Father,
Brain- enables stroke.
Heart- enables heart attack.

How silly does that sound? Someone posts a thread discussing the function of something and you counter with an irregularity. It is not as common as you keep going on about and your link offers a number of non amputating treatments.

It seems that these poor teenagers and men won't get any treatment because they are too embarrassed. They are just living with the pain.

Like anything else it is a case of education, early education for parents so they don't try to forcefully retract their child's foreskin and later education for young men so they know what is 'normal' and what needs treatment. True phimosis, whilst very distressing and I'm sure painful, is very rare. Phimosis isn't limited to the male foreskin, you can actually get clitoral phimosis too but we don't agree with female circ do we.

Yeah I did. Did they????? Men are stupid. I don't know whether it is pride or what but they just won't go to the doctor when they need to. Women have to get the inside of their hoo-ha regularly checked out, but a man won't even go for an obvious problem. No wonder you lot die younger than women.

 I know what our shortcomings are. And that is definitely one of them. Doctors only ever bring bad news right?:)

I have read the comments and responded to some. I know you are not refering to me however there are a few out there hell bent on promoting their self interests of non circumcision to the detriment of many boys and young adults. Such suffering what a shame and they are too embarassed to get anything done, how much easier would it have been if the parents took the lead and just went and had them circumcised.

Their self-interests? What on earth do you mean?

I'm sure you mean retract their foreskin. [/pedant]

That didn't actually answer my question. :) I was asking what you meant by your statement in which you suggested people are "hell bent on promoting their self interests of non circumcision".

There is a huge big list of supposed things that removal of the foreskin cause, when viewed individually in medical litrature for the causes of those conditions I do not seem to notice anywhere a mention of circumcision or lack of a foreskin to be the cause. However it is evidenced and demonstrated a lot that a foreskin does cause problems. I do not know about you but in light of this people that carry on about these things one must wonder about their self interest. That is about all I can say about it at the moment and I am sure you and others will have some comeback.

What is your "self interest"

There is nothing sinister about people advocating for babies to have bodily autonomy...

To make sure parents are able to access doctors to discuss circumcision.

All this means is boys need more education about their bodies, about their anatomy and puberty, what's normal and what's not. I think a big part of the problem is thinking something is wrong but having no idea how it is or being afraid that if they say something somebody's going to cut part of their penis off. Most cases of phimosis can be treated by a topical (applied to the skin) steroid cream, a super easy, non-invasive, painless solution. If boys learned about phimosis and frenulum breve and that these conditions are usually easily treatable without foreskin amputation, I think they'd be much more likely to seek treatment and get relief.

According to Father, it isn't that hard!

I have only just recently become acutely aware of how it is now that parents are so easily able to find a doctor that will do the circumcision procedure for them thanks for your concerns though. It was not the case not so long ago that parents found it so easy as it is today and it was difficult for a referal for a circumcision for their boy/s to the extent it was advised against and to what i am hearing this is either not happening or not so much anymore.
