone. I bet right now you are just so happy to have Lucy in your arms :goodvibes:
Jet - let me know if the curry works, I might have to try some as well next week ;)
Hey Hopeful! I'm here - just got home from going out for burgers with my sis and family. Yum. Good way to get some red meat into me! Now if only I hadn't eaten all the chips:o
Yep, second last Friday and I spent it in reverse-nesting - I culled a heap of stuff, labelled everything (and then some) so no one has any excuses if they can't find anything and packed up some personal stuff into a box so it's out of the way of my replacement. Quiet day as lots of people had the day off for a long weekend so it was lovely and peaceful (even if my office looked like a bomb had hit it halfway through!).
Hopeful - how exciting you might finish work sooner!!!
Jet - love that you've been cooking - any tips for some freezer-friendly dishes? I'm planning on doing some slow cooking this weekend to shove in the freezer - I've been hanging for some cooler weather so I can (a) cook without my feet swelling up while I stand up for hours abd (b) not overheat the house (and me!).
Lilly great to see you and love that your new family is settling in!
Sparkles wow, I cannot believe your bubs are bigger than my single one! I really really really hope you get your natural birth - I think Nikki might be right that the bigger they are, the better they may come out! Nice work on the unpacking and how exciting you may be next!!!
Nikki - Hopefully you are feeling better - I don't blame you for being :( about having a house full of people. Hopefully you find some balance and everyone gives you some space. We'll have the opposite problem - everyone will leave us alone a lot because family lives a fair distance away (too far to drop in but too close to stay for ages!) and there are a lot of grandchildren on both sides. We're both grateful for the space but we've both agreed not to turn down a free feed if anyone offers!!!
Good info re the grobags everyone! The only thing I've been told is to look out for the ones with the hole in them so you can buckle bub in the capsule while wearing the grobag. I know the cheap Target ones have the hole but not sure about the real Grobag ones? Work has asked me what to get me for a going away and I suggested a couple of bags - I haven't got any yet but probably won't start using them until we get past the first 6 weeks or so.

Cat: handy to know re the car seat buckle that's very handy to have then we wouldn't have to wake bubby up if we go out :-)
Assembly of my pram currently underway!!! It's a monster!!!

23-04-2010, 22:00
Nikki - yep, I'm so glad to finally have Lucy in my arms. Love her little turtle face to bits :D
Hopeful and Jet - my DH brought me a big bag of Fardoulis Chocolates to the hospital and I didn't eat a single one :(
Did I mention I had a Babies Galore shopping spree this morning ... decided I needed a breast pump, head support thingy for the pram and a "proper" nappy bag. Ended up going for the OiOi "Hobo" which is tan and chocolate coloured. So you can say I had a bit of a late nesting splurge with that one :D
Cat - love the "reverse-nesting"
Oops Cat I totally forgot to upload that recipe, will try tomorrow. I've frozen individual portions of lasagne, chilli con carne and some sausage and bean hotpot.
Re the grobags and carseats: I think it depends on the carseat but with the liner we have, the baby would get too hot so I'd be taking it out of the grobag anyway and using a wrap or blankie over the carseat. I believe the RTA or whoever suggest there be nothing between the baby and the harness except for clothes and the grobag may be too bulky to count as clothes. Sthg to do with the harness functioning correctly and the baby not twisting or slipping out of it should the bedding move.
No curry induction :( lots of headbutting of ladybits which hurts so much I worry about how sore it will be during crowning etc :(

lily - great to see you back... great to see that little lucy hasn't effected your shopping mojo.... and glad to see your appetite is back!! well done!!!
sparkles - not long to go now. You have done well to get so far with the twinnies!! I can't imagine how uncomfortable that must be for you. My tummy is only measuring at 36 weeks (despite being over 38) and I'm struggling. Well done on the baking!!! Hopefully the twinnies wait just a little so you can have a quick rest after setting up and unpacking boxes.... then they can arrive!
jetgirl - any action overnight after your curry induction??
AFM - wanted to sleep in but my hips are killing me today. I eventually decided to just get up and rest on the couch with pillows instead. We're meant to be going to inspect houses today..... grrr don't think my hips are going to like that at all!!
angeleish - good luck on the house search. Those hips are a real pain towards the end, feel like they are breaking apart don't they. Hopefully you find something quickly and you don't need to walk much. Make sure DH helps you in and out of the car!
Morning girls. No curry induction :( Might drag myself out for a walk today...
Angeleish that's a good idea of Nikki's to help DH get you in & out of the car cos that's the worst bit isn't it and you'll be doing that heaps... and make sure you hold your pelvic floor in when you do it cos that'll help keep your pelvis together...
Now to try scanning in this recipe...

I reckon boo is next and then angeleish...
Boo - yay! I hope that you are one of those that loses their plug and gets going within a few hours. You are far enough long now that, that might be exactly what happens. Fingers crossed for you :fingerscrossed:
A few of us are missing, maybe they are enjoying Saturday out and about. I bought a new book today, a thriller of some sort to keep me busy in case they induce me and nothing much happens for a day or so. I'll need something to keep my mind occupied while I am stuck in a bed being monitored around the clock!

Hi Girls, am here! Had to run some errands this morning and then caught up with a girlfriend for a bit of a shop now am home relaxing. DH has something yummy cooking away in the slowcooker and the weather is nice and cold mmmm..nice and cozy!!

Jet- ur bubs been teasing us for a while hey? perhaps they are happy in there?? lol
Sparkles- hope u are relaxing, how are u feeling??
Lillyjack- Hello new mumma! How is beautiful Lucy going??
Hi to everyone else! I feel really good today! If it wasn't for this big tummy and the occasional jab from Bob I would wonder if I were really one day off 36 weeks pregnant- MAN feels like I still have so long to go lol!

24-04-2010, 16:27
oh and jetgirl I can't seem to click on the link but googled a bit. Is this recipe similar??
A one-pot wonder. Saffron, citrus, and sausage--how could this NOT be exceptional?? Slightly spicy, but twin-approved.
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
6 boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
½lb chorizo sausage, sliced
large pinch of saffron threads
1¼ cups long-grain rice
2½ cups hot chicken stock
grated zest and juice of 1 small lemon
Handful roughly chopped flat-leaf parsley
Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook the onion for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until starting to turn golden. Add garlic and cook for a further minute, then add the chicken and chorizo. Cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes until browned.
Add the saffron and stir for 1 minute or until fragrant. Stir in rice, then pour in the hot stock. Stir to combine, then bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Season with salt and pepper, then cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer gently for 20-25 minutes until rice is tender. Stir in zest, juice and parsley, and serve.
angeleish - I've been told about three times today from different people that I don't look pregnant enough to be full term yet. I like to point out that I 'feel' pregnant enough to be full term though  Glad you had a nap, I think I am in need of one today, but first I have to cook something up ready for dinner. I think soon it might be time to dust off the slow cooker again!
I'm not sure who will be next, I think it's a toss up between JetGirl, Boo and Angeleish... hard to say. Babies are very unpredictable.
Ooh yes angeleish that's the one!!
angeleish
24-04-2010, 16:54
jetgirl - thanks. I'll have to give it a whirl. So excited. I love chorizo!!!
Nikki - Don't worry I keep getting told that because my tummy hasn't dropped baby is ages off. grrrr... Don't tell me that. Please tell me I'm close. DH even admitted last night that he is getting impatient too!!
Angeleish let me know what you think :)
I'm pooped again. Did the ironing and made a batch of pesto for dinner and for freezing, from the last of the basil in the garden. Am now lying down having hot flushes which DH is googling cos to him everything is a sign of imminent labour, lol.
Seems like everyones partner is hoping they'll go into labour soon, mine wants the baby to hang on an extra week so he has time to finish his work and exercise routine. I think he'd like it if the baby stuck to the schedule of an induction on the 4th :p I don't think he realises just how much babies like to make unscheduled changes to your routine.
Angeleish - Everyone is an expert aren't they ;)
JetGirl - I am exhausted at the end of every day. Good on you for making pesto, I just made a Goulash Stew for dinner. I will plant some basil soon and this year I am actually going to make pesto and not get slack.
Mmm goulash sounds good Nikki :) I hear you on everyone being an expert. I said the other day I thought the baby might come early and my SIL goes, but you haven't dropped yet and I'm thinking, erm I think I'm a better judge of how things are feeling down there!!
Hi All,
Well my DH definitely wants me to wait (as if I have a choice) as we are STILL trying to finish renovations! He has until Friday to coincide with my last day of work...it's not looking good though! Meanwhile, the next Socceroo in my belly simply never seems to sleep!
Also had a lovely day out today as plan to spend the entire day home tomorrow cooking and washng and cleaning and...
Thanks for the recipes Angel and Jet! I've stocked up on tinned tomatoes and pasta and meats for slowcooking so should have a freezer full of soup, casseroles, middle eastern slow cooking and pasta sauces by the end of the weekend. That chorizo recipe looks awesome but would it freeze OK with the rice in it?
Boo so exciting - my phone is charged and ready - bring on that bub!!!!
Lilly I'm so impressed that you have shopped already! We will all need some lessons! What size clothes is Lucy in? 0000 at that weight?
Nikki am jealous you can start planting basil now :D I'm also about to pull up the last of ours!
Hopeful and Sparkles how are you both travelling???

