Ok I just got some more fluffy mail :smiliedance: I got another Greens Anytime, & a night time pack from Baby Beehinds

Now, it says to wash the nappy & boosters 3 times before use with no need to dry between washes - luckily i have heaps of washing to do today so thats been done.

My question is about the wool cover. It says to lanolise it, i've got lansinoh so no prob there, but should/would it hurt if i washed it first before lanolising?

Oh & should i just use it for day time for a bit so it gets more washes before using it at night?

Thanks experts :D

Re the wool cover:

DO NOT WASH IT!

it has already been lanolised (if its a baby beehind anyway)
And you should only wash it by hand in some wool wash about every 12 uses, just air in between using it. And lanolise it about every 3-4 washes.

HTH
I only know all this cause i washes mine in the machine with the nappies once and then found out that it might have shrunk cause i did that! And then had re lanolise it!

So only hand wash in luke warm water with wool wash. Then roll in towel and stand on it, then drip dry in the shade.
Check your intsructions from bb on how to lanolise.

hmmm... I don't think that it will be pre-lanolised. I am fairly confident that the beehinds fabric wool warps with velcro(apple, lavender, cream, blue and watermelon) aren't pre-lanolised.

The knitted possum pouches ones are pre-lanolised.

For instructions on lanolising have a read here:

The OzClothNappies FAQs are a great resource for questions like this one.

Good luck!

no harm in lanolising again, it'll just be more water resistant :D

This is what I do with mine:
After approx 6 weeks (using everyday but airing in between with 3 other covers) I wash with my other woolens (or maybe just a load of wool covers) in my frontloader on a wool wash cycle using a tiny bit of Softly. Then I soak overnight in a bucket of lanolin mix and the next day I spin dry in my machine (small risk of lanolin build up in the machine but with my regular washing and powder, it hasn't been an issue). Then dry out of the sun. Too easy.

OK i lanolised the wrap over night. Now it feels really sticky  I used a pea sized amount in hot water then diluted with cold till luke warm like BB site told me to.

Is that normal, or did i over lanolise?

Oh and would i be better off using the nappy of a day for a few uses before trusting it at night?

Thanks

lanolised covers do feel a bit tacky but it shouldn't be overly so...did the lanoline dissolve equally through the water?

Anyway, start off with them during the day to build up your confidence but they will be right to use at night from day dot.

RB - I'm so excited, lol. Can you keep me posted on how you go with these nappies as they're exactly the ones that I want to try - just saving my pennies.

P.S. - I'll be off to the fluffies warehouse probably first week of Sepetmber so I'll PM you beforehand to get your order

But thanks anyway :hugs:

No worries . That means they should be fine for my little chunka, lol. Thought I'd grab some to have on hand as back up at least.

Just on the lanolising you can get spray on lanolin which is easy to use, I got mine from www.theweewuns.com.au. I got the shea and rice flour, it smells good enough to eat and you just spray it on your cover and rub it in.

yeah - queenie told me about this stuff. although the usual way of lanolising doesn't sound too hard I think I'll go with the sprays just cause they sound so delicious smelling, lol.

I can't wait for my Mum to get back from holidays and start knitting me some soakers
