Hi there,
does anyone have any info on restless legs?
The last couple of nights the desire to move my legs around has driven me batty. I've just spent the last 3 hours in bed trying to sleep and banging my legs around trying to get rid of the restless feeling in them (like I need to go for a walk or something).
Anyway that's why I'm up and surfing the net at 1.50am in the morning.
Just googled it online and some sites are saying iron or magnesium deficiency - anyone got any ideas?

I just drank heaps and up the amount of yoga I was doing and it went away!
Good luck!

Iknow what you mean, restless legs have been driving me crazy for the last couple of weeks. I'm only 17weeks preg but I find putting a pillow between my legs seems to help as well as making sure my feet aren't too warm. If I wake up with restless legs I take my socks off and stick my feet out of the covers, seems to help. Also found that if I couldn't sleep because it was so bad big bro up late would soon put me back to sleep! LOL:D
Goodluck, hope it settles down for you

This drove me mad through my entire pregnancy. I found that sleeping with a wheat pack I had kept in the freezer helped. I also went through loads of the Body Shop Peppermint Foot lotion. I would rub in on the backs of my calves. If I was lucky my husband would do it for me and give me a heavy duty calf massage at the same time and this seemed to help. Since having my baby boy 5.5 months ago I still get restless legs occassionally.

This is driving me crazy right now! I'm up surfing the net for information. I am 31 weeks pregnant. Apparently, codeine can help. I took two panadeine the other night and it did seem to help a little. Since last week I have had to wait until I am literally exhausted (1 or 2 in the morning) so that I can fall asleep and then I'm up several times throughout the night.

I used to have this all the time and it drove me insane used to get insomnia when i was pregnant. I found streaching when you get up and streaching b4 you go to sleep can help. But I havnt found anything else other than a massge that helps :(

Yeah, I get this every single night now, well have been for about a month, and still have three to go! I think panadol does help alot, but I only take them when I really really can't handle it any longer. Try and distract yourself too, by reading etc, and stretching helps as well before bed.

Good luck!

Yeah I should have mentioned that as well - sleep with your feet on a pillow.

absolutely sucks!

ive had it off & on for years & years... but only found out 'it' had a name [& i wasnt insane] once i was preggas with #1 & hubby was rubbing my feet & watching me have nearly epileptic fits with my legs every night in my pregnancy... we researched it..

it seems to come & go, no matter what ive tried..
i even know of a few oldies who have had it for donkeys years & have no solutions... there are lots of theories, the magnesium thing is like the latest, but there is really no real evidence for anything..

the only definite thing i know doesnt help is the heat in bed thing.. too hot definetly exacerbates...

sighhhhh, more joys of womanhood!:crying:

good luck to all you gals

hi gals,
well i've been taking powdered magnesium (originally for leg cramps but thought i'd give it a go for the restless legs too) and iron suppliments.
and guess what?
no more restless legs.
think it probs took about 3 days for the iron and mag to work but have to say it's nice not to be twitching and restling the covers every night trying to get comfy.
just thought i'd let you know what's worked for me.
cheers!