24-04-2010, 19:05
Cat - Lucy is in 0000 - with some of those even being a little on the large side!
I don't have much for her to wear as I didn't buy many outfits in that size!!
Oh and I just want to add that looking after a newborn is definately easier/better than the last stages of pregnancy  Lucy has been an angel, she mostly sleeps - wakes every now and then for a feed and then straight back to sleep. I am hoping she'll wake up a bit soon though as I can't wait to interact with her :)
Thanks Lilly! I'm definitely keeping my 0000s then!
So glad you're having a great first week! Lucy sounds absolutely divine!
Cat I have no idea if you can freeze rice sorry. It's an easy midweek meal though :) don't wear yourself out with too much cooking Missy! You'll have to share your slow cooker recipes! I haven't found any keepers yet...
lillyj that is so good to hear about looking after a newborn!!!

Girls I am sure I will take back what I said about how easy it is soon enough, but for now, she really is a breeze to take care of. I think she has cried about twice and as soon as I give her a cuddle and a feed she is straight back to sleep.
We had a good 15 mins of "awake" time today (the first for her) and I sat on my bed and we looked into each others eyes - so adorable that I started crying :o
Aw lillyj I now have tears in my eyes too. That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard.

still here!
how is everyone going
boo very exciting re the plug
jet thought we might of had some news bummer
i'm going to go and veg in front of the tv with my feet up they are so swollen and sitting on the computer seems to make them worse so thats why i havent been on here
talk soon
Poor allyoop, hope those nasty cankles get better soon. I want some chocolate :(
Ally - yeah put your feet up, if I sit upright at a desk they get worse too.
Jet - I have been eating non-stop this evening, yesterday I wasn't hungry at all. Changes from day to day. Goulash was nice, but then I had some raspberries, some chocolate, some cheese and am now contemplating warm milk... You should be able to have a couple of pieces of chocolate shouldn't you?
Lilly - that's so sweet  I am sure that I will be the same, just wanting to stare at my baby for ages. Glad to hear Lucy is sleeping well.
Cat - our winter is like a summer down south so it's the best time to grow basil, none of the herbs grow in summer up here, too wet. I am going to start planting veg and herbs very soon, May hopefully.
Nikki yep I had one piece of choc after a lovely post-dinner reading of 5.7 - and it was pasta, which is usually my downfall!!!! The choc was divine. Hope you enjoyed yours :)
anybody up to anything for the long weekend? DH is laying a concrete slab for the outdoor aircon unit on Monday. So I will be cheering him on and bringing him beers ;) I'm flying through the books I got from the library on Friday, nearly finished the second one!!! And I'm not missing work at all, which came as a surprise.
Ok time to put the book down and go to sleep. Hope you girls have sweet dreams!

Thanks for the update Jet!!! So excited to hear whats happening with Sparkles :yelclap:twinnies are on their way :)
Sorry I haven't been around yesterday girls, had a day with the inlaws at our house, bit of a working bee. My F.I.L in law was helping my hubby with building our pagola. And MIL was hanging out with me. After a while she asked if there was anything to do and god love her she got stuck into ironing all DH's shirts and pants !:) then started weeding in the front yard! looks so much better now.
Having the worse nights sleep... hence while I'm up, getting up every 2 hours so annoying.
Jet / Nikki glad you had a good reading my reading last night was bad 7.9 that was having take out (noodle box) but it was yummy.
Boo, don't think you'll be far behind Sparkles now, I can't believe she slipped in before you!
Hopeful, how is your right foot going? Mine is still swollen like a sausage
Love the updates on your precious girl LillyJ keep them coming. She sounds adorable.

Well that was out of the blue! Maybe I should have logged on at 5am, when I first got out of bed
Finn Alexander and Oliver Mason Crawford arrived this morning at 3.45 and 3.47am. Oliver has had trouble feeding and needs an operation at the Royal Childrens on his osophagus as he has a blockage. This is being done this morning will know more soon but confident it can be fixed. Finn is absolutely perfect. Both were 3.2 and 3.1 kgs. They are just beautiful and I'm so in love, just like their Daddy. :-) if possible no comments on my FB page as we are waiting on details from the paediatrician. Thx Sarah

I'm sort of around girls. DH got home on Friday and we have a good friend of ours down from Sydney since yesterday morning so havent had much time for the pc this weekend.
Lilly: Glad to hear you're home and things are going well with Lucy - but where are some pics!!! hehe
Wishing  for the time of your post this morning - what a god awful hour to be awake!
My hands have started swelling - and not during the day either. I wake up with them full of fluid which slowly recedes as the day goes on (probably down to my feet!)
Congratulations to Sparkles and family and we know Oliver will be absolutely fine.
Will put proper announcement up when I get on the PC, have been awake all night in excitement lol

Thanks for updating the roll cat.... wow we do have a lot of boys on that list!!
So..... who's next??? Jetgirl??? My bet is on you!! But then again..... could be Nikki!!

25-04-2010, 13:13
Wow there definitely is a lot of boys :) maybe the surprise ones will bring a few girls to balance it out a bit. Can't wait to find out :yelclap:
Looks like it might be Boo thats next, how are you feeling with 3 days to go
Nice work Cat! Wow so many boys!!!! Surely at least 2 of the surprises will be girls ;)
Going by that dark horse, I'm not game enough to put bets on who's next
Wishing - Thanks for asking. I've been feeling like crap the last 2 days. Ready here comes the whinge..... My belly feels sooo heavy and uncomfortable, (.)(.) are killing me and my back feels like AF is coming . So I'm resting up and making trips between the computer, toilet and bed .
How is everyone else coping?????
My money is on Boo but then I've been expecting an SMS for weeks!!!
In a few short weeks that roll call will be complete and a rainbow of pink and blue - or will that be mostly blue????
Beautiful day here in Melbourne - a perfect day for Sparkles to welcome her bubs.
Boo - you must be so close now! I hope these are all signs for you. I hear you on the sore lower back and bbs, heavy belly as well, although I think my little bub is quite happy to stay put for now, they might need to evict them. Plus really how many times can a girl go to the toilet in one night! I am constantly up to go to the loo and barely anything comes out, plus it takes so much energy to actually get up to go to the loo in the first place.
JetGirl - you must be very close too... count down is on could be any day now. I bet your DH is getting excited now.
Nikki - Its comforting knowning these aches and pains are all normal. Although it doesn't make it feel any better.
angeleish
25-04-2010, 15:25
Yes it's getting very hard to predict who is next.
Boo - sounds promising. Not long now anyway.
Nikki - I hear you on finding the energy to get up and go to the toilet. it's so hard to even get out of bed.
Is it just me or is time just dragging now? I'm getting very impatient to meet my little one!!!
Boo yep same aches and pains here! I feel like I need to carry my bump on a trolley ;)
Nikki lol getting up for the loo sucks. Getting up from the couch even sucks!!
Angeleish I'm still hovering between excitement and terror but yes time is stalling ATM...
Is it just me or is time just dragging now? I'm getting very impatient to meet my little one!!!
YES!!!!! I've found time dragging by since about 6 weeks to go :p.
What doesn't help is we keep counting down.... x many days left of work.... x manys days till due date. It never ends .

