Hi Everyone!
My DD is 4.5 months old and about 6 weeks ago she was diagnosed with reflux. Long story short she is now on Losec and on ehr paeds recommendation ive been adding Karicare Food Thickener to her Nan HA Gold1 formula.
This is getting way to expensive as it is $24 for the formula and another $15 for the thickener.
We saw our GP today and she suggested to just go onto an AR formula which Im happy to do but Im not sure which one.
She used to be on Karicare Gold infant formula but she was very spewey(now know that was from her reflux). The pharmacist suggested Novalac but Im so confused!!!
Suggestions?
TIA

My DS has been on Karicare AR formula for a week & a half and so far, so good.
I have heard good things about the Novalac range & was going to get their AR one, but it was 6.30pm on a Saturday night & the only 2 chemists that were open didn't sell the Novalac range... I was desperate so just ended up getting the Karicare one.
No real problems so far :)
Good luck & I hope you find one that works for you.

We had DS on S26 AR. Worked a treat.
To make it easier on her tum, change over slowly. 1/4 AR with 3/4 current untill you get down to 100% AR.
Feel free to PM me.

Novalac AR was fabulous for my twins, cant recommend it enough. We used the Novalac Colic for my last ds and wouldnt hesistate to use the Novalac AR or AC again if the need arises.

Will introducing it this way help to stop tummy problems?
Also I really like using Nan with the thickener cuz i figuered once it settles down i can just stop adding thickener. Do you use AR formula untill they wean to cows milk?

I"m also currently using Nan HA with Karicare thickener, but since starting the thickener my bubs poos have become looser.I'm not sure if he's uncomfortable though...just thought I add that.
I too am not sure whether moving to an AR formula will be better. Be aware the Novalac formula is a smaller tin, if yr comparing prices.
I have a stockpile of Nan since I bought it on special. so I have to use it up with the thickener for now and I've only been adding the thickener gradually so I've been adding 3/4 a scoop to his 160ml formula so he doesn't get TOO upset in the tummy

It may but its not a given that it wont upset her tum.
We changed J back to S26 Gold over christmas when he started refusing thickened feeds.
If you like using the Nan & thickener there is no need to change.
Also adding thickener you have the option off making it as thick as you need too.
I have used S26AR for both of my kids and it worked well with DS and is working for DD who has only been on it for 2 weeks
