Just a question I wanted to put forward to all those mummy's who are having, or have had multiples (twins or more)...

1) How long did it take to get your BFP?
2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)?
3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness?
4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out?
5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy?
6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc?
7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time?

Just curious to know. Thought it would be of interest to those who suspect they are having twins.

1) How long did it take to get your BFP? CD 31 out of usual 28

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? None, I did have a slight bleed in my first single pregnancy though.

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? I *thought* I was 6weeks 3days, but when I went for a scan 10days later, it showed I was 6w 4d, so the MS probably actually kicked in around 5weeks. Also probably explained why the BFP was so late - I think I ovulated later than I thought so my BPF was earlier than I thought - if that makes sense! lol.

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? I was soooo sick that I joked about being pregnant with twins, it was the only way I thought I could get through it if there was something amazng lke 2 babies.

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? For the first few weeks, nothing. then hyperemesis kicked in. I was on 24mg of zofran for a few weeks, then 16mg per day. I was super tired too, could hardly keep my eyes open, but I also had a 19month old and 2.5year old.

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? Early on - no. Lots of braxton hicks from 18weeks, which were becoming effective at 32weeks when labour started.

7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? Yes, DS1 was about 18months when I fell pregnant and having 1-3feeds per day, very rarely one at night.

) How long did it take to get your BFP? First cycle off the pill. I got my BFP when I was 3 weeks, 2 days pregnant. It was very faint , but there!
2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? No. Not bleeding at all.
3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness?
My husband and I were on our honeymoon and I felt unwell for like 3 days. Thought I may of picked up Gastro. Turns out I was pregnant. But I was very lucky, only had MS for a few weeks.
4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? Yeah I had an inkling! Was told by a clairvoyant in September I would have twins. Didn't think it would actually happen though!!
5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy?
Boobs seemed to get huge over night!! Head spins, slight nausea, extreme tiredness.
6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? No hot flushes but did have sore ovaries for a few weeks.
7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time?
No I wasn't.

Yay! 100 posts! Feel so special now . Wow! I'm not into the whole clairvoyant thing (each unto their own though) - but I totally believe in the spiritual realm so that's a bit of a spin out. I don't dream very often, but when I do they often eventuate - some years down the track. At the end of February I had a dream that I was in the hallway of a house and my husband came from the left hand side - he was wearing his work uniform - and then I saw in front of me two dark lines on a First Response pregnancy test (not one of the strip ones) and that was the end of the dream. Haven't been able to shake it - it was so real. I know it could be a representation of what's in my subconscious, but it sits there in the back of my mind....

) How long did it take to get your BFP? CD 28 out of a usual 28 day cycle.

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? Yes, several bleeds esp in the first trimester. I ended up going to the hosp emergency at 5.5 weeks and was examined by 2 dr's who told me I was miscarrying. They did an ultrasound (which showed a sac and yolk) and took bloods the next day, and they came back with a high HCG (I was never told exactly what.) A week or so later I had a registrar call and say my HCG was too high to only have a sac and yolk showing and that there was something wrong. I had to go in for more bloods, which were lost and I never got the results of. At 10.5 weeks, after bleeding on and off I went in for my first scheduled ultrasound and was floored when the lady found twins.

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? From about 3 weeks onwards. All day and night sickness, and extremely tired.

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? Nope. If I hadn't of been lying down when I found out I would have fallen over from shock.

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? Darkened areola, a "feeling" that I was pregnant (causing me to test), tiredness, sickness/nausea, hightened sense of smell, aversion to favourite (or MOST) foods.

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? Definitely had cramping that was a lot like period pain

7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time?
No :)

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? Didnt have a any bleeds at all.

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? I was incredibly lucky and didnt get morning sickness at all.

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? Not at all, I couldnt even believe I was pregnant, much less with twins!

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? Sore boobs in the first trimester, and tiredness.

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? I only had braxton hicks once, for a few hours!

1. How long did it take to get your BFP? Mine were IVF so different there. BT 2 weeks after embryo transfer. (Knew levels were high but they didn't tell us they were THAT high)

2. Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? Yes, had bleeding at 7 weeks which we were scared was a miscarriage. Had ultrasound a couple of days later.

3. How early on did you get morning sickness/ if you did get morning sickness? From 3 weeks, and all day and night sickness for me as well.

4. Did any of you have 'a feeling' it was twins before you found out? Yes, from 3 weeks when I started getting morning sickness I also just knew I was definately finally pregnant and I also had a feeling it might be twins. In fact when I walked into the fertility clinic I told the nurses I thought I was pregnant with twins.

