Hi All,

DS has been a great night sleeper (self settles and all that) but recently he has taken to waking up anywhere between 4.30am and 5am ready to greet the world and play.

I get up at 5am (I am as quite as a mouse) and have been doing so for months now to walk the dog so I dont believe its this as its not a new thing. When DS wakes DH brings him into bed just because 5am is a bit to early to start the day. DS doesnt go back to sleep or anything...just happy to lie there and chat away.

DS is still on two sleeps and goes to bed at 8pm. I even tried one sleep during the day yesterday and he went down at 7pm but woke up at 4.30am this morning.

If I go in to settle him he wont have a bar of it and gets upset when I leave. And if he is left too long is his cot after he wakes he gets upset as he wants out to play.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Will it continue or is it just a phase?

Help!!

Michelle

Hi Michelle

We have just gone through exactly the same with our little man, only he was a bit older (18 months).

He was a perfect sleeper, from 7:30pm till between 6 and 8 am, then he started getting up at 4:30am. I used to take him in with me, then we tried keeping him up till 8:30 or so, but it didn't work. Then one morning he didn't woke till 9am, i think i had to go in and wake him. Since then its back to around 6:30 or 7, and he is in bed by 7:30pm.

Hope its just a phase for you too :)

Hi Shell,

Did this happen for a while, like a couple of weeks or something like that? Because I am hoping that is just a phase as well...its good to know that someone else has experienced the same thing and that they didnt continue wakign up early forever! :)
