Hi

I am currently living in Brisbane, Australia. My hubby has been offered a lifetime opportunity academic job in uk (for the period of 1.5 years) which he's keen to attend. But we r facing a dilemma of whether we all should relocate to uk for a period of 18 months or should he go alone; although he doesn't want to leave us here n go alone by himself.
The doubts in our mind are:
Firstly, My DD1 is 6 years old and in grade 1. My hubby willl be leaving in july and i probably will in aug end, because the school in surrey starts in sept and i thought if she attends school until aug end...then probably she won't have to repeat grade 1 and can commence in grade 2 from sept onwards....though we have to work out these details with the respective schools as well. is that a wise decision?
Secondly should we take all household furniture with us or just the essentials. Can anyone recommend good shipment companies?
How is the weather in surrey thoughout the year?
Can anyone help please??????

Hello

I have just seen your post and was wondering if you had made a decision to go yet? Whereabouts in Surrey are you looking to live? Surrey is a very large county but it is lovely and not that far from London at all. The weather is pretty much the same as London weather but you will get more space like a bigger garden and there are lots of lovely farms and outdoor type things to do with kids.

Hi there!

Surrey is meant to be a lovely place to live - I have friends who live there and its quite nice, and one of the more upmarket places to live in England.

We were living in Melbourne and are moving to the UK in December. We are currently doing a three month stint in Singapore, so we decided to sell all our furniture and ship over less bulkier items like clothes, books, etc.. As far as I know, its common to find rentals and accomodation already furnished, so you might find it better to put stuff in storage in Australia.

I'm not too sure about schooling, to be honest, but as far as I know, my niece is 10 (born in January) and is in grade 5. She will be in grade six this september.

Hope that helps!
