View Full Version : Egg Allergy and Eczema
Hi,
My 15 month old daughter has eczema. She had really servere rashes when she was 3 months old and allergy testing showed that she was allergic to eggs. She was breast fed at the time and by cutting eggs out of my diet we greatly reduced the serverity of her eczema. Since introducing solids we have avoided all foods containing eggs and her eczema is now mild with only occassional flare ups.
I would love to hear any tips or advise from other parents dealing with eczema and egg allergies.

hi bub2luv, i posted to your other thread earlier!
My story is again pretty much the same as yours accept my DS is also allergic to dairy, tuna, peanuts as well as the egg.
His diet mainly consits of fresh fruit, veg and meats. Luckly he isn't allergic to wheat because he loves his weekbix and bread!
Even though we are avoiding the foods we know he is allergic to he still seems to get the eczema all teh time. He has atopic eczema so it can flare up for no reason without him being allergic to something.
It can get quiet frustrating at times. We know his allergies are inherited as I also suffer from allergies, eczmea and ashtma.
I am hoping that he grows out of the food allergies as he gets older.
The best advice I can give you is to avoid as many of the commercially prepared foods as you can and stick with the fresh produce.

my ds isnt allergic to eggs as far as i know but i havent given them to him yet (kinda scared too) he is 15 months old and has eczema and asthma. his eczema has flared up from eating strawberries, using toothpaste that had SLS in it and salmon. we are in the process of organising allergy tests to find out exactly what he is allergic to and what is an intolerance.his eczema i have been told by gp is atopic.
I don't have any answers.
My son has eczema - he has suffered with it for over 2 years.
He is also allergic to eggs, tomato and milk.
I feel for those who have to deal with severe eczema and allergies.
Its not easy.:hugs:

My DS (21months) has egg and nut allergy, for which we have an epipen. Due to these allergies, he has excema.
These are the things we have done that have greatly improved the excema:
5 minute baths/showers; pat dry then cover in QV Dry Skin Lotion. Apply cortisone cream for no more than 7 days on, then 4 days off. (note, we now only need to apply in small patches when there are flare ups)
wash clothes in sensitive skin laundry detergent and use hot water
read all food labels and don't buy those that say have trace of eggs/nuts if another similar product is available. (we have noticed that while he doesn't have any overt allergic reaction to trace of egg/nut, his excema does flare up). We have found egg free cookies which he just loves (Wheelies).
keep bub cool.. do not overdress. all clothes should be 100% cotton. don't use singlets at all as they can irritate the skin.
Hopefully, ds will grow out of the egg allergy, but we are unsure of the nut allergy.
Hope some of this helps.

My daughter has Eczema and I wont be introducing her to eggs until she is at least five if I can... as my family has a history of all the females being allergy to eggs - trippy my brother is fine!
