View Full Version : Braxton Hicks in 2nd pregnancy
Dunno if its just me or are BH in your 2nd pregnancy waaaaay more intense than the first???
i dont remember getting them so bad last time. i'm only 28 weeks and i'm getting them about 4 or 5 times in an hour and even tho they only last for about 10 secs, they are enough to make me stop what i'm doing and just try and breathe.... it is VERY uncomfy at times.
Did anyone else experience this as well??
if not, maybe i should speak to my Ob about it as it kinda worries me. i dont have any health probs and i certainly dont want bubs to come early!!!
TIA!

I didn't with my second, vbut there was a 10yr gap between those thwo pregnancies.
I'm preg with my third and boy oh boy the braxtons are coming earlier, harder, and very predictable (as in, they come on every time I DTD, or otherwise exert myself).
Our Midwife isn't concerned, and said it was normal.

I had one or 2 nights towards the end where I experienced some prelabour that was fun!
But yeah I think it is different for everyone :) having a bath usually slowed things down for me and eased the aching pains, just make sure you can get out alone or have help around ;)

first pregnancy i didn't notice them unless i touched my belly and noticed it was hard
this time same up till about 36 weeks then i started to feel a bit of discomfort and i could tell without touching.
next time (if i go there) they will probably be much worse

I am finding that they are much more noticeable second time around. With DS I only ever got tightening and it was never uncomfortable and not very regular, but this time they are much more noticeable and regular. But in saying that I know what I am expecting this time so I am noticing things more anyway iykwim.
Thanks for your replies guys.
ANonnyMouse - what is the difference between your 2nd and 3rd pregnancies? when DD2 is born, DD1 will be 19.5 months old. also, excuse my ignorance - what's DTD?
and Theophania - i dont think its just cos i'm noticing it more cos i know what to expect. these badboys are... well,... bad! VERY uncomfy...

This is my fifth pregnancy (sixth baby) and this is the only one i have ever had BH with.
Shocked me a bit this time around as i have never had them before but i have been getting them off and on since about 24w. The past 2 nights have been constant painful BH in the late afternoon and right upto to the early hours of the morning then they stop and i'm 36w5d.