5. What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? Apart from bad morning sickness and tiredness just the fact that I needed maternity pants at only 11 weeks. I was huge! Unfortunately I developed a huge DVT at 9 weeks and spent most of my early weeks really struggling with the pain. I had to go maternity pants shopping with a bowl and on crutches.

6. Did any of you get hot flushes/cramping etc? Nope, nothing. Just some braxton hicks and what felt like gymnastics from my girls from around 30 weeks.

7. Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? No

1) How long did it take to get your BFP? About 11dpo with First Response, same as other single babies

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? I had a big bleed at 14 weeks, then it spotting for the next 4 weeks, then nothing more - no medical explanation given as to why

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? started at 5 weeks, still going at 34, quite severe

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? only the day before my first OB appointment at 7 weeks as I was already showing

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? hyperemesis, extreme exhaustion, never got to have a nice 2nd trimester as always felt so sick & heavy. Breasts became huge really quickly, although they've shrunk right down now as I still cant keep much down and am only carrying baby weight

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? No cramping but have felt about 4 degrees hotter than everyone else from about 12 weeks. Have had Braxton Hicks from 20 weeks (although its my 5th 'children' and it happens earlier each time), now they're pre-labour pains and playing havoc with my mind, sanity and sleep!

7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? No

Oh bgbgbb, I do hope you get some relief from the hyperemisis - but if you are anything like me, you actually start to worry when you don't get it. It's almost bearable because you know what it's for and it's almost good - except when you're actually throwing up. On the positive side - at least the bubs are healthy and are doing well and I guess you won't have any weight to lose afterwards - what a plus (well, kinda). All the best hey. Thanks.

1) How long did it take to get your BFP?
10 DPO so cd 27 for me. It was very faint and i did about 10 tests in the following days.

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)?
No
3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness?
I had no morning sickness at all and no fatigue, very lucky I know.4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out?
No. I was on clomid and being monitored each cycle except the one i fell pregnant as the FS offfice was closed over the new year. We found out at 6.5 week scan and are still getting used to it. We knew the risk of multiples with clomid as more than 1 follicle can mature and release but as it turns out only 1 egg released and split we have identical twins on board so i guess i was just destined for twins.

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy?
No symptoms early on at all except very thirsty, i dont usually get thirst but it was noticble and i am still am now. Later my boobs got bigger and bigger and still getting bigger
6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? Nope, nothing
7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? no

) How long did it take to get your BFP? First cycle of IVF and we hit the jackpot!! Had been trying for about 18months before resorting to IVF, we feel so blessed and lucky. Woudlnt change it for the world. Never thought I would of got my BFP first go though, I only had sore boobies. I did so many HPT's....still have 15 in my cupboard in the bathroom..quite tragic I know!

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? Early on 8 weeks and also 10 weeks.

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? 8 weeks exactly, through to 20 weeks.

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? No. Only transferred 1 Embryo so we assumed it would be a singleton if we were pregnant...was a little shocked but thrilled...DH was so excited!

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? Awful morning sickness to 20 weeks, but other than that all I wanted was salty hot chips and KFC Gravy!!

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? Just the cramping, early on though, around 8 weeks?
7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? No

Thanks Jessicana :) - had to giggle when I read the bit about doing the HPT's over and over again - but how lucky were you - no morning sickness/tiredness - maybe you're superwoman :detective:. So cool though - congrats on your successful egg split.

Thanks too Sparklesare!! :) 15 spares - wow! Save them for next time ;) Oh my goodness, when I fell pregnant with DS I had the same cravings at the beginning - hot chips and gravy - couldn't get enough of it. Really craved twisties and coke too and I'm not a coke or a coffee girl. Too funny. Good thing the morning sickness has stopped. All the best hey.

Hey Becca,

Your right, weird and wonderful cravings, and have to admit, still loving the hot chips but the gravy I can seriously not look at ever again.

And Banana Big M's...weird as I HATE bananas as the fruit, but the taste of it in milk is the best!!! There is not enough banana big m's in this world!:D

Dont know about the rest of the frosty eggies...think they can chill :chillpill: in the freezer for a while yet!

Good luck with the FS Becca. Its a hard road if you need to go down that path, but there are many wonderful women on here who have been through it and can share stories, ups, downs, and ride the wave of it all with you.

Have the confidence in your FS that you will find an outcome.