Hi there, just wanted to pop in and say hello. I was on here in the early days and since have been stalking the thread:p. Wanted to wish you all the best with your deliveries, so exciting to see you all getting closer. I always felt like an imposter as I had done IVF, but then fell pregnant on my own after our last transfer.
I must say your posts have been very informative and i have enjoyed reading them:). I look foward to seeing how everyone goes and what they have.
Hi Mattysmum - good to hear you are still staying up to date with everything, don't feel like an imposter though
JetGirl - don't you just hate it when you rush around doing things then just as you sit down on the couch you realise you need to go to the toilet again for 10th time today! If you don't go you just know you'll be in pain.
angeleish - impatient yes!! Everyday I wake up to see if my bump is lower or if I am having any sign that my bub wants to meet it's mum and dad but bubby seems so happy in it's own little world it doesn't seem in any rush to come out
Boo - I agree I started getting impatient weeks ago and I am so relieved they gave me an induction date, at least I know I won't go over time. I think if the baby had it's way they'd bake longer than 40 weeks.
angeleish
25-04-2010, 16:42
Nikki - I'm still confident that this baby is going to make me wait!! Think I'll cry each day I'm made to go over. Not because I'm overly uncomfortable or anything.... just impatient!! Hurry up baby!!
Hi Matty's mum - I agree, you needn't feel like an imposter. We'd love some more people to chat with.
Hope sparkles and her little men are okay.
Angeleish - I know what you mean, DH says for a heavily pregnant woman I am still very active and agile, so I am obviously not as uncomfortable as I could be, but I am just getting impatient because I have everything set up and now I want to meet our new addition :D

Hey girls, hope you all having a lovely sunday. Just got back from the movies (saw date night) with a g/f who is 23 weeks preggers. Definitely a bit of uncomfortable sitting for almost 2 hours but it was a good movie.
Angeliesh, like you I think my bubs is going to be one of the ones that goes over my due date. Although its an active baby I think its just too comfortable and doesn't know where the "exit" is.
Boo, hope these last few days aren't too uncomfortable for you, keep your feet up as much as possible.
Hearing you all on the ridicules amount of toilet breaks especially in the night. Although it won't be long till we will be getting up for nightly feedings for our babies.
I just worry sometimes that I have forgotten to buy something that I’ll be needing for bubs but I think I’m as prepared as I can be and anything I’ve missed I can easily get DH to run out and get it for me I guess.
Matty’smum, thanks for stopping in, we enjoy hearing from people that have also followed our journeys. Best of luck with your own pregnancy.
I'm making a baked Roast with roasted vegies and the spell is making me hungry. Poor DH has been working on the Pagola all day but I'm so proud that he is handy, I just hope the back yard returns to normal shape before bubs gets here.
Hope Oliver is doing ok, his not far from my thoughts today. Looking forward to hearing how you are going Sparkles :hugs:
No news from Sparkles but I told her we're all delighted for her and thinking of Oliver.
Just called mum, she's a tad excited as she leaves tomorrow. Asked her to bring me some Jaffa cakes, Nikki you might know what they are... DH baked bread this arvo, the smell is just divine. My sugar levels are being ridiculously good, stuff that put me way over 2 weeks ago barely hits the mid 5s!! And I've spent the day mainly on the couch, love it!! DH making taco pie for dinner, happy days! Hope you girls are having a lovely weekend.
JetGirl - yep I remember the Jaffa Cakes, pretty sure they are part of the reason I put on so much weight :p Good to hear your readings are good, I have to say mine are too lately.
Nikki - glad you're also a fan! I had major cravings for them this arvo and am salivating at the thought of a whole pack all for me muhahaha. Funny about our readings, you'd think they'd be getting worse!
angeleish
25-04-2010, 18:41
hmmm don't know what these Jaffa cakes are but I'm guessing since they include the word "cake" in their title that they are good!!!
jetgirl - your mum would be beside herself with excitement. Hope baby behaves and doesn't keep her waiting too long. Will she be staying with you? (you've probably mentioned this before but I can't remember!!)
wishing - sounds like DH has been a busy (and very useful) man. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that baby is wayyyy too comfortable!! Enjoy your roast!
nikki - I could have sworn your baby was going to be here before now. Still at least you have an eviction date which is very soon. One week Tuesday if I'm correct (from memory your eviction date is one day after my due date!!) Not long now!
Angeleish they're biscuits with sponge, chocolate (of course!) and orange jelly. Heaven! Mum is staying at a Quest, allegedly to give us our last days of privacy lol! Think she saw too much of us at Christmas ;)

Thanx for making me feel welcome. Its so exciting reading about the births!!
We found out we are having a girl, hope she is, her room is very pink!
I have to agree about this end part being a tad bit uncomfortable. Hard to find the right position to be comfie!
Nikki - glad to see your going well, not long to go now:yes:
Congrats to sparkles and Lillyjack:smiliedance:

25-04-2010, 20:55
Congratulations to sparkles on her twin boys! They are absolutely fantastic weights for twins at 35 weeks!!!!!!!! :yelclap::yelclap:
My first 2 were 2.2kg and 3kg and everyone is always amazed at how big DS was at 3kg. Talking to lots of mums even ones at full term aren't usually that big so well done Sparkles!!!!!!
Mattysmum - getting into the right position can be a bit hard in the end, especially when the baby likes to stretch out.
JetGirl - you are making my mouth water, they are one of my weaknesses :o
Angeleish - I had a feeling bub would want to stay put, I think if it had it's way it would still be there after 40 weeks. Hopefully you'll go soon and you won't go over 40 weeks. Imagine we might go on the same day or a day or two apart!
Just had some more banana cake, since being introduced to it I've made two batches and it's popular
Mmm banana cake... I've stayed away but it's very tempting!
No word from Sparkles. Hoping she's just mad busy and resting in between feeds etc.

Congrats sparkles. What great sized boys! Just beautiful names. So very happy for you...but a tad disappointed we won't be in hospy together , unless I go into labour in the next few days. Lol.
Congrats! Look forward to meeting them ;)
I think with two babies to look after she is probably just very busy. Hopefully we'll hear soon how the op went and how her boys are doing and their parents as well!
JetGirl - I found out after I made it that banana cake is actually low GI. I make it in muffin tins so it's already in serving sized portions and I've found it doesn't spike me at all.
Oooh Nikki I like your style :D
angeleish
26-04-2010, 09:36
nikki - banana cake rocks doesn't it. It's one of the few cakes that I bother to try to bake. Hopefully you are right with baby being late. Hopefully it will only be a smidge late. Officially I only have one week to go today... however according to my obs I could still have as much as 17 days to wait!!! Feels like forever. Guess I'll just have to try to keep myself as busy as possible.
Thinking of sparkles and her little men. I hope they are both okay and she is loving being a mummy.
Off shopping with DH today. I think he's getting impatient too. He doesn't normally like shopping but think he is desperate to get out to keep his mind off things and to hopefully get time moving a little quicker IYKWIM!
JetGirl - I really enjoyed the chance to bake something again that I could actually eat. My diet was getting a bit monotonous...
Angeleish - enjoy your shopping trip, I managed to drag DH out on Saturday which was good. He normally hates shopping too but he was happy to be out and about, plus he now notices prams and babies everywhere and I think he is getting a bit impatient too.
We might head out for a drive today onto the tablelands and do some sightseeing. Not too much walking for me though.
Aw isn't it cute how everybodys DHs are being so impatient and excited :) mine is now adding felt to the rocking chair rockers to protect the floor and then he's laying the concrete for the aircon. All this while I kick back with a book followed by a hot bath ;)

Hello Ladies
Its been quite in here over the last fews days! Must be the long weekend :yelclap:.
Well I must say I'm feeling a lot better today . I actually have some energy , that I just wasted on housework . I think I might spend the afternoon on the couch watching craapy daytime tv.
3 days to go :smiliedance: (at worst)
Boo isn't that one of the signs ;)

