View Full Version : MCN - Flip/ Bumgenius
Through hours of research I have decided to go with MCN, I have chosen the New Flip Nappy range by Bumgenius as rather than having to purchase a full set of Inserts and outers, I really only need to stock up on the inserts, which is going to save $$$$ and I will only need to buy the one size as they are a one size nappy.
I will also save time as only needing to wash the inserts every time and being able to reuse the outers until they need washing.
I may be in fantasy land and this may not work as easily as i can predict, I would love any feedback from anyone who may have used this range.

I cant say i have used the bumgenius flip nappy range so i cant give you any advice there, but i totally know where you are coming from in the way of the prices you are paying internationally versus buying here in Australia. Even with the shipping the costs it works out so much cheaper buying from the U.S. But you definately need to check out whether they will ship here to Aus and what the costs are as some charge a heap and some not so much so definately pays to do a little research for sure.
I hear you.
No idea why Aussie nappies are so much more expensive. It's ridiculous.
The US Ebay site has cloth diapers too.. and some sellers ship internationally.

some of the best nappies i had with ds was the eenee weenee brand. i didn't have many of there inserts but when he was little i cut an old terry flat in half and just used that. when he started peeing more heavily i used a whole terry flat. most of my flats i got from op shops and from ebay for less than $1 each. much cheaper than brand new and most of them looked brand new.
i also invested in a few bummis covers and used them over the top of a terry flat when both my kids were newborn. i did use disposables with dd overnight and when we went out but otherwise it was cloth at home. when she started to wet through the one terry flat i used some of my half terry's folding in a pad shape put it in the wet zone so she had more layers. i used to also buy the homebrand liners (about $2 for a box of 100) and i found that they were too big so i cut them in half and if they were only wet i washed them a couple of times until they got holes in them. saved heaps of money that way.
maybe get a couple of the mcn's for outings and a couple of good night nappies and just use flats and covers or eenee's when you are at home.

i can get 108 newborn disposable nappies for $26. but i buy factory seconds from nappy land. they are mostly babylove brand and 99% of them are in perfect condition. some have a little extra material at the sides but work just like the normal ones.

to be honest - there is absolutely nothing wrong with the factory seconds that i get. the nappies are in every way the same as the baby love i can buy in the shops but at about 1/2 the cost. the only reason they are seconds is that the pictures might be wrong (but who cares) or the might have a little extra material near the legs so they sell them cheaper. and while huggies used to be the brand of choice disposable nappies have come a long way over the years and different brands suit different children better than others. i had a lot of leakages from huggies with dd, but absolutely none with baby love. just because they cost more doesn't mean they are better.
I have just placed and order..
1 Flip Organic Pack -2 Outers and 6 Inserts
2 Additional Organic Inserts
8 Additional Stay Dry Inserts
6 Packs of 18 Disposable inserts (which are not available here in australia)
Postage cost was only $13.12 AU with todays currency conversion, when you place the order it automatically calculates the weight, i think it goes up to about $30.00 when the order is over 1.5pounds in weight..
With that order i spent $206.00, I have saved $78.00 compared with the sale prices i can get here at the moment (nurturenappies have a sale on the flip) and have 108 disposable inserts for $26.00, you can't buy 108 disposable nappies here for $26.00.
Have you received them yet bub2010? Just wondering what they are like?
Wow 7 days! That is really good!
I'm thinking that I'd love to get my hands on a set to see what they are like... To see if the disposable bit is like the eenie weenie ones.
Thanks for the review. : ) Hasn't our weather been chilly.
