View Full Version : Was your intuition right?

Hi there everyone,

This may be a well-worn topic but I'm really interested in knowing how many of you had accurate/inaccurate predictions about your baby's gender?
It's only early days but I'm absolutely OBSESSED with the sex of my little fetus. I've used the Chinese calendar (most say Girl, but another tells me it'll be a Boy), and I'm now searching the house for some thread to tie around a ring to hold over my belly. I know there are far more important things I should be thinking about (I've been even more obsessed with baby names until recently, and hubby's super relieved I've stopped the naming-game at long last. . . ) but right now it's my number one priority in life.
I don't know if it's cool to say or not but I'm hoping for a boy, but 'women's intuition' tells me it's a girl.
How accurate has your 'intuition' been?

First time, totally inaccurate lol I honestly thought i'd be one of those women who had all boys and would struggle to have a girl! I have 2 girls and I was probably 99.9% sure that DD1 was going to be a boy, I was gobsmacked when I found out she was a girl!
DD2 I just knew she was a girl by about the 12 week mark, I was abit fooled before then as I was alot sicker with her than with my first. When we had the 18 week ultrasound I knew before the sonographer told me that she was indeed a girl!

None of the gender predictions would work for me, chinese calendar was incorrect for DD1 but correct for DD2, the ring was correct for DD1 but not DD2, and those pregnancy quizzes were correct for DD1 but incorrect for DD2, I really think there is no real way to tell... actually no now that I remember there was 1 thing that was correct and that was heartbeat. Both girls had a heartbeat of roughly 170bpm at 12 weeks and roughly 150-155bpm around 18-20 weeks up untill the end.

I will be interested to see whether the heartbeat thing works for me next time :)

I had a gut feeling DS was a boy, I was right.

I had a gut feeling this bub was a girl, I was right.

So far my intuition has been right

Wrong all three times. My intuition is excellent at other times...it just seems I have none when it comes to predicting the sex of my kids!

I knew from the moment I found out I was pregnant that I was having a girl, just because I wanted a boy lol. I wouldn't change my DD for the world now and actually want this next one to be a girl too, but I once again have a feeling and this time I think its a boy so we will see in about 12 weeks if I am right this time lol. Either way I will be stocked with a pigeon pair or 2 DDs

Absolutely the same here (except I'm not pregnant with #3...yet).

With DS2 I often thought he was a girl, but I honestly think that in retrospect, that was just wishful thinking. But I definitely didn't have that super-strong, intuitive feeling I had with DS1. I never for a moment felt he was a girl, and I was spot on there.

I knew from the start that Keiara was a girl and she was.

I knew from the start that this little bub was a boy and the ultrasound has said it is a boy.

I just had the strongest feeling both times

In hindsight I really did know with all of them. Boy, Boy, Girl, Boy. This time I don't know. I really want it to be a girl so one minute I am sure it is but the next I am totally convinced it is a boy, I think as a protective thing. I dunno.

I wanted a girl but for some reason I just knew I was having a boy. I was so sure I was having a boy that I forgot to even ask the sex until half way through the ultrasound. Sure enough, it was a boy. :D

I thought I was having a girl, dreamt girl twice. Despite this I found myself being drawn to boys clothes when shopping. I had a boy.

I'm now searching the house for some thread to tie around a ring to hold over my belly.

If you have long hair use a strand of hair... that is what i have always done, I swear i will be bald by 20wks scan

DS1 - I knew was a boy and Birth Calendar said boy.

DS2 - I deep down I think i knew was a boy, but kept thinking girl as was a very different pregnancy... Birth Calendar said girl, ring test said boy.

D? - I'm really hoping girl as would complete our family perfectly but I have absolutely no idea no intuition at all, my head keeps saying boy as i already have two sort of figure this is what we make... but I know it is just luck of the draw and my heart says girl

I had a feeling I was having a boy, however I thought because we were hoping for a boy first that I would actually have a girl  turns out that little niggling feeling was correct, we had a beautiful bubba boy :bee:

I was SURE I was having a boy, all the gender test's said boy and all the old wives tales pointed to a boy but I had a beautiful baby girl. :)

1st I said in my pregnancy diary Girl, and I was right.

