View Full Version : Could it be... at 6 months old?
Just looking for some advise... my 6 month old DD has started having what looks to me like "temper tantrums". I thought it would be way to young and quite honestly i have no idea what to do.. im guessing just ignore it for the time being? It happened about 4 times today while we were out shopping while i was trying to put her back in her pram after feeds / changes ect..... it involved high pitched squeeling... mega back arching so i cant do the harness up and then once i pick her up or if i carry her, she stops. Im forever learning this mummy business but i thought that sort of thing didnt happen till the toddler phase? She also does it sometimes when i go to put her in the car seat.
TIA

It is very young so I would suggest that perhaps she is somehow uncomfortable in those seats, or there is something in the pram that is making her uncomfortable so she really doesn't want to go back in there?
Also, she could just have been super tired or just wanted her Mummy and the only way she could tell you was to really protest at being moved away from you.
She's just a tiny baby still, so it wouldn't have been a tantrum over not getting her way, or asserting herself or something like it can be in toddlers. She just badly did NOT want to do something and badly DID want to be carried by you and that was the only way she could tell you!
I started a thread on this very thing the other day, except it was in reference to me taking a toy away from DS (he's 7.5 months old). See thread here (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=332032)
And Mybabyleo started one recently too! here (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=331845)
There seems to be the general consensus in the posts that it's moreso babies way of communicating, which makes complete sense seeing as they can't vocalise their wants and needs with words. :)

I wouldn't ignore it, your beautiful baby girl is just trying to communicate that she wants some time with her best friend in the whole wide world (YOU!).
It's not a temper tantrum, she can't say 'mummy I'm feeling a bit grumpy/tired/sick of having achey gums/itchy/uncomfortable/sick of this toy' etc, all she can do to communicate is cry and then when you respond with a cuddle all is well with the world because she luffs you to bits. :yelclap:
