View Full Version : Twins sleeping through the night?
:wave:Ladies
Just wondering at what age did your twins start sleeping all night?
My babies are almost 5 months old now and there still waking up 2 times a night:hair:i give them there bottle and they go back to sleep but i want them to get out of this habit:rolleyes:any ideas??
Twins are supposed to sleep through the night?:eek:
Twins or not, I think it's up to the individual babies.
My two have never come close, and I don't mean to scare you, but this is a run down of how last night went for me:
7pm both in bed asleep
9pm L wakes, feed, sleep
9:20pm B wakes, feed, sleep
10:15 L wakes, feed, sleep
10:30 B wakes, feed, sleep
12:30 L wakes, feed sleep
12:50 B wakes, feed, sleep
2:30 Both awake. Feed B whilst patting L, swap.
L DOES NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP TIL 4:45am. I spend this time in his room sitting by his cot either telling him quietly when he stirs to go to sleep, or patting his back.
5:35 L awake, feed will not go back to sleep. Get up.
5:45 B awake too.
I don't think I have to point out how depressing their sleeping is atm... BUT I'm sure someone else will post in here that their twins are excellent sleepers, thus proving the point that it's not a twin thing, it's just a unique thing to each child. (I'm just so *lucky* NOT that my boys are highly demanding day and night...)

When they feel like it.
I have one the sleeps through & 2 that dont.
Be thankful its only twice each & not the 3 times I do or million times Nomes does.

It is really dependant on the baby - twins or not - sorry.
I had DD2 sleeping through for a while, and DS2 was waking 3times a night. I had one blissful night with BOTH sleeping from 10pm-7am :cloud9: (Shame DS1 was awake at 2am that night :hair:) And now DS2 has continued that pattern, and DD2 is waking 2-3times a night! :laughing:Seems I am destined to not get much sleep! With my single bubbas - DD1 slept 10pm-5am from 5weeks, and DS1 from about 8months he'd do 11-12hrs a night. It will happen.....one day!
Remeber too that their bellies are TINY, so to expect them to sleep through is really asking ALOT of them. It's hard on you, especially if you don't have a chance to nap in the day - but one day, it will end (or so I keep telling myself!)
:(Oh i had this feeling most twins sleep in by this age guess i was wrong:laughing:
My other 4 babies use to sleep all through from around 2 months thats why i thought perhaps im doing something wrong.
Oh well zombie days continue :p

My two are 12 months and still have a dreamfeed at 10.30 and up until a couple of nights ago were having a 5am feed and then straight back to bed until 7am. DS has dropped this feed the last two nights and DD has had a 2am feed the last two nights instead! I just try and go with the flow. If feeding them means they go straight back to sleep I'd much rather do that than stay up all night re-settling two babies. I did this with DD1 and made myself miserable telling myself that she "should" be sleeping through by now. Best not to have too many expectations. Sounds like you were very lucky with your other children sleeping through from such a young age!

Well thought of another idea hope it helps tonight,i have put the cot right next to my bed so i can just slip my hands through and quickly pat there bum and see if that gets them out of the needing a bottle.
Also :o im going to have one of them in bed with us hopefully she will get a better night sleep.
Fingers crossed its gets them out of the 12am wake up.
