Meeting Doc for 1st visit

Hi,

My DH and I are going along for an initail visit to the IVF clinic on Wednesday after my DH semen analysis came back with very little hope for a natural conception.

I was wondering what to expect. My husband says we will probably be rejected because we already have one child (concieved pre-chemotherapy). Is this true? Any information you can offer about waiting times, process, whether we will be examined ect would be fantatsic (as you can probably tell I am feeling quite anxious :o ). I hope to join you all soon with trying to concieve.

Good Luck with your IVF Journey!
As far as I am aware... IVF will not knock you back because you already have a child.
Your IVF Doc will speak with you about your options and the costs invloved....
There is usually a counselling session too, but it is just a formality more than anything else....

Hi Bech.

We went through the Wesley in Brisbane. Very good. The reason was that my partners vas reversal didn't work. We went to a specialist, he gave us a referral, got into IVF doctor 6 days later, told him we wanted to do it and didn't need to think about it. Next was couple of blood tests etc, down to the nurses and then onto drugs when my cycle started. This started mid January. Transfer was April. I'm now 17 weeks preg. We were lucky it worked first transfer, so really, it can be as short as 3 months.

I already had 1 child from previous relationship. He had 3. Was not even an issue and we're not formally married either.

Medicare covers some costs as well and as soon as you reach the threshold, the more you can get back.

We did IVF with Warren DeAmbrosis, and we already had one child - it wasn't an issue. We really liked him. He's very down to earth and doesn't sugar coat things(you'll know what I mean when you meet him). We conceived through IVF on the first attempt.