Hi Girls
Hope everyone is well!
Anyone in labour? LOL
Anyone heard from sparkles and how Oliver's op went?
I have just had a massive house nest and now am going to spend the rest of the day on the couch :D had a shocking night sleep- up every hour with intense pelvic aches and a sore tummy
angeleish
26-04-2010, 15:59
hopeful - hope you had a great day on the couch getting over those aches and pains.... last semi-week of work for you!!! Woo hoo!! Great times ahead!!
ally - Sounds like a great plan for the day. Hope you had a nice quiet afternoon!
Boo - lots of energy.... Well done!! Wouldn't it be awesome if your little one decided to surprise you and come earlier!
jetgirl - keep DH working I say. HOpe you had a nice soak in the tub with a good book!!
nikki - hope you and DH had a nice drive together. Sounds great.
We went to the shops today but didn't really enjoy it all that much. I've got everything I need for baby (I think... I hope) and am trying to hold off buying anything more until I know his/her gender!! We are so ready for this baby!!! Can't wait!!!
Hi All,
What a fantastic long weekend although, by next Monday, every weekend will be a long one for me!
I spent yesterday slow cooking and filling up the freezer with a variety of meals to get us through the first few weeks and have knocked off a tonne of washing including all the baby's clothes and sheets. I finally feel like I'm now really ready!
Boo - those signs are looking promising!
Hopeful - hope those pains have gone away.
Everyone else, sounds like you also had nice days planned today :)
I can't wait to hear news of Oliver - I really hope everything is OK. I'm sure Sparkles has her hands full.
hopefulmama2b
26-04-2010, 16:42
Hey Cat, I am the same, got the remainder of my baby stuff washed  and made cupcakes and cleaned the house and am almost finished watching season three desperate housewives :D aches and pains are still constant and bub seems to be awkewardly and tightly trying to move around in my stretched to the max belly lol. the thought of going to work tomorrow makes me wanna spew lol but only three more days.. they are going to be extremely full on busy days however so a very early night is happening tonight!
I agree, sparkles will have her hands full at the moment, but she knows we are all thinking of her and her new little family and i am sure everything is fine :goodvibes:
It feels so good to have all the clothes washed, sorted and put away. I didn't want to do it too early as I knew I'd end up washing them again! Mmmm...cupcakes Hopeful - yummo. I was going to make Anzacs but knew I'd end up eating the whole lot myself rather than do the right thing and take them to work tomorrow!
Three/four more days of work for you/me...I'm going to try to take it easy but somehow think everyone's going to want a piece of me! I'm just looking forward to my going away pressie!!!
I'm also sure everything will be fine with Sparkles - she has loads of positive thoughts going her way. I just keep wondering if she has been able to go to the RCH to see Oliver...or whether she has to stay at her hospital the whole time. I hope she is OK.
The drive was good, did a bit of walking and am surprised at how active and energetic I still am  Maybe the walking rocked bub a bit closer to the exit and they are getting ready soon.
Hopeful - yum on the cupcakes :) Hope you enjoyed your afternoon on the couch.
Angeleish - I agree, I have everything I need now. The only thing I need now is the baby!
Cat - good on you regarding the meals. We don't have the freezer space, so I am going to sit down with DH tonight to plan some easy meal ideas that even he can whip up without too much fuss.
I just had some Green and Black's dark chocolate, it's really nice I've never eaten it before. I think I have a new favourite, although Lindt is always good.
Wow cat good on you, sounds like you're good to go!
I'm attempting a new recipe tonight: pumpkin gnocchi. This baby feels like it's head is practically outside the exit!!!
No word from sparkles...
Ow, Jet, that sounds absolutely uncomfortable!
Good luck with the gnocchi - delicious!
Mmmm...dark chocolate Nikki...delicious. Well done on the walking around...maybe you need a curry next to get things really moving :)
Our freezer is definitely full barely enough room for the icecream! I'm now only hoping we don't weaken and end up eating it all before I have the baby!
It's like getting stabbed in the vjj from the inside. Maybe there's a little hand down there, I don't see how a head can be causing such sharp pain. This is gonna hurt like hell coming out!!!! :(
Phew Sparkles just announced on FB so all must be well :D

Hi girls just thought I would let you know Oliver pulled through surgery last night on his oesophagus. It was a long operation and I'm still getting my head around it all as he is at the Royal Childrens and Finn and I are at the Freemasons Hospital. It took just over 4.5 hours but the little man is doing incredibly well. Finn is thriving and I've had him on the boob yesterday and tonight and he had his first bath earlier. Girls it's an amazing feeling I can just look at them and cry I'm so in love with them. We probably will take Oliver home in a week or two depending how quick he recovers but he is taking my boobie feeds through a tube which is great. Finn is a champion feeder and poker and pee'er!!!
It's amazing girls, sorry for the late advice I've just been getting our heads around this. I hope you are all doing well. Jet thx for looking out for me Hun. :-)
JetGirl - good luck on the gnocchi hope it turns out tasty and your BSL don't play havoc :fingerscrossed:
Cat - I don't really like ice-cream that much but DH and my SIL are big fans and the ice-cream in the fridge is disappearing fast so soon I'll have more room in there ;) I've just written up a long list of DH friendly meal ideas with ingredients that are easy to access. Hopefully this will work :fingerscrossed:
Sparkles - good to hear you are doing well :) I can't wait to feel that rush of emotion either.
Sparkles- congrats again and such wonderful news about Oliver! It must be really hard having him in another hospital but sounds like you'll have them both home soon! Take care xxx
Wow the gnocchi was awesome! I'm shocked :)
Sparkles I'm delighted it's all going well, it must be hard for you guys but how fantastic that they're both feeding well :D you should be very very proud to have brought such strong boys into the world.
JetGirl - why so shocked by the gnocchi, did you make it from scratch? Glad it was tasty though :) I love gnocchi, last time I had it, it sent my levels over but after bub I am having a big bowl ;)
I made a personal pizza, so easy and so tasty, using low carb wraps :D
Nikki, yep from scratch, using pumpkin DH grew, never made gnocchi before plus I hate vegetables! So a very nice surprise :) Sadly it took 2 hours to make and 2 minutes to eat :D
mmm good idea with the pizza!!
Angeleish, how was the house hunting?

oohh sparkles, hullo my love!
SO happy to hear that all went well, it is just so surreal and fantastic to hear that my cycling buddy is now a mama and I will be soon too.. I am rather emotional LOL.. now.. show us some pics! lol
xxxxxx
I've made gnocchi a few times and I enjoy it but it does take a long time and it is eaten relatively quickly. I think now bub is coming I think I'll be eating the shop bought gnocchi for a while until I get back into time management. Good work on making it from scratch :yelclap:

Yay Sparkles - welcome to the world of feeding, pee'ing and pooping ;)
Just checking in to see if anyone else has popped yet .... c'mon who's next!!!
AFM - Lucy and I are doing really well. She is such a good baby and I am finally starting to feel human again. The "down below" pains have eased right off, bleeding has almost stopped (sorry if TMI) and I have somehow dropped another 2kg's since coming home on Thursday night (must be all that bf'ing!). Took all 3 kids out to the shops today which was challenging but nice to get out. Can't say I could manage it without DH though... had lots of comments on Lucy too which was nice.
Hoping to make an appointment with the CHN tomorrow to check Lucy's weight and then brave my first school run with a baby
Hope you girls all had a lovely long weekend x

Sparkles - I am so relieved to hear that little Oliver is on the mend. It must be so bloody hard not having him near you but he sounds like such a fighter. I'm glad everything with Finn is going well and he is feeding nicely. You sound like you're doing great as a mum and so in love with your two boys. :goodvibes:.......Makes me wish my little baby would hurry up so I can experience it too.
You've had a rough couple of days but sounds so in love. Congratulations hun!!
lily - Sounds like you have a beautiful little princess there. Good luck with your first school run tomorrow. I'm sure it will be daunting but you'll fly through in spectacular fashion!!
jetgirl - go you little master chef you!! Impressive work. Hope you managed to freeze some for after baby has arrived. As for the house hunting it officially sucks. . . somehow I think we're still going to be house hunting with a newborn in tow. (We really wanted to try to find something before baby's arrival). Don't know how were going to manage going from house to house with a newborn but I guess we'll just have to.
hopeful and cat - enjoy the last week of work!! Not much longer now!! Woo hoo!! :smiliedance:

Lilly - you make it sound so magical even though I am sure you must be exhausted. I am glad you are in awe of your little princess.
JetGirl - I am feeling really uncomfortable tonight too, I feel like I am bursting at the seams!
Angeleish - I can't imagine how frustrating it must, so close to labour and house hunting :hugs: I hope something comes up soon that you fall in love with.
Hopeful - the recent births have me all emotional too, I can't wait for all of us to be holding our bubs and posting photos.
BTW has anyone booked newborn photos? I am thinking of getting some done within the first week.

