View Full Version : Pregnant & overweight
Hi there. I'm new to this - this site and pregnancy.
I was hoping to hear from any ladies (particularly in Melbourne) who are overweight and pregnant. I'm 10 weeks pregnant - the result of IVF -and 127kg. I have my 1st appointment with my OB on Tuesday & am petrified he'll tell me I'm too fat to have a baby. Have also heard scary stories of big mums being turned away from hospitals.
Any advice?

Hi Tam1 and welcome!
You poor thing, you shouldn't be starting such an exciting time feeling so worried. I'll warn you straight up that the OB may very well be a completely insensitive prat, so just prepare yourself for that and try to ignore their lack of bedside manner. I have fingers crossed for you that yours will be one of the good ones. (Do you have any friends who could recommend an OB for you?)
Yeah, some smaller hospitals have weight limits, but I am sure your OB will be able to tell you if that is the case at your hospital.
Try not to stress and just focus on having a healthy and happy pregnancy.
Best of luck,
Emma
