I use Huggies Nappies and for the last month or so they always leak at night. Pretty much every night. The longest a nappy is on my daughter at night for is 5 hours. I think they might leak beacuse my daughter rolls onto her side and maybe they are not that absorbent when babies lie on their side...
I just wanted to know if anyone can suggest another brand nappy that might not leak as much ( if the baby sleeps on their side)?
I have heard Aldi nappies are good so I was going to go and buy a pack and try them out.

i have heard of parents using boy's huggies on girls at night because they are absorbant (sp?) or something along those lines.
my ds1 used to leak in his huggies alot we found once we switched to a different size this stopped :D

I was just going to suggest that also!!!!

But seriously have you considered using a cloth nappy for nighttime??? Before I made the switch to cloth fulltime I tried every disposable brand on the market - none of them worked for my heavy wetter DS - now that he is in a cloth nappy overnight we are back to sleeping through (for 10-12hrs straight) - and no nappy change during the night!

Just an idea for you to consider...... :D

I found Huggies highly overrated. 1 out of every 2 leaked!!

Aldi Mamia are brilliant and cheap. No night time leaks here - and he stays in the nappy for 8-11 hrs.

The waist is much higher, which helps heaps - and their sizing brackets are much better!

yep, I changed size and the problem was solved too.

I thought cloth would leak more, or are u using the plastic covers on them?

Depends on the kind of cloth you use....

I use baby beehinds bamboo on both of my boys and yes they require a cover so I use a woolen cover and have had no leaks.

But now there are pockets (most don't require covers), fitteds (most of these do require a cover), AIO (all in one) - a whole new world actually!

My daughter was a side sleeper aswell and i had the same problem with her when she was younger. I used to put washable (cloth) breast pads in the side of her nappies at night and these would stop the leaks but they would be saturated by morning. I tried different brands of nappies but found they seemed to make no difference. My daughter had a really thick waist.

Thanks for your comments. I didn't even think to use cloth at night ( durrr.......).
When using cloth, do you need to put a liner inside the nappy ( like a chux cloth thingy or just the nappy by itself). My daughetr only does number 1's at night so I wouldn't need to be cleaning up number 2's.
The washable breastpad on either side is also a good idea!

Depends on the type of cloth you use....

With the Modern Cloth Nappies they come with boosters and a microfleece liner (this will keep bub's bum dry!!!).

Best bet is to check out some of the threads in the Nappy section. This one is probably the best thread at the moment that tells you about all sorts of nappies! http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=32495 or there is this one.... http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=32696

Good luck! (Oh and be warned... the new world of modern cloth is very addictive!!!)

Hi

We use Coles own and we put towelling training pants over them. However, it turned out that the soaking through of the nappy was probably due to a urine infection and it stopped after about 5-6 weeks.

I had the same prob, even rang huggies about it, and they sent me a replacement box, but still had leaks. So changed to babylove, they are higher and wider around the waist. no probs anymore:smiliedance:

Hey Bec, my daughter used to leak every night and I had tried lots of different nappies.

Then I found a product made by bebes called Nappy Mates. They are like a pad that you place inside the nappy and it adds extra absorbency. They are great. I have been using them for months now and have never had a leak. I don't have to change my dd in the middle of the night and she sleeps for about 10 - 12 hours.
I found them in the nappy aisle of my local Woolworths, and they aren't that expensive for a pack of 20.

I used babylove newborns for DD. and they left the crystals on her. I don't know if it was just the newborns nappies or all of them.

hi.. i also have the same problem with my youngest daughter, she always leaks! im trying to solve it, but havent had any luck so far, except for changing her a few times through the night, one reason is cause she is a big wetter, and two she loves her milk at night! also i have used huggies, and they have been really good, but the best ones were bambo nature ones, they were the best!!! pity i cant afford them!

funny isnt it - I reckon all little ones so different as I had this problem with newborn huggies tried babylove and they were awful she just leaked everywhere...so I went up a size early first tried babyloves cos they cheaper and the leaking still happened then moved back to huggies in a bigger size and so far so good!!:smiliedance: I far to lazy to do the cloth thing I am afraid...and my husband wont have a bar of it...
