Hi to you all,
I was just wondering if coffee really does make a difference in trying to conceive??

Have any of you drank coffee and still conceived?

When I had my two girls I wasnt into my coffee, but now I enjoy my coffee and I really dont think I could give up completely, Im only having one a day at the moment, and maybe 2 if Im out and about.

I think it really only makes a difference if you drink heaps. I went off caffiene when TTC and until 12 weeks PG just to be safe but I'm pretty sure it's fine. If you're having trouble concieving then maybe try going off it.

I conceived whilst drinking coffee and redbull regularly.
Obviously I stopped when I found out I was pregnant at about 3 weeks.

This maybe different for others, but I didn't think about it. I went off the pill and just went on like normal. And within a couple of months we found out I was pregnant. (This was after being on the pill for 15 years)

So whilst I wouldn't condone drinking loads of red bull or similar, I think you can have anything in moderation whilst trying.
Good luck on TTC!!

If you're only having one or two a day, I wouldn't bother giving up while TTC. If it starts taking you a few months, I guess you can reassess whether you're prepared to give it up further down the track.

Good luck!

When health practitioners talk about avoiding coffee when TTC and in pregnancy, they are referring to quite large amounts. So a few cups a day is definitely nothing to be concerned about. I was drinking three cups a day when I fell pregnant both times (and I fell pregnant first cycle each time). :)

Guilty! I am addicted to iced coffees and had one on the go from 9 til 4 every day so somewhere between 3-4 a day!!!!

I fell pregnant on my third cycle of TCC and limit my intake to one a day, three days a week.

I gave up drinking and smoking to make a family :yelclap:, and did seriously consider giving up coffee, but DP wanted me to keep one of my vices (so he can have the occasional beer with out the guilt I presume!! lol )

I don't drink alcohol, very rarely fizzy drinks, don't do red bull or similar and don't drink coffee and it still took me 18 months to conceive both times and I am reasonably healthy.

I gave up soft drink and energy drink a year before I fell pregnant. I still had the occasional tea or coffee and concieved first go.

I got pregnant whilst practically living on coffee, chocolate and stress. I gave up coffee cold turkey when I suspected I was pregnant at about 3 weeks. That was a very long ttc history and some of those years were caffeine free.

I got pregnant with my DD first time trying, actually only had sex once  and at the time I ran a cafe and drank maybe 5 cups of espresso a day, sometimes more.:o

Now I only drink about 2 cups a day and haven't been able to get pregnant when I tried for 5 months.

I'm in a different boat because my pregnancies have been achieved via IVF, but prior to my last transfer in February I asked my specialist if I should give up my one cup of coffee a day and she told me that the stress created on my body from craving a coffee would be more harmful to my chances of falling pregnant than my one cup of coffee per day would be....so I kept drinking my one cup of coffee. Within 2 weeks of getting my BFP the smell or even thought of drinking a coffee makes me want to puke. The same thing happened when I was pregnant with my DD. I didnt feel like a coffee until she was about 3 weeks old, and then my one a day habit pretty much kicked back in.

I saw my obstetrician recently and she told me that it is safe to drink a couple of cups of coffee a day if I wanted to.

Good luck.

I was a big coffee drinker before i fell pregnant & we concieved staright away with no calculating etc. The funny thing is that about a month before i found out that i was (about 6 weeks at the time) i just suddenly went off my coffee and even tea...i think maybe it was my bodies way of saying no more of that stuff.. there's a bub in here! .. a few weeks left to go now and ive only just begun to crave it again.

from my research its more importsanjt to limit/give up caffeine AFTER you get pregnant as it triples the risk of miscarriage.

I gave up coffee when i fell pregnant with DD1, then didnt take it back up cos i was BF'ing, then i fell pregnant again, and will be BF'ing this bubba too, so its been more than 2.5 yeaars since my last cup, and wont be hapening anythime soon if i BF this bub till he is 2 or 3.

Ahhhhhh coffee.....i practically salivate at the smell! :D

Yes even the thought of giving up my coffee completely would stress me out, so glad to hear that:yelclap:

Well, now I can tell my caring sister to stop worrying and just enjoy drinking a cuppa with me, thats great!!!
I came off the pill in Oct09 and my periods are all ova the place, I know it will happen when its meant to I guess, I just thought I dont want anything to get in my way of conceiving and after reading these posts Im pretty sure now that having my 1cup maybe2 of coffee a day wont stop me from conceiving:D

Cheers:thumbsup::thumbsup: to you all and thanks for sharing each of your experiences;)
