today i decided to do the vacuuming for the first time in a long time (db usually does it coz it hurts me, but he's at work today). i know some of u are probably thinking if it hurts then don't do it! but i just needed to do it, it was driving me insane. anyways i've been having pain when i walk, stand up or roll over in bed. i have been to the dr's about it and he has been giving me a sort of ultrasound treatment - it eased it the first 2 times but now its just back to normal, i don't want to go back to the dr's because i don't want to seem like a whinger, but i am in a lot of pain. i also really think i need to stop working or at least cut back but db seems to think i need to keep working (most for the $$$). i guess i'm just at a loss as to wot to do
:hugs: Can you see a different dr? Maybe they can suggest a different treatment. I only ever had occasional back pain when I was preg, but heat packs really helped...tho mine was never as bad as yours sounds.
You should go have a nice long hot shower/bath, it'll relax you, and maybe even help with the pain
:hugs: Hope you find something that helps soon :hugs:

Is it back pain you are suffering? Has your doc suggested support belts or anything similar? I had ultrasound treatment on my tailbone before falling pg, but also have back probs and have to do deep abdominal stregthening exercises. Perhaps ask to be referred to a Physio or Chiro.
Hope you feel better soon. :hugs:

Sounds like your surge of relaxin hormones have come in early. This happened to me last pregnancy and also this pregnancy. It can also be referred to as Pelvic Instability when it becomes really bad. Ask your doctor for a referral to a physio who is familiar with dealing with pregnant women. You shouldn't be having ultrasound treatment while pregnant, not regularly anyway.
You will probably be recommended to wear a support tube around your torso and a support belt which basically holds your pelvis in place. In all honesty, my pain is much, much less this time around because I'm not working and not sitting on my ar$e for 8 hours a day 6 days a week infront of a computer. I currently do 4 hour blocks a couple of times a week and by the end of the shift I can hardly walk. Until you can get into your physio, try and take on board as much of the following as you can......
Sleep with a pillow between your legs, this will help stabilize your pelvis.
Don't put all of your weight on one leg or foot, always stand with your weight distributed evenly, and don't sit with your legs crossed, always try and remeber, whether sitting or standing to keep your pelvis even.
Don't sit in the one spot for too long, move around, keep active but if you feel pain then stop. Don't do large amounts of walking or any other weight bearing activity, it might feel good while you're doing it, but you will pay for it later, usually the next day.
Don't vacuum or do anything else that requires you to bend over continuously.
Don't lift heavy items (like full washing baskets) invest in a washing trolley to transport your clothes basket to the line, then you're not bending down to pick clothes up either.
Most of all, listen to your body. If it says rest, then rest, if it says stop, then stop.
Good luck - and remember to get that referral to a physio specialising in pregnant women (your local public hospital physio department will have one and if you're a public patient it won't cost you anything). Feel free to PM me if you like - I've lived with this condition pretty much for 18 months straight as for some people (like me) it doesn't go away directly after giving birth (it took me 7 months).

they get such bad press now-a-days, but please please find a reputable chiropractor. not one of those 'put on a contract' ones, but a proper ACC one.
My dad is a retired chiro and the state of the profession drives him to depression. its such a rip off fad these days, but a real proper good chiro can make pregnancy a breeze.
Ask around. the right one really CAN help..
