HI,
Just thought I would pass this by all of you and get your opinions on what you think.
I have just been on the phone to my PHI company, we took out this policy on 9th March 2010 but was with another PHI for a while (not 12 months) but cancelled it and didn't transfer the continuity of cover thing as it saved us paying money to the date we changed over to new company IYKWIM (was a few hundred $ we owed) as they up'd our premium by $70pm when we moved to Victoria from WA and wasn't happy about paying so much more, hence changing to another PHI (sorry for the rant :ecomcity: )
ANYHOW, DH and I decided to cancel our current policy because we have decided to get my DH's vasectomy reversal (VR) prior to the 12 month waiting period being over and we are trying to cut costs where we can to afford the extra $$$ we will need to pay to get VR done sooner then once VR was done we would take out new policy with same company ready for if/when we have a bubba.
The lady I spoke to from the PHI was so nice when I told her what we wanted to do and why then she asked me to hold, came back and asked dates etc for the referral GP gave us to see OB etc, put me on hold again then came back and after talking to her manager she thinks that MAYBE they can cover VR using the PHI still as it is a 'grey area' regarding if needing a VR is classed as pre existing condition.
She said technically just because he had a vasectomy doesn't necessarily make needing a VR a pre existing condition and based on what the Dr's say on the forms she is sending me to weather the will class it as "pre existing" but they may be able to cover costs...
I assumed we'd have to wait the 12 months but maybe not... what do you think? maybe they are just pulling our legs to make us keep our policy a bit longer before cancelling it for a few months... hmmmmm
I hope they will cover it would save us soooooo much $$$ :yelclap::fingerscrossed:
