How many mls do u use? DD is on 7 mls but it seems like a lot of liquid to give in one dose???

My dd is on 2.5 mls once a day which was prescribed at 3 weeks. I need to take her back to doc as she is 10 weeks now so I think she should be on more.

How old is your DD?

Just wanted to let you know the compounds can become unstable after a week or two.

DD is 4 months. She doesn't like the liquid  so giving her 7mls is hard. I'm wondering whether the tablets might be easier.

Yeah they give me 8 days supply, then I go get more made up.

we find the tablets easy, and a whole lot cheaper!

just snap in half with your fingers, pop on a spoon, pop some warm water over it, will take 30 seconds to a minute to dissolve, then tip in their mouth.

ds now expects it ad opens his mouth

Hi ,
My 15wk DS is on 4ml. He has 2ml in a.m. and 2ml in p.m. We used to give it to him straight in his mouth via syringe, but he kept spitting it out. So now i add it to his bottles ( i just make a small 50ml bottle so i know he gets it all, and then i give him another bottle as per normal but just 50ml less).
Works a treat!!
The suspension can only be added to milk/(formula), water or certain juices (nothing carbonated etc (not that you would at this age!)
GOOD LUCK

Hello Again
My pharmacist gives me a suspension that lasts 30days (it's got to do with how it is made and from what, apparently). It costs me approx. $24.
Maybe see if your pharmacist can do the same???

7mls does sound like a lot for a 4mth old but that being said if it's severe enough then it can be necessary iywkim.

It could also be a larger dosage in mls because they are making it up with only a small amount of Losec if that makes sense !

Ours was made up at one point so that G was recieving 2ml x 3 times a day but getting 10mg every 2ml ... Does that make sense ... So if your chemist is making it so that every ml is only 1mg or 5mg then that could be why .... But rather annoying trying to get 7mls into bubs especially at once ! It is also better to split it up so it has a flow on effect.

We now use tablets as my DS2 can tolerate them now whereas he couldn't before & it does make life easier using them & not worrying about running out or it going 'off'.

Thanks Sarsjovi! I went back to the chemist & they made up another dose so I only had to give 3.5 mls. I'm having a bit of trouble still giving DD - maybe I can try it in some milk. Do u find the granules get stuck in the bottle or teat?

Yep that's what they were doing :gloomy: just a larger quantity of liquid (7mls) to make my life harder. I went back and they made up another dose so I only have to give 3.5 mls. But you are on the same dosage as me (10mg) so I wonder why they didn't just make up a batch where I could give 2ml - that would be even better!

I couldn't believe they charged $11 for a weeks supply. Is that approximate to what everyne is charged?

No, there doesn't seem to be any granules in my liquid.

I used to pay $50 every 3wks for ours ... But it was the only place nearby that would do compounding sadly !

If you can get it cheaper go for it !
