View Full Version : What words do u never seem to spell correctly the first time??

For me it used to be 'definitely'. I used to spell it how I pronounce it as 'definantly'.

Now it's query and queries Lol I saw it in the title of another thread.

Is that how it's spelt? My trusty iPhone hasn't changed the spelling so I assume it's right but it looks so wrong lol!

it's prob freudian, I am a really good speller but I just can not remember diahhroea or hammerhoid (sp, sp)

Clumsy. For some reason I always try to sneak a B in there (clumbsy).

And manoeuvre gets me sometimes too.

I used to have trouble spelling diarrhoea until I was doing medico-legal typing and believe me, after typing the same word more than 20 times a day you soon learn how to spell it! LOL

I get a giggle out of seeing the word "pregnate" used on here, too. (I assume they're thinking of the term "impregnate").

:detective: have I ever noticed the first s?? But I always used to miss spell pregnant always used to miss the first n :o

Lol I know the answer to this! It's definitely :):):) i have to break down the word in my mind when I spell it because I don't actually pronounce the dam word like that- it's a sneaky one haha.

There's actually a few wirds in here that I wouldn't be able to spell and don't even know the meaning to, thank god my life is they dull haha!

I used to also struggle with vehicle in school and alchohol??? Is that it lol?

and for some reason 'sure' always looks wrong to me. I'm glad my phone has auto spellcheck :)
I always use the ESL excuse, even though I've spoken English for some time now :)

Their used to be a big one I used that stupid I be e rule and spelt it thier for years until I was in tafe and a teacher picked it up and I learnt it was their :o

I struggle with definitely too! I have no idea why, it is not a difficult word and I am a good speller. Accommodation always throws me too.
