Depo then implanon, now TTC

Hello,
I have been on and off depo for years, my last injection was April 2005, 16 months ago. I didn't get my period the whole time I was on it, nor once it supposedly wore off. In January 2006 I had an implanon inserted, and only had one light period on that. I had the implanon removed two days ago as we want to start a family.
Has anyone else had an experience similar? Would the depo have worn off while I was on implanon? What kinda time frame might I be looking at for my cycle to get back to normal and maybe get pregnant?
Any help would be good!

Hi, I never had the depo injections, but i did have the implanon. I don't know if i'm gunna be much help tho, with my implanon i had strange effects, 2,3 sometimes almost 4 cycles in the space of one!!! :thumbsdown: I had it removed in March and we haven't been using anything since then, so it has been almost 6 months with no luck ttc. Having said that i have a friend who fell pregnant straight away. My doc told me that it wears out immediately...

I'm worried coz i know that people have gotten pregnant straight away after having it removed, but its been so long since I even have a period, I have forgotten what they are like. I'm seriously talking maybe 1 a year for the last 4-5 years! and usually not 'proper' ones.
And I'm guessing im not going to concieve until i get back into proper rhythm..

Firstly, hello, and welcome :wave:

I just want to say that I had the implanon in for the full duration of 3 years, with my last child.. in fact, it was almost a month late coming out. the doctor told me that it was immediate in regards to fertility returning, and that i had to go on the pill to start my period and cycle back, I went on the pill for 3 weeks, came off it, and got pregnant that week! I never had my period the whole time I had the implant in, only problem was I put on alot of weight, and got headaches from it.
I have heard stories that the first month of coming off of bc is good for getting pregnant, your fertility is high in that first month, so good luck!

I'm a bit excited coz I woke up this morning and seem to be spotting. I never thought vauge cramps and chocolate cravings would make me excited haha!

I was on Depo for 5 years, was due to get one in June 2005 but didnt was then pregnant in Dec 2005 and M/C then Pregnant again in April...

I was on depo for 4 years and then had an implanon inserted. I had it removed after the full three years and DH and I were by then ready to start TTC....it took us one cycle!...I've recently had a new implanon inserted and all has been good. I hope this helps and goodluck with TTC:)

I was on Depo for approx 8 years and I only had one period in that time (when i was lazy about getting the needle and it came after 8 weeks) I had my last injection in March, 2005 and then decided to not get anymore to get ready for TTC. I didn't then get a period until January, 2006 but have been regular since then apart from one whacky longer cycle

ok, another question for anyone who has had Implanon... Did it affect your sex drive? when you had it out were you umm... insatiable? coz im driving myself and BF *insane*.
I'm trying to read a chapter on Administrative Law for a class tomorrow and all I can think about is attacking the poor guy!
Sorry if its TMI, but I havent felt like this in... ever!

It had exactly the opposite effect on me :confused: It was really horrible....
