Hey all,

I was laying in bed in an awkward position and DP made me laugh, and all of a sudden I got this sharp stabbing pain. When I felt where it hurt (it was gone almost instantly) it's right near my hipbone is...

It's gone totally now, and bub has moved (albeit not alot, but it was only ten mins ago) since it happened... I've also once gone to hosp with bad ligament pains, does this sound like stretching the ligament there too quickly? Does it sound normal?

Thanks :) I'm not TOO worried, just realllly don't want to go to the hosp or miss work.

That used to happen to me a lot. If I moved a certain way or coughed. I never had any problems during my pregnancy so I assumed it was normal.
If it didn't go away I'd suggest hospital but if it was just a one off then I wouldn't be concerned. Just mention it at your next check up.

I used to have the same sort of pain on my right hand side, mind you I gave birth 5 weeks early.

Maybe keep an eye on it and if it gets worse have it checked out. :)

It's sort hard to disseminate what's "normal" pain and what pain you should worry about.

Good luck.

I'm only 14 weeks and I get this too. If I cough, sneeze or move a certain way I get a stabbing pain on either side near the pelvic bone (I assume it's the uterus wall??). I also can't jog anymore, it causes the same pain. I just assumed it was normal but maybe I should ask my OB about it!!

It's just a ligament, it really, really hurts but it's not harmful. I get it worse with each pregnancy, this one it started at 4 weeks. It happens if I get up too quickly or sideways or if I laugh or cough.

I was just about to start a thread about this! I'm only 12 weeks and these stabby pains have just started in the last couple of days. I get them if I move too quickly, cough, sneeze or bend over/otherwise pull on my tummy. I was just going to mention them to my doctor at my next appointment, but if it's normal then that's a huge weight off my mind!

I've been getting them all along, the worst is when I'm lying down and I cough or sneeze. I have adhesions from endometriosis so I've had very similar pains even before getting pregnant. I'd say it's just ligaments stretching/pulling and getting bumped with things moving around in there.

Yay! At least it's normal. I thought it would be... And bubba's been rolling around all day, so I'm not worried :) Hopefully it keeps to a minimum. I've only had it once or twice, but last night it was bad enough to make me jump off the bed and crouch down and almost start crying :(

I had this all through pregnancy the only thing i found to help was when i was laying down and i was going to cough or sneeze id slowly bring my knees up toward my chest before doing so. If I was standing id crouch down lol you look like a total idiot but it does help a bit.
I still get the pains now and my sons nearly 2 :(

That happened to me and I went to hospital about it :o It was just a ligament though (i'm guessing - the doctor's weren't really sure ). It was all good anyway.

I thought it might've been :) I get round ligament pain, just never in such a singly located spot. :) Thanks :D (P.S. It is a giant pain isn't it... Oh the things we go through - and the boys think we have it easy!)
