Hi
My DS is 4 weeks old and last week we found out he has quite a large inguinal hernia. I am waiting to get in to see a Pediatric Surgeon to find out where we go from here.
I was just wanting to hear from others who may have gone through the same thing. Did it effect the baby/cause pain and did things improve after surgery etc?
My DS has severe colic and spends hours a day screaming and trying to pass wind and poo. He also has trouble breastfeeding, as he can not seem to stay on for long enough to get the right attachment (he is too busy pushing and grunting trying to release wind). I am having to express and bottle feed - which is not so easy!

Any feedback or advice would be great. TIA

My DS was born with an inguinal hernia too. they kept an eye on it and said surgery at 6mths if it hadn't spontaneously resolved. he is now 4.5 mths and the hernia is improving. His testicle has started dropping down where it should be and the hernia retracts back to where it should be too.

Just waiting to see if the change becomes permanent. I believe it was really painful for him at times as he screamed and cried with wind and bowel movements until it started improving. Smaller more regular feeds helped.

Hope it resolves for your bub too.:hugs:

Thank you :) Hope your son keeps improving and is fully recovered soon. I am off to Doc again tomorrow to get some more advice.
