we are not officially trying for bub #2 though we have had a couple of slip ups (and have discussed that if we were to get pregnant again now we would be thrilled) so what i was wondering is this... i am still breastfeeding with no sign of af. with my first pregnancey the first sign i had was itchy boobs, but i then waited till i missed a period before testing. anyway, i presume while breastfeeding i wont notice changes there and i obviously wont miss a period.... have other mums been through this... how will i know?? i also had no morning sickness, etc so i imagine i could go along being pregnant and not know till i feel the little one moving?!

Hi

I'm in the same boat as you! Trying to get pregnant while still breastfeeding. I had NO clue i was pregnant the first time around, due to irregular cycles etc etc. It was just when i was walking past the pregnancy tests in the supermarket i thought 'i wonder if i am?" and sure enough, i was!

This time around, taking no chances, especially as you have to book into obs and hospitals so early! Every month I am taking a preg test, i buy a 2test packet, and do a test one day, and if negative, i do the other test 4 or so days later, just to be sure.

Otherwise i'll never know!

Good luck :)

I read somewhere yesterday actually that some babies will become fussy on the breast as the milk can taste different. Salty I think. Not that I have ever tasted breast milk!

Thats all I know sorry.

I heard that too! My little one has been so fussy the last few days that i have a little twinge in my head every time, wondering if i might be pregnant. But the logical side of me is just thinking that he is teething or just being a fuss-bum! I dont' know what I would do with Andrew if he went off the boob if i was pregnant - he won't drink out of a bottle!! Flat out refuses!

Oh well. Might not have to worry about it!

I found Nicole that if I exercised hard while breast feeding, Katie wouldn't touch me for about 2hrs after. Apparently the lactation consultant said that you can get lactic acid in your breast milk after exercising and that causes baby not to feed. I was so surprised. So I expressed before exercise and she took that in a bottle after the gym. I loved breast feeding. No way would I have given it up.

Also when you have your AF's, some babies can detect it in your breast milk too.

I used to hang out with mum's from the breast feeding association when I was on Mat Leave, hence the tidbits of knowledge!
