Which lactose free formula do you use?
How long did it take to start seeing an improvement?

I have also posted this in another forum.

I was told yesterday from Doc that my nearly 6 week old son in lactose intolorant, and that I had to change formula to lactose free one, just wanting to know wich one you liked most.

I still not 100% sure that this is the only problem, and have feeling may have silent reflux but I dont know, some of his symptoms are
Crying (screaming) pretty much most of the day only stops when feeding and sleeping. Does not sleep very well during day, night times not too bad.
Constantly squirming,moving legs and arms.
Very unsettled even when holding him.
Lots of farts
Very explosive poos
Does not always burp very easy
Wanting to feed every 2 hours sometimes a little less or more.
No vomiting but.
Snuffly nose as if he has the flu.

So we started him on Karicare De Lact last night, but obviously too soon too see any improvement yet. I just hope it works he has been so miserable and I have been in tears everyday for last few days, It just so stressfull.

If you are suspecting reflux, which is sounds like to me. I would go for a milk free formula like soy, or a HA formula. If things don't settle, you may need an elemental formula, paeds prescribe these: neocate and elecare. It is not usually lactose that is the problem, it's cow's milk protein.

Your son sounds exactly the same as what mine was .... we tried so many different formula's after breast refusal and weeks of exhausting expressing - (the breast milk was making him scream in pain for hours after each feed).

We decided to try Novalac Colic formula and the difference has seriously been amazing. We also suspected that our DS could be lactose intolerant. Before this we tried so many formula's and nothing worked (including S26LF) - but Nan Gold HA was by far the worst for him.

He has since been diagnosed with refulx - which the formula did also seem to help - but he was still gagging during the night. I now thicken the formula with Karicare thickener and he rarely brings milk up and no more gagging either :)

Anyway I hope you can find something that works for your little man
