View Full Version : Does the mobile in the cot affecting your baby to sleep?
Hi Everyone,
I've recently noticed that when I put my 13 weeks old bub in her cot, she tends to look at the mobile and talk to it for a long time, e.g. 1 hour, before she'll fall to sleep...
Just wondering if anyone have the same problem? Or does any one place mobile in their baby's cot?
Thanks
Jess

So long as she's still getting enough sleep when she finally does drop off, I wouldn't worry. My DD did the same. Its wonderful that she can put herself to  for you

DS was and still is the same. Would sometimes play with his mobile for AGES!! Now we take his mobile down after 10minutes if hes still playing. I think its good for them to play on their own if their happy but aslong as its not affecting their sleep. DS is almost 1 now so if it plays for too long it throws out his entire routine.
My boy is the opposite! As soon as he sees it he knows whats happening - turn the music on and pretty much off he goes to sleep! If you don't turn it on, he cries and takes ages to nod off...
we have a mobile in my sons cot and have since birth - he is now 1 and he sleeps fine.

Yep a lifesaver here too especially in the mornings cause it actually allowed me to wake up to a child who was giggling at Pooh & Tigger give me enough time to dress, brush my hair & teeth then get him up ready for the day !
I wish i hadnt listened to all the "experts" & got my mobile from birth we didnt get ours till he was 5mths old.
If your lo talks to it & then takes herself off to sleep thats awesome !!!!
Boof being 17mths obviously doesnt have his up anymore but instead goes to sleep with 2 books, 2 dummies, his bear, his Pooh bear, his puppy & his Teletubbies "Po" One dummy for him the other for "Po" then the 2 books, bear, Pooh & puppy sit up the end & he is usually clinging a book sometime later when i check on him lol ! Now thats when its difficult cause you have to kiss them all goodnite lol so they score an extra 10mins of awake time while you say goodnite to everyone
