I have a 7month old who was a great sleeper(finally, after very bad experiences with my now 3yr old)......he went down okay, slept great during the day and night but boy have things changed......

He liked to be wrapped to go to sleep, but lately that isn't working and I've tried without the wrap, left the wrap lose, but still no go, just cries.

I've also tried letting him cry and controlled crying, but it just doesn't work and i hate doing it, because after crying for a while, it takes a lot out of him and i feel so bad.

The only way I've been able to get him to sleep is in my arms, which i hate, because before i could just put him in the cot and in a few minutes he was asleep.

On top of that, once he is asleep, he keeps on waking up now for the dummy if he loses it.....i'm so tired, i get up at least 10 times a night.

Then we have his 5am feed, which i didn't mind because he used to go straight back to sleep, but now he won't and the 5am starts are killing me.

i need help and don't know what to do, i don't understand why all of a sudden he is doing this when he was so good.

Any advice will do................

:hugs: to you, it it so hard when they won't sleep
I'm afraid I can't offer much advice, but I can empathise. My DD did the exact same thing at 7 months.
She went from sleeping till 5.30am, to waking at 11, 1, 3 and 5
Now she is 10 months old and has started to sleep though again, generally only waking once around 3am - which I can handle.
In this 3 months though, she has popped out 8 teeth, grown 2 clothes sizes (now in 0's  ), eats solids most of the time, and is way more active and moving around.
I figure she was going through a major growing and development spurt and needed extra drinks/comfort during the night. Maybe they get growing pains?
I think it is a natural baby phase and it will pass, I hope you have a chance to rest during the day to make up for the horrible nights.

Hi girls

My almost 6 month old is doing exactly the same thing! I have just stopped wrapping him too and it's a nightmare, but he can't be wrapped for ever and now he can roll I am scared he will roll on to his front and not have his hands free to push himself off the bed (and there may be a suffocation risk). He has been getting himself free from his wrap anyway.

The problem is he pulls the dummy out and screams! He can't put it back in so I too have been up at least 10 times a night - it's exhausting! I have tried the ribbon thing, but he can't grasp the concept of grabbing it himself.

He is not on solids yet - maybe it's time to start?

It sounds like Roxi is on the right track with growning pains. It could also be teething. How many teeth so far, any new bumps on the horizon?

Yeah.....i Thought It Might Be Teething But Can't See Any Signs To Indicate That It Is.

I'll Just Have To See It Out And Maybe Put It Down To Growing Pains.