Ironically I was an egg donor back in 2006 and donated over 20 eggs, and yet when I went to start my own family had trouble! It was like my body just temporarily shut down and didnt want to "play" anymore. I started on the Clomid path which is the easier of the options both financially and to some degree emotionally! Then went to IUI's and then to full blown IVF so as to monitor me closely as I was over stimulating. My very first full blow IVF cycle, I hit the jackpot...I have so much to be grateful for with two inside. Dont be scared of it is all I am trying to say, and good luck. Keep us posted. :hugs:

Thanks Sparklesare. We've been down the FS path before and after 3 years of trying many different things we conceived a beautiful little boy 'all by ourselves' ironically just after we started the IVF process before the first procedure - how would you be?? Funny how our bodies have a mind of their own so it seems. Thank you so much for your kind words though. Must be AF because I nearly cried when I read your post. That...and just remembering the frustration and disappointment and the hurt and...again the disappointment...that came with infertility problems. I have been decreeing a positive experience this time and so badly want everything 'to work out'. We would dearly love to grow our family. I know I am truly blessed to have one gorgeous little man. Will keep you all posted. Take care,

Hi all:wave:

Well, it's been a month or so since my last post and AF came to absolutely ruin everything. Have since established by charting that I have a 21day LP - so that whole 'you can assume you're pregnant if your temperatures stays elevated for 18 days' thing is a load of...well...you know....

Anyway, I realize that there's confusion surrounding the whole idea of implantation and BBT's in terms of temperatures being representative of surges in progesterone and estrogen - but did any of you mummy's of multiples chart your bbt's? and if so, were there 2 implantation dips? Reason I ask is because I have been charting and I've had 3 dips-lack of sleep and illness can be attributed to the second one-but just after both dips (when the temperature went up again) I had spotting in the mornings.

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be muchly appreciated.

Regards,

How long did it take to get your BFP? Techically for probably 13yrs but we just assumed it was my endo that stopped us becoming UTD ..boy were we wrong turned out that DH was born unable to have his own kiddies so we did IVF but only started that road once we were ready to be parents..i think DH still doesnt think he's ready :D

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? I had two bleeds or rather discharges of brown not red colour two months apart start after finding out we were UTD i worked out that it was around the time that i would have been normally ovulating

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? I had all day nausea from the get go but i :barf:at nights from about week 12 to week 16 and nothing since

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? Pregnant yes twins noooooo as we did IVF i knew when they put the egg back etc but i was really out of breath and thought that was strange and i thought to myself i give myself one day after AF is due then i'm testing i did the test a work and nearly fell over but had to wait the Monday for the offical test so i kept that little secret to myself incase i was wrong i didnt want to upset DH i found out it was twins at the 6week scan and only having 1 egg put back and only 1 egg left to actually put back i wasnt expecting twins at all i burst into tears and when i called DH he thought i was pranking him and hung the phone up on me

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? Nausea, being out of breath mainly

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? Just the cramping hasn't really stopped its on and off now but i'm told the girls have their feet in my cervix so that is causing a lot of pain

7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? No

Hi All:wave:

Well, didn't make it to the FS....but I did get my :bfp:. This cycle was sooooo different to any other I've ever had. I had two days - about a week apart where my temperature dipped and the day following I got blood streaked CM. Also...going by what I recorded I vomited in the evening for a few days following the dips and then about a week ago I too thought I was going to have to go to emergency because I was THAT SICK that if I moved even an inch my head would spin (like I had been drinking wine or like I had seriously bad vertigo) and that would be enough to make me vomit until I dry-reached. If I stand up or sit up after lying down I feel so incredibly dizzy and light-headed. Sorry :ecomcity::ecomcity::ecomcity: *I'm still floating*

Still keen to know if any twin mummies out there charted around the time of their conception....

1) How long did it take to get your BFP? first month trying for #4. I got a BFP (extremely faint) on CD29 - 8DPO
2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)? not as yet, fingers crossed it continues that way!
3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness? started feeling nauseous around the same time as I got my BFP
4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out? I dreamt that we had twins three days before our scan and our son told me the day before the scan that there were two babies in my tummy
5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy? extreme tiredness and nausea, only thrown up a few times though (touch wood!)
6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc? slight AF like cramps. most just a really heavy full feeling like AF is about to arrive
7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time? yes! Still breastfeeding DD2 who is now 21 months old. She generally feeds morning and night and sometimes numerous times throughout the day

Oh wow! Congratulations - so obviously you just found out - that's fantastic news. I've had this 'feeling' that I'm having twins and saturday night I dreamt that one side of my tummy was bigger than the other side and when I asked my DH why in my dream he just laughed and said because you're having twins...so vivid...and I couldn't help myself this month...before I even got my BFP I got out books on multiple pregnancies because I just felt that I had to read them. Logic was saying - that's just stupid - you're not even pregnant - let alone pregnant with twins - but I picked them up and read them all. Will be interesting to see what happens at our first scan. Whatever the outcome I will be happy...but interesting to see whether it's a mother's intuition or just a dream.

