I went to chemist warehouse yesterday and spoke to the pharmacist about thrush. I specifically told him I was pregnant and wanted to know if it was ok to take those once only tablets for thrush. He said yes and sold me Diflucan One.
I was going to take it today and it says on the packet "not suitable for pregnancy or breast feeding"
Not happy Jan!
Does anyone know if this is true? I am going to ring the chemist now to explain what has happened, because if I can't take it I want my money refunded!!!
My doctor said not to take it. You are better off to use canesten pessaries (without the applicator) I would definatley be asking for a refund!! I can't believe it was a pharmacist who said it was ok, he should have known better :shame:

I second that!!!
I went to buy some and the Pharmacist told me it wasn't safe when breastfeeding, because there isn't enough evidence, being a relatively new drug. I got canestan cream instead, and it worked fine :o

I rang the chemist and spoke to a different pharmacist. He told me that it is ok to take just one (as per the board of pharmacists association or something) but not ok to take them regularly or as a course of treatment. I am still unsure so I will check with my doctor tomorrow.

good idea. my dr told me i couldnt hav it when i had thrush during preg. but i dont know if that is because there is not much evidence of possible sideaffects or because i seem to hav become hyper sensitive to the main ingredient in all the treatments (creams and pessaries) . (i ended up having to take inner health balance tablets & use natural yoghurt...very messy. so it would b best to hang on till u can speakm to dr.
good luck i know its an awful thing to hav.
