View Full Version : Sent home after water broke
My water broke 10pm last nite i went into hospital and have been there all nite cause my contractions were 4-5mins apart but since about 9am my contractions have gone to 20-30mins apart and they have sent me home saying i should go back when they get closer or go back 2morrow morning.
I'm just wondering is it safe to be sent home after water has broken ??
They would have sent you home in the hope you will go into active labour naturally by the morning, if not you will get induced in the morning, as long as the waters were not stained, bubs not in distress then there is no reason why u need to stay at the hospy so yes it is safe, but if you feel better being in hospital just call them and say so, you have every right ti be there if thats what you want.
GOOD LUCK!!! you'll have your bubba soon :yelclap:
yer they said if my contractions get closer come in if they don't get closer come back in the morning for a check up and then they will go from there but at this stage they have me booked to be induced on Saturday cause they are all booked out 2morrow.
Also if i have any other problems just go straight in.
Do you live far from the hospy? I don't think it is dangerous, but don't go swimming in a public pool or anything  I think that the best thing to do is relax and let the contractions come on :) Maybe try laying down in a dark room and hopefully it will all speed back up and you will be at the hospy in no time with bubs in your arms :cloud9:
Yes it's safe, and probably a good thing to. I would rather labour at home for as long as possible, in the comfort of my own home. I think it assists with the progression of labour, rather than being in a cold, sterile hospital. Just go straight back if you feel as though things are really getting underway again, or if you feel uncomfortable and insecure in any way.
My waters broke without having any contractions and I was the one who wanted to leave hospy :) I waited at home for 48 hours checking my temperature regularly to check for infections which you are at a higher risk of once your waters have broken. I ended up being induced because my contractions never really started. I understand now that in a normal pregnancy with no sign of infection you can wait even longer.
BTW the amniotic fluid is constantly replenishing itself after your waters break.
you dont have the strep b thing do you? cause if you do then you should be in hospital as they have to give you antibiotics but i am asuming you dont have it cause i cant see a hospital bing that stupid in sending you home with that. can you get your partner to take you for a walk and stuff. no way i would go home but i have three kids at home so labour would be hell with them around at least the two little ones anyway lol
good luck hopefully everything will be fine
my cousin had her waters broke and the hospital said that their is no way you get sent home if waters have broken i guess every hospital is different
I think I would rather go home and let things happen naturally. When my waters broke they kept me in hospital and were reluctant in letting me go home. I had to be induced the next day.
