Okay... we have decided to use disposables until the baby grows out of them (we have 1 box of huggies neborn nappies, a pack of huggies newborn nappies and another pack of the baby love nappies) once they are all used up, it'll be cloth for us

So... what do u do... from the time you change the dirty cloth nappy, up until the time the clean nappy gets put on...

What soaker do u use, how long to wash them, how do u wash them etc etc etc.

Just tell me everything you know lol :D

I use fuzzi bunz at the moment so the care instructions are a little bit different (I think for most brands you use half the normal amount of washing powder but I've never done that with fuzzi bunz, it's not on their care sheet..just the normal amount of powder)

So if DD has a dirty nappy, I take the dirty nappy off, pull the insert out (these are pockets, so they just require the nappy and the hemp inserts, no covers) and put it in a dry pail next to the change table (no solid poos to knock off into the toilet yet!). Then after I've wiped her, I put a clean nappy on her (already with insert in, ready to go).

Then every second night, after DD has gone to bed I put them through the wash. I put them on a pre-wash cycle so they get rinsed first. It is recommended you put that through cold and then wash in hot but I don't have that option on my washing machine so the whole lot goes through at 40 degrees C. I have never had a problem with it. When DD wakes for her middle of the night feed, I put the dryer on (we have a washing machine/dryer in one) and they are dry by morning.
I take 10 minutes to put the inserts back in the nappies and to fold up the wipes (cheap face washers) and we're ready for another 2 days!

On the odd occassion tha an insert is still stained (the nappie's never stain) I don't worry about it, just re-use the nappy (it's only a stain after all) and it comes out next wash.

I spent just about hours on Bubhub going through all the posts on cloth nappies.
There are heaps of threads on cloth, tonnes of info and some great links- these Bubhubbers are a clever bunch- so go through and check it out.
Then from the info I went out and bought a few different types and brands of nappies. We're still experimenting, but am now starting to work out what works and what doesn't without spending a fortune.
Good luck with it all

I think the first thing you will need to decide is what sort of cloth? Regualr Terry flats or modern cloth? You use them differently. Have a look in the nappy threads to get info about both.

Personally I love green kids pocket nappies.