This one I have the same feelings but for a boy. I'd love a boy, but will be happy either way.

I don't remember having any strong feelings either way for DD1. Was just sure I would have a boy, because I wanted a girl so much. But no intuition.

DS1, I just knew he was a boy. There was never any dount in my mind. DH and my FIL were painting our new house and they asked what colour I wanted the nursery and I said blue (I was 12 weeks).

DD2, I went to see a psychic and on the way I told my DH I thought I might be pg. Well, I go see psychics as a bit of fun, I don't take everything as fact. But he told me I already had a DD and a DS and was adamant that if I didn't 'prevent' a pregnancy, I would be pregnant very soon. He kept stopping and saying "No, you have to listen to me. You're going to be pregnant very soon." TBH I think he was pretty close to telling me I might be pregnant already! He said it would be a girl. Got a BFP the very next day :o So I don't know if it was intuition or the psychic, but I was expecting a girl and wasn't really surprised when she was, indeed, a she!

DS2, as soon as I saw :bfp: "BOY" came straight into my head. After that initial thought I flip-flopped between boy and girl until 20 weeks. So going by that, I'd say my intuition was definitely boy and my hope for a girl played havoc a bit! :p

I'm loving reading through the posts -- thank you all so much for replying. Each one convinces me I'm either extremely intuative, or that it's all just 50/50 chance.
I've signed up in Due in November -- it'd be interesting if everyone put next to their EDD what their gender prediction is. Or perhaps I should just occupy myself some other way for a while . . .

You know its funny, everyone in my family thought that me and my second elderst sister would have the boys in the family so when I was pregnant with my first I naturally thought I was having a boy just like my sister who has 2 boys, gees I was so over the moon when she was born, cause I so desparately wanted a daughter, and then with my second daughter my gut instinct was a girl and yes she is a girl.

And now that Im ttc#3 I'd like a little boy, but if I dont, that will be perfectly ok with us.

Yes my intuition was right with all of my pregnancies. With DD3 i was just drawn to all the girly things in the shops & girl names & didnt want anything to do with boys at all & with this one it was the complete opposite. Just wanted to look at everything boyish & we found out of Friday that this one is a boy.

 Yep my intuition was right too.

I said from day 1 I'm having a boy.

Even the chinese horoscope said he was a boy.

And I was right!!
It was just a gut feeling......

With DS I knew he was a boy, I was not at all shocked when we found out at the 20 week scan.. in fact it was like 'yeah, I already knew that', it was weird!

With this baby, we are not finding out, so I have a long time to wait to see if I'm right, but I feel girl. DS also refers to it as 'she', and being 2 he really has no preference, just always says 'girl baby' and 'she'.

To go one step further, DS was laying on my belly the other day and told me 'She said good morning Mummy!'.. I replied 'Oh, it's a girl baby, is it?' and he told me, very matter of factly 'No, 2 girl babies, one small broken one and one big fixed one'... Strange thing is, he has no idea that when I went for a scan at 6 weeks, they saw what they believed to be a non viable twin in there next to the healthy bub in it's sac...

Looks like we're a very intuitive family!

We knew there was a little boy coming to us a few years before we had him, had him named and everything.
The Chinese horoscope was right for us too, but I only did that after I had DS just out of curiosity.

Yes, I knew I was having a boy :) Right before my scan, my DH asked me what I thought the gender was, and I said "It's a boy - definitely".

Yes! With DD I knew she was a girl...(we didnt find out via scan or etc but I just knew).
With DS I felt he was a boy but tried to convince myself it was a girl! (ROFL) only because I am one of two sisters and just for some unknown reason thought Id have another girl. All along though I kept saying to DH omg this baby is a boy- when i saw the face scan - i thought boy too.
(again we didnt find out gender).
I looked through the dvd over and over and found what I thought was girl bits...which obviously show I know nothing ROFL.
My SIL is a senior sonographer- I showed her afterwards and she is like OMG there's boy bits all over the place here. ROFL.
