Hi Friends,

My little darling has had a bad flare up in her eczema :crying: .
Is it possible it could be associated with teething?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Normally I would say teething and eczema are not connected but Ozzy is teething and his eczema is chronic at the moment. So yes I dare say that teething and flare ups can be related!

My sons allergie specialist said that teething is a cause for an eczema flare up .
No wonder he constanly has it...Arrgg

I'd agree that teething can cause an eczema flare-up.
Although bub isn't directly "allergic" to teething, eczema seems to worsen when bub is run-down or unwell. Teething can cause bub to be unsettled, sleep poorly and become run-down. Also excess dribble on cheeks, chin and neck etc can irratate eczema.
So although its probably not "medically" related, in my experience with DS it certainly worsened during teething and/or illness.
My DS suffers eczema mainly due to food allergy and environmental intolerance. But he has just about grown-out of it, now that he's nearly three-years-old. We worked closely with his allergy specialist (paed) and "weaned" him onto the different things that caused it and he rarely has flare-ups now. *sigh of relief*
So :fingerscrossed: there's an end in sight for you too! :hugs:

:D ohhh i didnt know that. My son had a little eczema and it has gone away due to being bathed in Pintarsol every day. And he seems to be teething and I have noticed his skin drying out which is usually the start of his eczema. So it must be the teething
