Mods - could this be sticky, if it takes off please?

Several of us have been catching up on odd weekends here in Melbourne. It's made me think that something more formal would be really great. And then I thought that really, it could be national too.

What I'm proposing is that we allocate the second sunday morning of the month for a play in the park with our kids. I've chosen 'second sunday single parent's playgroup' because I'm hoping that will make the date memorable.

I guess down here in Melbourne there would need to be wet weather and stupidly hot alternatives, like an indoor play centre. On the whole though all we need is somewhere central with reasonable facilities, public transport and parking.

Who's up for it and which of you in Brisbane/Sydney/Gold Cast etc wants to take up the challenge?

that's brilliant SPC! somewhere in the city? like the museum? that has the children's area and a garden bit plus it's in the middle of carlton gardens (plus, if there's a baby show on.. :D)

Great idea - and the museum is free and has a cafe. That's two of us then.

I would love too but living out east from the city and having an older child don't think it would be as enjoyable for her as it would for me :(

Prehaps we could look at ones for different regions and age groups too? I would love more single mummy friends with kids DD's age to catch up with on weekends when all my other friends are doing family stuff

Maybe you could bribe her with the shops afterwards? Our babies are really cute! There's a really little one coming. And the museum is educational. Is she old enough to bring a friend and explore the museum by themselves?

I think there are quite a few in the Brissy/Gold Coast area, (I'm vague about geography and think they are near each other??). I've voted Bubmum in charge of organising the QLD branch.

Absolutely! We have several toddlers and a couple of little babies and one pregnant person in attendance, and a couple of people from the south east and you'd be very welcome.

Hi

I am moving to Canberra in mid-January 2012. Is anyone aware of a single parents playgroup in Canberra? Or interested in starting one?

Thanks!

Mods please move post if it's in the wrong spot.

Just wanted to let the single mummies in the northern Gold Coast area know that the Early Years Centre in Billington St Labrador is establising a single mums playgroup on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30. You do need to phone in on 07 5528 9691 to register.