Got the results of my first blood test today. Worked out that yesterday I would have been either 15dpo or 18dpo (as my cycles -as few as I've had since BF'ing and having DS over 18months ago were averaging 32-35days) and my HCG level was 1200. So at least I know it's a healthy one. Too early to tell if it's twinnies :goodvibes: - but won't know for sure for another 2 weeks - first scan is organised for the 1 July. At least by then I should be able to see a heart (or two) beating. Very excited!!!

I only carried one twin to term, but will answer anyways :)
1) How long did it take to get your BFP?
we weren't trying (had TTC for 10years, but stopped actively trying that year) and I had my bfp at around 6weeks

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)?
I had a number of bleeds, from 10weeks to 34 weeks. one bleed was losing a twin (and nearly lost DD too) the others were due to problems with my placentas.
3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness?
from around week 5 to week 25 (lucky me) had hyperemesis for part of that time.
4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out?
my sister has twins so it wasn't a huge shock, but I didn't suspect until my first scan when they said 'theres TWO placentas...'
5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy?
I was extremely tired and ill, my breasts went up 2cup sizes and were sore. I had a number of food/smell aversions very early on.
6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc?
I was BOILING most of the time, and still am! (5weeks pp) I had bad braxton hicks, threatened pre term labour and bad cramps (but my abdominal muscles tore, so that's part of it)
7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time?
nope, this is our first child.

Congratulations on the birth of your little bubby trishalishous:D! What a little fighter/survivor. I am terribly sorry for your loss though. :( Such a hard thing for anyone to have to deal with. Thanks for the taking the time to answer these questions. I hope you enjoy every part of motherhood (including the lack of sleep) and that you heal quickly and that bubby lets you rest some. What a little miracle you have there.. Congratulations again.

thanks Becca.
she is a little fighter, and doing so well (5weeks old)
I'm high risk of twins again, so will be a bit more aware of falling preg, and will take it easy for the 1st trimester next time. the stress I was under last time won't happen again, thank god we are out of that situation.

1) How long did it take to get your BFP?

13 DPO, I tested at 11 and it was a BFN

2) Did you bleed at any time during your pregnancy (could it have been mistaken for AF)?

I had bleeding at weeks 7 and 8. It was light pink and a once off both times. I then had big bleeds at weeks 29 and 33 where I was hospitalised. Neither could of been mistaken as AF

3) How early on did you get morning sickness/if you did get morning sickness?

I got it from about 7 weeks until 12 weeks. It was constant nausea and the occasionally sickness. Not too bad luckily. The tiredness in the first trimester was far far worse

4) Did any of you 'have a feeling' it was twins before you found out?

Nope no inkling at all. We have twins in the family and my cousin has triplets but it never crossed my mind. I actually thought I was miscarrying

5) What were some of the symptoms you experienced early on in pregnancy/during pregnancy?

Extreme tiredness. It was so bad I would get home from work and be asleep by 4/5pm and then not wake up until the next morning. Nausea and felt weak if I didnt eat. My pants didnt fit from 8 weeks

6) Did any of you get hot flushes or cramping, etc?

Cramping in the first few weeks which is pretty normal. Major Braxton Hicks from early on

7) Were any of you breastfeeding at the time?

Nope

Well, we have a beautiful little becca-bub in the oven and bubby looks just perfect!:D The sonographer was very thorough and is 'pretty sure' there's only one bub in there (had a lot of trouble though because she said my bladder wasn't very full - I had definitely drunk the amount they told me too because I felt like throwing up my stomach was so full).

Bubba is 6wks 3 days old according to the scan which means I was only 4 wks 1 day when I had my initial blood test and I had a HCG level of 1200 then. Still trying to shake that feeling that there are two - but I guess maybe it was hope that made me feel that way and not intuition. Thanks to all the lovely ladies who replied to this thread and Sheer Bliss thank you so very much for your encouragement.
