DD has had terrible diarrhoea for 24 hours now.
really really runny poos. they escape her nappy every time. so sick of soaking clothes / sheets in nappy san today!
her temp is fine, she seems ok in herself and has 4 teeth coming through on top. she is off her food tho. so the teeth could be the cause of the diarrhoea. maybe?
i dont know whether to keep her home from childcare tomorrow...
would you?

DS had this when he first started teething. It went on for about 2 weeks. I think we ended up keeping him home about 2 different times during those 2 weeks. Each time at daycare they told me not to worry and that they had seen it plenty of times with kids teething.

Most childcare services have a policy of exclusion for 24 hrs after diarrhoea ceases or clearance from a Dr. It may be teething but I guess unless you know for sure it is probably safer to keep her at home, I guess would you be happy if she was at daycare with a child who had diarrhea escaping from a nappy.

What she said ^^ :)

I understand it's hard to know what's causing it but not all bugs present as a fever etc.

My DS2 has bowel issues so to then have him come into contact with a child who has something while in care is really frustrating as any type of bug can take him a month to clear if not longer, so just thing if things were reversed would you want your littlie around a child with a possible bug.

Most childcare centres will send a child home after their 3rd runny poo.
I have recieved phone calls from my DD's centre after her second one just to let me know.
Maybe give the centre a call, explain that your DD is teething, see what they say

No I would not send her. You would probably find they will send her home if you do send her. I know a few day cares send kids home after they have had 3 consecutive runny poos. You could tell them she is teething, but I don't think they will risk it.

I would keep her home. Daycare normally will call you to sick bub up if they are having poonamis.

I would keep her home. Not risk her getting other sick, being sick at childcare, and also, if she does runny poos in care, odds are, they'll give you a call to collect her anyway.

Sorry :hugs:

Id stay home.

For us, i get pretty cranky when i find out we've been around someone who has a bug. Takes us longer to get over it than most.

I'd keep my DD home but I am a SAHM. If I was SURE it was the teething and I had to work I would send her to CC.

How could it be teething? Might seem a bit ignorant but I didn't know teeth could cause changes to poo. I would say it is a bug, maybe teething causes the immune system to be a little compromised and therefore more prone to bugs that could be from water, sucking things they shouldn't (which they'd do way more when teething) and other means of ingesting nasties.
