Hi friends,

I have been charting my menstrual cycle for the last five months and my last cycle was very unusual and I need some advice.

In the first 4 cycles my luteal phase (period from ovulation to when my period started) was always 13 days. In my last cycle my luteal phase lasted for 18 days. I had cramping for 1 week before my flow started. On the day I thought my period was late by a 3 days I took a hpt which showed up negative. When my period started it was very painfull (more than normal) and lasted longer than normal.

I have read that the luteal phase is usually always the same length each cycle. Is it possible I may have been pregnant and had a very early miscarriage?

If it could have been a miscarriage should I be trying to get pregnant again straight away or should I be waiting?

I would love to hear from anyone that has been through something similar or who has any advise for me.

I am no expert, but I have heard that this is quite possible. If your period finishes in the normal timeframe with no more pain, I would still TTC next month. If you are unsure though, check with a doctor to make sure.
keeping :fingerscrossed: for you for next time. :)

Some women can have an early miscarriage before even knowing they have concieved. So it could be. Like the last post said if your bleeding stops at the normal time it should, you can probably chalk it up to a late period. But, if you have had a miscarriage you will probably bleed a little longer, sometimes 3 to 6 weeks after. I would have a Dr. take a look, they can tell you for sure. Also if it wasn't a complete miscarriage you may need a D & C, so call the doc.

It's usual if you are pg you will get a +ve on the test even if it is a m/c.

I had similar symptoms the cycle before my BFP.
It is quite normal for women to have an unusual AF, with more heavy cramping and clots etc and a longer luteal phase. It does happen.

I would just keep "lovin" and TTC.

I think in many of these situations we like to think it was a m/c kind of like telling ourselves well.. i know I can get pg.

If you think back during your cycles before you were TTC.. did you ever get a heavier AF than usual? We tend to notice these things a lot more during out TTC time.

Sounds very much like a chemical pregnancy - and it is very common. No need to wait to TTC again.

Hi  my luteal phase seems to be 13 days one month and 19 days the next month - seems to take it in turns each month. It is really annoying because on the months with the long luteal phase I really start to get my hopes up and sometimes wonder if something has gone on (like a chemical pregnancy). It sure is confusing this ttc business  Good luck :fingerscrossed:

:o Thanks for all the great advice!

I will try not to dwell on my last cycle too much and keep looking forward to the future. This cycle in now looking promising with small ferns just beginning to show on my maybe baby so better luck this time :fingerscrossed: .

:D Thanks Friends and best wishes to you all!