BTW has anyone booked newborn photos? I am thinking of getting some done within the first week.
We had ones done at the hospital. a lady came round asking if we wanted some done. I wouldn't have got them done except that we only had to pay the price for 1 to get both sets. They're all of the same pose and the put them on little announcement cards etc and you get some big ones and little ones. It was around the $100 mark but since we were getting 2 sets we decided to do it. Now we'll have to do it again. I also paid an extra $15 for her to do some hand and feet photos. (cute one of them holding hands :goodvibes:) And my BIL is a picture framer so he framed them and will do that again this time.
I've got a voucher for a free package that I'd like to get done and get a nice family portrait of us all.

Morning girls..
Lissy- how nice to see ya hun! Hope u are well :hugs:thanks for all ur well wishes.
Nikki- I too will probably use the hospitals photographer to capture some early pics- I have seen the pics done at Monash before and they are really sweet!
Soo.. anyone in labour? It feels weird being at work.. the countdown is officially on! Get thru today, tomorrow at Monash, then thursday and friday. Am going to try and get thru as much as I can today to make thurs/fri easier. And I got such a suprise this morning when I walked in, a MASSIVE blue hamper on my desk filled with all sorts of awesome baby stuff!!! :goodvibes:
Allyoop, since nobody told me I had spelt IVF wrong (DUH!) for the best part of 9 months, I'm telling you I just noticed that you may have mistyped "bundle" in your siggie... :D
Hopeful, Nikki, Twinmummy, never heard of hospital photographers? Sounds like a plan though :) We have a voucher from BabiesGalore for $250 worth of photography but I will prob wait a few weeks til the baby starts looking a bit more human LOL and can interact more. In the meantime, DH is a keen photographer and he just invested in the world's awesomest (!) flash especially for taking baby pics so I think we'll be covered :)
Hopeful, how sweet you got a hamper :) Especially since it was on your desk and you weren't forced to make a speech like me!!!
No labour yet, boohoo. After I got up this morning I had what felt like a BH that lasted about 10 minutes and jesus I could barely speak it was so bad... Not much happening since... come on already! My poor mother is in the air so it would be pretty funny timing if it happened now LOL

Hi girls anyone ready or close? Hope your all feeling okay, it's getting excited for you all!!
Allyoop: Oliver is about 20 mins from home and 10 mins from the hospy I'm in. I'm allowed out to visit for 2 hours each day which I am loving.
I've just given Finn his second feed for the day, little hungry man. Was up at 3.30 expressing which I'm slowly getting the hang of. My boobies are killing me but getting there.
Nikki re the photos I'm getting some done in 2 weeks once I have Oliver home. Can't wait to see them I agree they will be great done at such a young age.
Oliver doing well Finn a little piggy feeding well. Hope you are all doing well. You are all going to love being Mummies, I've niot stopped staring at them in awe.

No labour here.... Still waiting!!!
hopeful - how cool to arrive to work to a cute little baby hamper!! How exciting!! :goodvibes: It may seem daunting now but your week will be over before you know it.
Jet - Still think you're going to pop before me especially with painful BH!! When does your mum get here? Tomorrow? Maybe baby is waiting just that little longer for her! .... BTW how do you spell IVF wrong? Did I miss something?
lissy - thanks for your well wishes. Have been stalking you here and there too. Hopefully you are feeling better now and ready to start cycling soon. I have everything crossed that this year is your year!!! :fingerscrossed:
no photo shoots booked here and I don't know if our hospital does them or not. We will just play it by ear. I really don't want to pay too much for photos but at the same time don't want to miss out on some precious newborn shots. I think I'll wait and see.
Aw Sparkles you sound so happy :) it's lovely :) Go Oliver & Finn!!!
Angeleish you crack me up. I had it spelt IFV for months and nobody told me LOL. Mum gets here tonight, yay! She will no doubt get teary (a) when she sees me & the bump and (b) when she sees the baby capsule in the car and that's only in the first 5 minutes of her visit so you can just imagine what she'll be like when the baby comes. If it's a girl, she will get mum's name as a middle name so the woman will have to be sedated she'll be so overcome... That was the compromise I came to with DH: I don't want middle names but he does. So since they will get his family's surname he suggested they get my parents' names as middle names. You can't really argue with that now can you!!
AND OH MY GOD ANGELEISH YOU HAVE CRACKED SINGLE DIGIT DAYS!!!
angeleish
27-04-2010, 09:22
Single digets......crapola... I have too!! Forgot about that. I think I just feel like an elephant that will be gestating forever and have kind of lost track of my due date!!!
Your mum sounds like mine. (Although when I sent her a picture last night she did make the not so nice comment that I was "bloody huge".... hmm gee thanks mum). She got teary when she went to an ob appointment with me and heard the heart beat. Don't know what she'll do when she actually sees the baby for the first time!!
It's lovely about the middle names! I'm sure your family will be rightly chuffed!!
sparkles - I think we posted at the same time. I'm glad that you're allowed to go visit Oliver. I was wondering if you had been allowed to see him or not. They both sound like little troupers and you sound like you are such a natural as a mum. Well done!! Can't wait to cross the other side and become a mum. Your posts make me so excited!!
JetGirl - I'm sure your mum will be teary, she is allowed to get all emotional as the grandmother :)
Angeleish - I originally thought I'd just take photos myself but then I decided I'd really like some family shots first up of all three of us and they change so quickly at that young age. So many people I know who didn't get photos early on said it was one of their biggest regrets because it's hard to remember how small they were, so we've decided to bite the bullet and do it.
Sparkles - I'm so jealous you have your babies already, although I am sure it must be hard be being separated from Oliver. I'm glad they let you go visit for a couple of hours a day, does your DH visit him in between?
Lissy - nice to hear from you :) Hope everything is going well for you too, you are right we are all at the business end of things here now, getting a bit nerve wracking as to who will be next.
AFM: Went to the monitoring place this morning and they kept me a little bit longer to watch the baby's heart accelerate and see them move around because their baseline was a bit lower than normal. They said I should come back tomorrow, but it's all still within normal range. She was really nice to me, reassuring but as a soon to be mum everything that is slightly 'out' makes me very nervous and I'm now going to be very antsy until tomorrows appointment. She said that if I get really edgy to come back in again to be checked again.

Good morning girls :)
sparkles: wow what a long op - that must have been a terrible wait. It was absoutely grueling when we had to wait for DD's 2 heart surgeries and got all worried if the beeper we were given went off before the time they said it would take. That is so nice that you are allowed to leave and go visit Oliver where he is and that he is getting BM via NG tube to help him grow and get stronger.
Jet: Wow homemade gnocci! Well done - i would never have the energy for something like that this late into pg. What kind of camera does your DH shoot with - is it a digital? We have a flash gun for our Nikon DSLR too but if you do lots of reading on taking photos of babies they often say not to use a flash (at least not pointed at baby) as it can damage their developing eyes.
Hopeful: Sounds like you came into work this morning and got a lovely suprise basket - how awesome! Only 3 more days to go - woohooo! I bet you can't wait...
Not all hospitals do the photo thing. The main hospy here doesnt and neither does the smaller private hospital but the other one where I am giving birth does have a photographer come around and take photos that you can then buy if you want them. I don't know if we'll do those ones too as we have a photographer booked to do 5 sessions with our boy in the first year (nb, 3mths, 6mths, 9mths and 12 mths and a mat photo of me). If you're wanting NB photos done most pro photographers wont do them past 2 weeks as they start to wake up then and don't curl up so well anymore and generally you need to book well in advance to find someone decent in my experience. Here in Canberra and the few I looked at in Sydney suggest booking 3 or so months before your edd. The other option available in the bigger cities (incl Canberra) is that there is often a stand in the mall that does photos of baby on a black backdrop and you can order just the prints you want etc (think the prints cost a reasonable amount as usually you don't pay anything for them to take the photos) and they're very classic NB style portraits.
If one wasnt getting NB (as in the very first weeks of life) photos done but thinking of doing them later I'd personally wait until they were closer to 3 mths (or later) as that's the next major developmental change (holding head up easily and can often grab things etc) and can get cute photos then.
I personally can't wait to get our NB photos taken as I just LOVE newborns in knits and on textured blankets etc.

