Hi all,
Just a quick question - does anybody send their bubs to childcare in modern cloth? If so, do they have any problems with using them at all?
DS is off to childcare in September for a couple of days a week and I really don't want to use disposables. I'm intending to buy more Green Kids as they seem the easiest to use for the carers. The place he goes to change the nappies every hour so I'll have quite a stash to take with me and return home!
Look forward to your advice

I used to when Bridie was in child care. The girls were great about it and used to even rinse them out for me! I would have been happy to just have the whole lot put in a bag and deal with it later - I did not expect them to deal with poo... I used to send terry flats too, with a wool soaker.

one centre i used to do placement.. wont mention the name cause i hated it!! anyhow, one little kid used cloth(terry towling) and they used to wash it out and put it in the bucket for the mother, so i think most will do that, well, its nice if they do, cause its a bit less work for you, i know , cause my eldest daughter used to wear cloth (terry towling) and its alot of work! (she didnt go to child care centres though)

The centre where my DS will be going next year told me that they are happy to order nappy wash for him if I prefer him to be in cloth - which I do.
There is no extra charge associated with it - they provide disposables, so will provide cloth if I want it, I just need to provide the pilchers.

my ds goes to 2 different day cares. 1 he goes to on wednesday and friday and they prefer bubs to be in disposable nappies and ask that you provide a nappy for bubs to go home in.
the other ds goes to on thrusdays and they actually prefer to use cloth but if you want bubs to use disposable you have to bring in your own. i supply a nappy for ds to come home in :)

Thanks for the info. When I get a spare moment I'll give them a call and suss out their attitude towards it. Fingers crossed as I really don't want to worry about buying disposables.

My daughter had a reaction to disposables, so I simply told them that under no circumstance was a sposie to be put on her;) so they had no choice but to use cloth. I didn't buy sposies for my own home use and was not about to start buying them for daycare! I paid top $ for care, and the way I see it, you pay them, they should respect your wishes - regarding anything.

Yep - you're right. I really don't want to put him in disposables just for daycare - especially because I've noticed a big difference in his nappy rash since changing to cloth - none in cloth versus immediate rash in disposables. I'll also make it as easy as possible for them. I use Greens/Peapods at the moment which are really basic and work just like a disposable. Only difference is I get to take them home and wash them. You never know I might even convert some of the carers to cloth when they see how swish his little cloth bottom is!! :yelclap:
