Hi,

I contacted the Maybe Baby people re my sample which seems to take ages to dry and therefore form ferns or pebbles and so i wanted to check this out. I asked whether the composition of saliva changes over time and therefore the result I was getting hrs later was infact a correct one.

this is the response i got and I quote

"Thanks you for your enquiry regarding MAYBE BABY. If your sample is taking longer than 10-15 minutes to dry you are probably putting too much saliva on the lens. Try to put a little less saliva on the lens (if it dries in 5 minutes or under you have not put enough on and probably wont see anything). It does take a bit of practicing but you will get the hang of it.

Having said that, if your reading that takes longer to dry is appropriate to the time in your cycle then you can use it as a guide (ie you are seeing pebbles or ferns at the correct time in your cycle). We just like to warn people that the sample may get contaminated and if you are getting an unusual reading and you have left it for a long time that may be why. "

ie: results viewed much later are corret as long as the sample has not been contaminated.

hope this info helps

Right, I think that is maybe why it never worked for me as my saliva took longer to dry, and I made sure I did not out too much. Well, I will do it again today and see what it does! I was happy to see that for once it worked!