Nikki - how stressful. It is great that they are encouraging you to go back whenever you need to reassure yourself. I'm sure everything is fine, but definitely take them up on the offer of extra monitoring should you need that reassurance.
As for newborn photos I agree, I don't want to feel bad for missing some important shots but eventually a line has to be drawn over expenses. I don't get mat. leave pay and really want to stay at home for as long as possible so I need to find a place that does affordable photos and doesn't try to trap me into spending more than I want. At the end of the day my time with baby will have to come before photos. Hopefully that wont need to be the case though, and I can find somewhere that does photos at a reasonable cost.
(grr to having to move so soon after baby's birth.... it's got me paranoid about costs and money!!)
Angeleish - I agree, you have to weigh up the costs too. We were lucky to have found a professional photographer who is just starting up so they are not very expensive and do simple but nice photos. Really it's just for the sake of us having photos of the three of us together, otherwise it will be just me and bub or just DH and bub. I'm also going to take lots of video on our digital camera because I think that will be nice to look back on too and it's free! Maybe you can rope a friend of relative into taking some nice photos of the three of you in the garden or something like that, just so you have that family pic? Really you just want that memory to look back on, regardless of who took it.
Yay Hopeful nice work on the hamper!!! How exciting - and, yep, love the idea of no speech too! I woke up this morning wondering why the hell I thought I should work this week! I'm just hoping it goes quickly and painlessly!
Jet - I agree re middle names - if bub gets DH's last name then he/she will get my dad/mum's first name for their middle name!
Sparkles so glad you can see Oliver every day and how exciting that Finn has a healthy appetite!!! Glad Freemasons is looking after you both (and RCH for Oliver). You must be so very very very proud! Cannot WAIT to see pics!!!
Everyone - these tickers are really really really scary!!! It looks like it's going to be a REALLY busy couple of weeks in here!
angeleish
27-04-2010, 09:46
Yeah - I see your point Nikki. Don't worry, we will be supper camera happy here and have heaps of relos coming to visit. I'm sure they'll all be taking heaps of shots and videos.
I really wish money wasn't an issue and it may not be (it will depend on our expenses with the move etc and whether or not we will get the baby bonus). Who knows, we might cope better than we think with money in which case photos may be an option. I just don't want to get my heart set on something if it isn't a realistic option.
Now remember.... take it easy today and if you need to go back for more monitoring do so. Not long until your eviction date now!!

Sparkles - yay for the feeding going well and being able to visit Oliver every day - won't be long until you are all home together!
I was just looking at all your tickers - c'mon girls, some of you are just days off!
Just booked a home visit from the CHN, she will be here tomorrow to weigh Lucy and check her out. Hoping she has put on some weight as she was only a tiny 2.860 kg's when we left hospy on Thursday ... I will be happy if she has regained her birth weight!
I'm also feeling a bit dizzy, light headed today - not sure if it's just tiredness or iron playing up. So much for saying how fab I was feeling - jinxed myself
Ok, I'll be checking back for birth announcements soon ;)

angel: I hope you and DH find somewhere to live soon. I would find it a nightmare moving at this stage. Don't forget you should also qualify for FTB part B as long as you aren't working at all (so probably wont qualify until after July this year) but that is about $130 or so a fortnight from memory (there's a form on the centrelink website where you can find out how much money you'll get from them) and if your DH makes (i think) under $85,000 you'll get some of FTB part A.
Jet, Wishing and anyone else in Sydney: I got an email this morning from Gymboree (my fav American childrenswear store) that they are opening a store THIS thursday in the children's precinct at Westfields Parramatta. I can't beleive it LOL anyways I have a 20% off voucher that I can forward via email if any of you would like it and they are having heaps of give aways (incl $100 gift cards and $500 shopping sprees). It's on from thurs and all weekend. If any of you are going to go I'd love a report on what their prices were like and what they had in store :D as last year they had a firetruck line and would LOVE to get some things from this line that were sold out in the USA when i bought my stuff.
www.gymboree.com (http://www.gymboree.com)
http://www.gymbohaven.com/gymboreelines/home.html (to look at older lines - would think that last years autumn/winter lines are what will be in store here)
Angeleish - thanks I'm taking it easy today on the couch and just making sure bub keeps kicking and rolling around. I'll be back there tomorrow for more monitoring. I am just at the point now I wish they'd just induce me already :hissy:.
Cat21 - DH and I agreed to that the other day regarding the name it was getting too hard then I realised that the baby will already have his family's last name so it can have the middle name from my family. We both agreed this was fair and the best politically sound outcome. Don't you hate that things get political in that way.
Hi Nikki - yep, names can be quite political! I have the added disadvantage of some high expectations on DH's side re the grandparents name (gotta love the European influence - we both have it but it's a tad more traditional on DH's side)! Now if only we can agree on first names!!!
Re photos - I'm also in two minds re the professional portraits. The hospital pics really are lovely these days compared to those hideous pics they used to do. I'm trying to decide whether to get some professional ones done a month or so after the birth...there are some gorgeous photographers around but I am struggling to justify the exceptional price tags that accompany the shoots alone (let alone the packages).

Hi Girls
I have been training my replacement for the past two hours and now need a rest LOL.
The basket is awesome. Its a massive blue pail/bucket with all sorts of goodies.. Its staring me in the face but I want to keep it intact till i get home so I can show DH! Oohh I SOOOO wanna go thru it LOL
Sparkles- great to hear from u hun. You sound so cute and in awe of ur little bubbies, I love it! Thats great u are feeding so well and before u know it u will have both ur little boys home with u.
Lilyj- hope u are feeling better. Did u do ur school run this morning?
angeleish- i understand completely where u are coming from. I have not heard from our real estate agent so I hope that means we dont have to move, but we will see... :fingerscrossed: Why are u not sure if u will get the baby bonus? Is it means tested? I can't remember. I don't get paid m/l either but I have three weeks of leave that will pay me right up to bubs due date which is nice. My DH earns a pretty good wage but child support is a killer.. thankfully, FTB takes into consideration what his pay is LESS child support when paying me benefits while I am on leave.
Nikki- Don't worry, i know its hard but isn't it? And yes, for sure take them up on the offer and go back in if u feel like it ok! Monash have always said that to me!
Cat/Jet- Hey YEAH i didnt think of the speech thing- YAY!! Cat, I feel the same about work. I have a lot to do but am going to pace myself and not stress out.
who hasn't checked in this morning? Boo?
I can't beleive the tickers- I mean, I reckon MINE looks crazy and i'm at the other end LOL
Hopeful - that gift sounds really sweet, I'd want to be digging around in it as well, but it's nice of you to wait so DH can unwrap it too :)
Where is Boo? Hopefully her absence means she has gone into labour
Hopeful, well done on the restraint - I'd have ripped into it already!
No SMS from Boo - phone is on my desk so will let you all know ASAP if I hear anything. She has been sounding REALLY close (although so have you, Jet!).

