Were planning to try for baby no.2 around xmas time and I know I sound very selfish when I say I REALLY WANT A GIRL this time round....
However I would be v.happy with another boy, but am interested in any ideas on how you can help nature in choosing the sex of your baby?
I hear there are special diets that can help and how many times you have sex can also help determine the bubs sex? Am not to sure how those work so any advice, tips or information would be helpful :D
Thanks in advance

Hey Sarah, I had only ever heard (until recently) of timing BD about 2-3 days before ovulation to get a girl. Since they swim slower and live longer than boys, there's more chance it will be girls that are still hanging around when the egg pops out. Mind you, to maximise conception they do say to BD on the day of ovulation so trying for a girl can mean it takes a little longer I guess. :rolleyes:
The other theory I recently heard is that you have more chance of a girl if the sperm are warm. I know of a couple who tried for (and conceived) a girl by timing BD as above AND taking a blow-dryer to the spermies before doing it. Yep - warming things up with a hairdryer! :eek: All I can say is it worked for them so might be worth a shot!! :)

DD#1, I was using Billings method, and quite probaby timed it a day or two ahead of ovulation.
DD#2 I used a ovulation test kit, and we only had sex the day I had the +ve on that, and voila, another girl.
The baby under construction now, we did the same as for DD#2, gender not known yet, but I have had an amnio done, so the truth will out VERY soon. I'm not going to be shocked if I have another girl.
My DH and I were thinking about trying for No 2 and wanted a boy and I came across a gender selection website based in the US. I think it was genderselection.com.
Anyway, they offer a program for approx $149US that tells you the days of the month to concieve the desired sex. I wasn't really keen on parting with my money for that so I just received a couple of emails telling me various things such as Cosmic's suggestion on the timing etc due to the longevity of the girl swimmers.
Anyway, apparently they suggested an Alkaline diet would improve your chances of having a boy and Acidic for girls. Its suggested the diet should start 1 month prior to conception.
Acidic = Girls.
Apricot, lentil, lamb, marinade, pinapple, mustard, peanut, nutmeg, asparagus, orange, aubergine, grapefruit, oats, peach, beet, plum, wheat, radish, beef, rhubarb, coffee, soya, cinnamon, tomato, chocolate, salmon, lemon, sugar, spinach, tea, seafood, tuna, kiwi, veal, vinegar, yoghurt.
Alkaline = Boys,
Almond, melon, banana, coconut, carrot, onion, celery, barley, avocado, parsley, chamomile, red & green pepper, cauliflower, pear, pumpkin, leek, cucumber, rice, squash, potato, zucchini, lettuce, lucerne, cheese, yellow apple, water.
Hope that helps. We have sought of followed the diet but we only really restricted a couple of the acidic foods so we weren't that careful. We are pregnant now but won't know the sex for a while.
Good luck.
Cheers

I have heard that for a girl to not have the big O bc when you do it changes the
enviroment that is better for male sperm but if you hold out then the enviroment
is better for female sperm. Also bd as much as you can before O is due so that
the female sperm is already there since like the others said they last longer. There
is really no way to be sure of getting on sex or the other but these things are
suppose to help with the odds. We are also tring to have a girl bc my dd has all
brothers and we think she needs a sister now but like you another boy would
be ok to.
