Just wondering if any breastfeeding mother's out there have been on anti-depressiants while breastfeeding.
I have been diagonosed with PND and been precribed "zoloft" but still abit iffy about side effects and if any can be passed on to my bub and be harmful. Ive been trying natural alternatives but its just not working.
What have other mother's done??

I took Zoloft the whole way through my pregnancy and while i breastfeed Kobi. He never had a problem/side affect while i was breastfeeding and was perfectly healthy when born and still is to this day. (he turns 6 in just under 2 weeks) there have been several posts on here in regards to Anti depressants in pregnancy and BF heres a few links for you to browse through if you want

Thank you loads Mummy2Kobi&Hailee..
Well I end up starting them about a month ago and the same happened to my bub. He got sick a couple days after I started them, but I dont think it really had anything to do with it but its certainly did worry me, and he went through a major fussy stage but it could of just been a growth spurt.
I take 50mg, Im suppose to take them of a morning but I find them better of a night.
Do/did they make any of you tired??
mummatabee - I have taken citalopram (celexen/celexa) while breastfeeding with 2 of my children, I found no side effects at all. If you feel the zoloft may not be working, or giving you side effects, you can always try another.
Here is an article about breastfeeding and anti depressants, it lists a few which are on the "OK" list.
Take care.

Thanks AM I shall check the list out and I might talk to my doc about upping the dosage because it doesnt seem to be working as good as it used to.

Yeah thats why I changed mine to night because I was just so tired of a morning otherwise and got heaps frustrated more because of it. Try it of a night and see how you go, and trust me it will not harm your baby at all. I was so worried about my son because Im breastfeeding but zoloft is the best one for breastfeeding and pregnancy. How long you been on it for??
The only reason I take them in the morning is that in the evening gives me nightmares.
I'd definitely get the dosage sorted, at times I've had to double my dose to have it work properly.
Take care.