27-04-2010, 12:11
Wasnt Boo getting induced this week sometime or was that someone else?
Hopeful: I too think you've got some restraint! I dont think i would be able to wait to see what was in the basket...but how nice to share it with DH.
Yes the baby bonus now has a threshold. You must have adjusted taxable income (http://www.bubhub.com.au/Payments/familyassistance/baby_bonus/Pages/adjusted_taxable_income.aspx) of less than or equal to $75,000* for the period of 6 months from the date of birth of the child to qualify.
http://www.familyassist.gov.au/Payments/familyassistance/baby_bonus/Pages/default.aspx
This is the link to find out if you are eligible for FTB part A&B (tried to find the calculator ive used before but no luck!)
http://www.familyassist.gov.au/Payments/fa_payment_rates/Pages/default.aspx
I'm Here
Sorry been busy this morning doing BAS statements for THREE companies, all due tomorrow , same day I'm due to give birth. But for some reason I don't think the ATO cares about that!
Earth - Yes thats me being induced this week :smiliedance:, on thursday if she hasn't made an appearance before hand.
Earthangel - thanks for the info on the baby bonus. Any extra income will be helpful, even if just for nappies. Apparently our hospital gives us a pack just after labour which includes that information too, they told us during our antenatal classes to guard that pack with our lives because it contains a whole heap of important paperwork
I'm sitting here kick counting, my BP must be through the roof. Having babies makes a woman anxious
Boo - good to hear from you, but not good as well, was hoping you were in labour not doing tax! I did my BAS last week too and will do the BAS for the other business this week as well. Like you I am trying to get it done before bub arrives because otherwise the ATO will be breathing down our necks.
EarthAngel75
27-04-2010, 12:31
Boo: well thats not a very exciting reason to be MIA! Bummer about having to get it done - but all too true is better to have done now than later...
I think the baby bonus works out to be about $384/fn.
Because I will not be working and DH earns less than $150,000 we will also be getting $134(ish) from FTB part B/fn as well.
Then because DH earns less than $92,000 we will also get about $50/fn from FTB part A (you get more depending on how much less then $92,000 your DH makes - those only earning about $45,000 get full FTB part A)
Found another website that explains the FTB a little better for anyone interested:
http://www.careforkids.com.au/articlesv2/article.asp?ID=20
Earthangel - so if I don't have a taxable income during the financial year I am eligible for Part B too? I thought it was only for sole parents, shows how much I know!
EarthAngel75
27-04-2010, 12:45
Nikki: Yes as long as your DH does not make more than $150,000/year and you make no (or very little $) than yes you get FTB part B also :)
So for this current financial year almost all the girls in this thread will get nothing since you've been working most of the tax year. However as of July 2010 none of you will be working and you will become eligible for FTB part B.
hopefulmama2b
27-04-2010, 12:48
yup Nikki, you can be eligible for both a and b just depends on your combined income. i think from memory i will only get the one not both.
try not to stress btw.. bob has been realllly kick quiet lately, but then i will start to stress that i haven't felt him for a few hours and the little bugger will start moving around lol.
Hopeful - I have just been feeling kicks so I am feeling a bit more reassured. It's just a bit scary because normally bub is so active they are bruising me from the inside and they keep telling me I am a high risk pregnancy even though things have been going so well, it does make me a bit hyper-vigilant.

Why is it when i wake up feeling like i actually slept (in that i didnt wake up to go pee or remember waking to turn over heaps) that I am exhuasted all day? I am so bloody tired and can't stop yawning today and I have my ob app this arvo so had to take the car which means i have to pick DH up etc and it's all just so exhuasting!
Earthangel - yesterday I only had 6 hours of sleep and I felt fine and was active most of the day Monday. Then last night I had a whole 8 hours and I woke up feeling exhausted. No rhyme or reason sometimes. I even had to ask DH to take time off to drive me to the city this morning because I was so tired.

earthangel - thanks for the links. I'll have to do some reading. I hadn't even thought about FTB.
boo - what a riveting morning you've had (not). You must be getting so excited now!!
nikki - I'm sure everything is fine. . but this morning's monitoring would make you more anxious. Take it easy.
Hi girls,
Wow I've missed heaps today. I went shopping with a friend - stocked up on more cloth nappies for spew rags and throwing over the change table (genius) and laundry powder LOL. Big W are awesome for bulk laundry & dishwashing powder. The box I got last time has lasted most of my pregnancy!!
Nikki how are you going now? They said it was still within normal so your bub could just be having an off day... I'm sure it'll be grand tomorrow.
Boo come on, do some starjumps or something :D
I can't remember what anybody else was talking about... The FTB etc hurts my head, I'll just fill in the forms and see what happens!! I know we get sod all because my annual bonus arrives just inside the 6 month threshold and puts us just over the 75k. Very unfortunate! But hey at least we got IVF & Obstetrician fees just before they changed the Medicare rules around that...
I am feeling shocking today. TMI alert but I had lunch at a friend's and just before I left I popped into the loo. Well 20 minutes later I was finally done... I have never been so constipated in my life! And I was having painful BHs and sciatica at the same time which didn't help matters! My lower back is in absolute tatters, my pelvis keeps moving in places it shouldn't be moving and randomly trapping nerves and I'm just soooooooooooo sore and tired and cranky the last day or so. It's like frickin the worst PMT ever. I have a massage booked tomorrow night, my last one, and on the one hand I want to cancel cos I can't really afford it but on the other hand she has offered to try to bring on labour (whatever that means) plus I'm in so much pain so I'm like, YES PLEASE!!!
Oh some good news - the aircon is going in on Friday, YAY! Awesome timing or what, it's frickin cold here today. OK I know 20 isn't cold but I'm cold!! I'm drinking far too much tea, really must cut down... OK enough whingeing. Sorry girls!! :(

27-04-2010, 16:29
Jet - the FTB stuff hurts my head too. I just filled out my forms that came in that hospital pack they give you but it was easy because we get a big fat nothing. No baby bonus, no FTB at all either :(
Boo - where is that baby of yours!!
Girls, just a word of advice BUY HEAPS OF NAPPIES! Lucy is a poo'ing machine. I am talking - change a nappy, do up her jumpsuit, hear explosion of poo. Change nappy again, do up jumpsuit, hear another explosion of poo and repeat a further 2 times! So I went through 5 nappies in as many minutes!!!!
LOL lillyj :D I think I have 400 nappies so that's a week's worth right ;)
angeleish
27-04-2010, 17:12
lily - that is hilarious!! How can one tiny little girl make so much work for her mummy. ..... Don't worry I probably wont be laughing in a few weeks when it happens to me. (BTW we have a stash of 3 boxes of newborn nappies. Hopefully that will keep us going for a bit!)
jet - sorry to hear you are having a crap day. I find some days are more painful than others. Not much longer and your mum will be here soon to take care and look after you! well done on the shopping though. Might have to check out this bulk detergent that you speak of!
Jet - sounds like you are having a very uncomfortable day, about time bub made an entrance I think!
LillyJack - I have more nappies than I can poke a stick at, everyone wants to give them to me.
Angeleish - thanks :) I'll let everyone know tomorrow how I am feeling. Baby has been moving around more this afternoon, doing their usual twists and twirls.
Nikki, glad to hear bub is moving around more! Mine was quieter than usual today too, maybe they're getting ready to come out ;)
EarthAngel75
27-04-2010, 18:44
Jet: sounds like you had a rough day with your pg. Hopefully it's better tomorrow. YAY for the aircon going in on Friday - with all of these new things have you and DH considered putting solar panels on your roof? It's bloody cheap as chips at the moment (think about $3k for a 1 or 1.5kw system) and NSW now has a buy back scheme where any extra power generated they buy back from you at 50c/kw (last i saw in the news). DH and I plan to do this next year and hopefully they'll still have spaces in the buyback program (limited number of spots i beleive).
Ohh and DH and I have been buying bulk laundry powder from Big W or Kmart for a few years now lol. It's just sooo much easier to buy a big box and not have to worry about it for months on end. Not to mention it's usually cheaper too. I actually also have started using plain el cheapo white vinegar instead of fabric softener (hate stiff clothes/towels from the line) and you can use it with baby's things (not supposed to use fabirc softener due to it leaving a film on the clothes which is a fire hazard). It doesnt leave a smell at all and leaves everything nice and soft.
Lilly: LOL@ the pooping machine! that made me laugh. Ive heard some babies really do poo literally all the time and yet others can go for 5-7 days - strange how there is such a difference. We have quite a number of NB nappies but think our boy will outgrow them before we use them all since he's looking to be big. But we have such a large stash from DD that we have enough nappies to last us past xmas!!! (with an assumption that a large box lasts 2 weeks) and they're in both of the Huggies larger sizes.
Jet and Nikki: My boy was somewhat quiter than normal for the last few days but today was bouncing around - think he was having a growth spurt or some down time hehe
lillyjack
27-04-2010, 18:54
Nikki - don't turn down those nappies ...
Angeleish - I had a large box of nappies plus a further packet and thought that was going to be enough until she was in the next size up .... looks like I was way off
I find the poo'ing to be the most annoying thing, she doesn't like her clothes to be off (hope that continues well into adolescence ;)) and screams when I change her!
Just got the bill from the peadiatrician ... $430  well that's certainly gone up since I last had a baby, considering he spent a whole 5 mins looking her over .... arrrggghh I hate medical bills!
Now just waiting on my epidural bill :(
Lilly - Wow that's quite a bill, does the PHI pay for that?
Earthangel - Thanks for the reassurance :hugs:
Jet - I hope that these are all signs of you going into labour soon, sounds like you are ready.
I went into the labour ward because I wasn't happy with baby not being as active and my sister called me up and told me not to sit around worrying just go in and get checked over again so I did. They did some tests and checked the heart rate and it's all up again and there is good movement and variance. They gave me a kick chart and told me day or night to come back if I was at all concerned. They also explained that they wanted to hold off induction until 39 weeks because babies of diabetics tend to have slightly underdeveloped lungs if induced too early so they want to leave them to bake as long as they can without getting too close to term. It's a fine balancing act. However if they thought there was even a hint of a problem they would have induced me today. So am back at home now, with my kick chart and will go back for my appointment tomorrow. So close to the end it's all getting so nerve wracking now.
Why do you get a bill from the paedatrician?? Does PHI cover it? I thought we had no more to pay :(
Earth yeah would love to go solar but no money left :) maybe next year. We do have solar hot water which is fantastic.
Mum is here and has already asked us to text her if I go into labour, jeez. DH is adamant nobody knows so this should be fun...
Nikki I just saw your post. Glad everythings looking good. I hope the kick chart doesn't stress you out more. You're nearly there petal!!
JetGirl - I would probably not tell, the midwife said she's seen people stressing during labour because well meaning family and friends call to check up on progress reports. In my case I'll most likely be induced so people will know I'm in hospital but not if I'm in labour.
Yeah Nikki agree, we got the same advice. It's just hard to explain to my mother!!
It's hard to explain that concept to ANY mother. My mum will not be impressed if we do not give her hourly updates

