Hi Charmaine,
I don't personally know anything much about prams yet but I've started doing some research and found this site with some reviews.... might be useful for you.

I had a single MB and LOVED it. CAnnot speak highly enough about it. I now have a Phil and Ted's E3 and find things wrong with it all the time and am sure it is because I compare it with the superior quality of the MB.

let us know how you go charmzy... I've also been looking at the MB twin and the valco twin as i have twins due in jan and DS will be 18months.
Don't like the idea of tandems.
like the fact the Valco ( we have the valco runabout deluxe atm) has the toddler seat.
Have been searching and searching but can't find any other twin side by sides that have a toddler seat...grrr.
hope your search comes up positive!!

Hi Charmzy,

We have two boys, 15 months apart, now 2 and-a bit and 1. As our eldest was still sleeping in his pram when no. 2 was born, I wanted more support than a toddler seat. We looked at tandems, and at so many other side-by-sides. The main problem I had with other prams was that Gabriel's head was already touching the top in twin models, and his legs were cramped in tandems, (he's tall, but not exceptionally so!) so we needed something with more room. The Mountain Buggy has more head room and a great seating capacity at 50kg overall. We LOVE this pram!!

It is incredibly easy to manoeuvre - SURE, it IS wide, but if you're going for a side-by-side, it's going to be wide anyway, and with the MB, the kids get the benefit - the width is in the seat size, not in huge bulky wheels etc. This pram handles like a jogger - it turns 'on a 10c piece' and if you read about '1 finger steering', it's NOT a gimmick - you can literally turn this pram (fully loaded with two toddlers) using 1 finger! Cough!, not that safety conscious parents DO that or anything!..

The MB folds easily and well, although you can't change the width - we have a Landcruiser, so it's not an issue, but I don't know about boot space in smaller cars. The material of the pram is sort of a heavy oiled canvas, and doesn't offer a lot in the way of padding, so I would recommend sheepskin liners.

We bought the carrycot attachment for our youngest, and I’d say it’s essential for newborns. The pram allows you to attach one carrycot and keep one normal seat for your older child, or two separate carrycots (and I think that for people who’d like to keep their twins closer, you can get a single unit that fits them both together). The excellent thing about the carrycots is that they face backwards, so you can always see the bubs! They are also quite comfy – our littlie slept like a log in his every time! The carrycots are smaller that the average bassinette, and with that I found no need to use a harness. One thing we didn’t like about using a carrycot for our little one, and the normal seat for our toddler at the same time, was that the sunshade is meant to be removed, as it no longer fits properly while you have the mixed seating – our guys are very fair, and while we used the carrycot, the sun was a real problem for our toddler.

We use ours for shopping, outdoors, and it’s even brilliant when we go camping. No problems with aisles in shops or with lifts or escalators, although we can only fit through certain CHECKOUTS – but I’ve never been in a shop that didn’t have at least one checkout I could use.

There’s heaps of room in the basket, although there is a strap that cuts access from the back. The seats are easy to adjust, and very smooth, so when the kids fall asleep, you don’t wake them putting the seat down, and they go from pretty much horizontal to vertical. You can also attach a kiddie board to the MB Double, something that we will be doing soon!

I know that the Mountain Buggy is an expensive option, but we bought ours (and the carrycot) brand new from an eBay store for a great price, and I have to say we haven’t regretted it for a second. We have had other single prams, and our MB double is nicer and easier to push! Smooth, comfy ride for the kids, love it, love it, love it!

I’d be happy to help you with any specific questions if you need more info, and the Mountain Buggy website is great! http://www.mountainbuggy.com/aus/urbandouble.html

charmzy, have you read the pram reviews on bubhub? That is where I first heard about the Mountain Buggy Twin.

I have since had a look at a few on eBay, just to get an idea of what they look like & how much one can go for second hand. (Although I wasn't able to find any of the twin ones on there at the moment, there were a few of the single ones.)

Also, since I started looking at them, I have noticed a few out & about. I have heard they are extremely hard-wearing & practical, but I just don't know if I like the look of them! I know, I know it doesn't matter, but still..........!

I love the look of the plain black ones

Oh, I hope I haven't offended anyone!! :o

I am just used to my Steelcraft Terrain Deluxe and it is all thick, padded suede-look fabrics and such. The Mountain Buggy I think looks a bit, I'm not sure how to word it..... bare I guess??

With the metal frame and canvas fabric, it just looks.... yeah! I dunno... bare!

I saw one yesterday actually when we were out & about & it was the one with the wire metal basket underneath. It was quite dirty too & it just made me think that it didn't really look worth the money. But I'm not sure, because every review & opinion I've ever seen or heard has raved about them!

thanks for the reviews

we ended up going for the adventure buggy twin as it takes a toddler seat and is made of steel so holds quite a bit more weight, and it comes with all the accessories too :)