I am in the crankiest mood girls  LOL
My boy dog has decided to do POOS like THREE times in my house tonight!!!
PLUS my kitchen sink tap thingy is leaking.. not enough to flood but enough to be a PITA and I can't be home tomorrow for someone to come fix it as i am at monash GRRR lol
This anger is bringing on some braxton hicks and making me sore LOL...
Hopeful - sorry :hugs:, it gets harder towards the end and things just stress you more don't they. Sit down and try and relax through your contractions, maybe make yourself something tasty as a treat :)

thanks Nikki, I saw u went to hospy, good on u, its better to be safe than sorry! Sounds like u are in good hands there xxx
Jet- its hard isn't it? another reason I am in a crabby mood is because my family are slightly driving me nuts. my mum and DH are my birth partners and my dad will be at the hospy too probably.. just not in with us coz that would be weird.. and one of my sisters works at monash and she is all like ohh so can i pop in if I am working, and my other sister (whom i love dearly but she is LOUD and a drama queen and just realllly ott) is like ohh as soon as ur in labour I will be on my way to the hospital and my cousin whom I am also really close with wants to be there.. FFS!! NO ONE apart from mum dad and DH will be there. DH is texting NO ONE when I go into labour.. u know, its kinda private! lol
Funny how we're all in the same boat :D I'm gonna try the old "cos the midwife said so" ;)
Hopeful, have some chocolate, it fixes everything!!
TMI alert...
Yet more mucus plug tonight. 3 weeks of painful BHs and mucus plug shows - I better have a very short active labour!!!
Speaking of which, Boo how's it hangin?
Morning
Jet, I'm still here. I'm hearing you on the plug, been losing it for days now :o.
Last OB appointment today :smiliedance: although I have no energy to go.
Nikki/Hopeful - Good Luck this morning with your appointments.

Good morning girls :)
My mum will actually be staying with us more than likely when i go into labour (unless i go before 38.5w which is unlikely) so she'll know but she doesnt have a mobile hehe so can't interupt with asking for updates and our mobiles will be off anyways I think. I don't want the distractions.
Hopeful: Sorry to hear about your dog doing naughty things. That drives me crazy esp when baby is so close to coming. My oldest male cat peed inside about a month ago and I threatened him that if he did it again he'd be gone as I dont want to deal with that and a new baby! Seems he was listening lol as he hasnt done it again.
Jet: Here's hoping your labour is going to be short one with all this prelabour/BH you seem to be having :) We also have solar hot water - isnt it great? Same boat as you though in that we have no money at the moment for panels but it's one of the first things on our list for next year.
Boo, hopefuly and Nikki: Have fun at your ob/hospy app's today :)
It's pretty darn cold now - hate when it goes from too warm to pretty darn cold in a matter of a day - where's the warning for our bodies to get used to it!
Earth I hear ya on the cold! It's so sudden it really messes with your system! Good point about having mobiles off during labour ;)
Wow Boo, last OB appt, now there's a milestone!
lillyjack
28-04-2010, 08:56
Nikki & Jet - The pead charges just like an OB, heaps for the first appointment and then a lesser amount for the follow up at 6 weeks. Although they usually come and visit you twice in the hospy (1st time soon after the birth, second time just before you leave). Medicare will rebate some of it but I'm pretty sure PHI doesn't cover the rest :(
I reckon I'm prob over the safety net again by now so I might get more back? Little Lucy has certainly put a huge dint in the bank balance but she is just soooooo worth it :D DH and I have been calling her our little "designer baby"

hey girls morning
with your labour plan thingy just put in a few things like no visitors until you say
when i got out from recovery the midwife only let dh hold seth until i had breast feed him and when i got to the room the midwife wanted him straight on the breast so she actually asked everyone to go to the waiting room while i bonded with the baby and then it doesnt look like your being the horrible person and when its rest time make sure you tell them you do not want people to come during rest time its amazing how many people try and sneak in so they can see the baby by themselves very annoying
hopeful that was funny about the buddle i hadnt noticed lol
nikki hope all is good this morning
earth about the cold imagine been a baby nice warm place and then freezing no wonder they cry when they come out poor little things

Boo - woo hoo on your last appointment. Isn't tomorrow eviction day?? How exciting!!
Jet - Sounds like your body is doing all the right things to get you ready for labour. Hopefully not long to go.
ally - thanks for sharing your experience with Seth. One of my biggest fears if I end up with a c-sec is everyone seeing and holding my baby before I do. I've told DH that I don't want my family to see baby until I am there as I want to see their faces the first time they see their grand child. Hopefully they can respect that!
sparkles - Hope your boys are great. What a week you've had!
earth - I'm actually loving the sudden change to cold!! We even turned our heating on for a while which was nice!! I'm not a fan of hot weather so am loving it now.... even if it did get cold really quickly.
cat - Is it your last week of work??? Surely it must be close.
Have we seen wishing in these parts lately???

Cat: the boys are not going to come home with me on Saturday unfortunately. They are going to wait for Oliver to come back here and the get their booby feeds on a routine like Finn is getting now, then we should be able to go home at what would of been my 38 week mark. Finn could go home but the paed decided one home both hone may be better for us. Going to be a tough day for me Saturday.
Angel: no lie it's been a hard week and I've hit day 4 emotions like a bus. All these feelings and emotions flood out it's crazy!
Angel - yep, last week of work! Only two days and 6 3/4 hours to go! Not that I'm counting! Have my arvo tea this afternoon (and hopefully a BIG present) :)
Sparkles - will be thinking of you on Saturday. I was going to say you've had double the emotions but that would be completely understating it. Please take care and know that we're all thinking of you (and looking forward when we can join you for a latte and a walk in the park with our bubs too!).
Haven't seen Wishing - I think Momof6 might be due this week too?
