I know we've all gone through lists like this before; I just wanted to put in writing why I love breastfeeding so much!!
* It's healthy, I'm giving my son the absolute best possible start in life.
* It's free!
* It's convenient, always ready and always the perfect temperature, consistency and amount.
* Lazy old me doesn't have to take anything with us when we go out, except a spare nappy.
* His poo's smell not-so-bad (sometimes Curtis' smell like KFC.... I think it's the nappies....)
* His breath smells so beautiful!!
* If his nose is clogged up, I just squirt some boobie juice up there!
* When his eyes were gunky in the first few weeks, boobie juice fixed them right up.
* I have a lower risk of osteoporosis, breast and cervical cancer.
* He is getting the perfect nutrition, his body is perfectly healthy in every way.

Amen to that.
Whenever Liam scratched himself as well, I just quirted some breastmilk on it and it healed so quickly.
I could like to add that I also love breastfeeding because
*its a wonderful comforter for my son
*I can co-sleep and not wake up during the night to heat up bottles
*It helps me lose weight! :D
Great list Queenie.
I agree with everything you've just mentioned.
How about the satisfaction. I just love the feeling that I am providing her with everything she needs. To be honest it till completely amazes me.
P.S She's back to her normal 3 hourly feeds now. Good girl she is.;)

oh good girl Millie  I eat 3 hourly too! Where's that muffin I had earlier...?
I forgot to say it helps me lose weight! Oh hang on... I'm not losing weight!! Why the **** aren't I losing weight, it's not fair, he's on my boob quite a lot.... hmmm I'll think about it while I finish this family block of chocolate
Tanni, the milk up the nose thing, well my MW told me it'll do the same job as saline (for a clogged up nose) and he'll like the taste of it better than saline too! My naturopath says I should give up the dairy, might help with his clogged nose.... but I love my dairy, and it's not overly clogged, a few drops of boobie and he sneezes those boogers out... now back to my cheese platter.....:chef:
Seriously, anyone got any idea why I'm not losing weight??? :p
I blame the bread Queenie, can't go past a nice loaf of bread.:o

Queenie you summed it up perfectly for me  But i also love when Summer comes running to me saying 'nunu's' which means she wants a feed and how close i feel to her while breastfeeding.

HL I'm going to go with that one, it's the bread, yeah yeah the bread *shifty eyes*
Krissy, that is so gorgeous, I love when little ones can say they want it. I can't wait for Curtis to get old enough to say "MUMMY BITTY" (I call it Bitty:laughing: )
what a beautiful thread to start in world breastfeeding week:yelclap: .
all of the above and that it's something i can do for my bub that no one else can- does that sound selfish?:D .
i also love how much she loves it. love the way she pats me while she's feeding:p .
everything queenie said!!
also......
i barely have to wake up to feed him
he keeps we warm at night
he gives me cheeky little smile while sucking boobie
everyone calls me moommy moo cow!

love the way she pats me while she's feeding:p .
oh I love that too!!
Curtis sometimes holds my boob like it's a drink-bottle  and other times he just kinda strokes it as he's feeding *awwwww* :D

I loved feeding as long as I did Becasue I never had the pleasure:rolleyes: of forced weaning from anything, I just ended up not doing it. So easy and no screaming or whinging (apart from me when DS 2 weaned too early at 15 mnths:crying: ).
Go the Boobie Juice:yelclap:
oh everything you said Queenie.
And I have only just (after 12 weeks) mastered the feeding lying in bed thing and OMG how glad am I to be breastfeeding. I just doze off while she feeds. Bliss!
Now to get those damned nappies to change themselves. Oh that's right.. that's what husbands are for.

I use to love it when my DS was feeding and he use to look into to me eyes and give me a big smile while still holding and trying to suck my boobie with his big grin. It was so cute!

And to add to the thread.......all of the above and:
The way he looks up into my eyes like he is seeing into my soul.
The fact that when I lift him from the cot in the night, I can do so and lay back in bed to feed him with out opening my eyes once!
I am a living example, of how to feed a baby naturally, for my children, especially my DD.
I get to smile that smile when someone says, "Is he still on the boob?":D

Oh I second and third everything that has been written, especially the line about bubs seeing into your soul - I feel exactly the same way.
I always knew I would BF my babies for all the reasons you know about, but what I didn't know was how it would make me feel. I didn't know that when he gently stroked my skin and stared into my eyes with a look of such peace and contenment that I would realise why I was put on this earth.
It is such a gift to be able to be a BFing Mum!!

Oh how I miss it :crying: Breastfeeding my baby was a totally miraculous gift.
And I have only just (after 12 weeks) mastered the feeding lying in bed thing and OMG how glad am I to be breastfeeding. I just doze off while she feeds. Bliss!
I just woke up from a nap :p
While we've only been BF for a couple of weeks, I love the way he pulls off my boob and makes a satisfyed "MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm" with milk all over his face :D

I'm really grateful that I can breastfeed my daughter. On the practical (read: lazy!) side there is no washing up, no preparation, no heating or fuss.
I also enjoy it because it is a special, unique bond that I have with her, something that I don't have to share with anyone in the world. I makes me feel wonderful to be able to comfort and nuture her like that.
ohh, one more: i love that when i look at him and he has grown out of clothes or put on weight i think "i did that!!! i fed you! you thrive because of my milk!!" makes me all warm and fuzzy inside:hugs:

All of the above.
This is wonderful to talk about.
I love the fact that something so simple is so good!:yelclap:
I also have a laugh when he plays around while feeding and he pulls off and milk sprays all over his face and he laughs more.

I love the way that the bubs do this little laugh thing when I offer the breast- it's the only thing that they do the same (they're twins)- also when they do sweet things like look into your eyes- or pull off and sit up and give you a kiss then go back to feeding!
I also love the healing properties of breast milk- whenever they (or me) get a scratch or something I put a little bit on- seems to take the sting out and it heals quicker- amazing.
Also- the times they've been sick- i've been so thankful- cause you know that they are getting fluid and you know that your body is making antibodies to help fight their sickness
Also- I love that when they crack the sads together- booby will fix everything in just a few seconds!!
I could go on and on- but I won't

hee hee hee yes, yes it is
That was one of the most hilarious skits I have ever seen!
And I wanted to add, the way his arms pump up and down in anticipation of a feed. When I'm undoing my top/bra, he gets sooo excited and makes this noise, all grunting and excited, while his arms are going a million miles an hour! Kind of like this- :smiliedance:

Don't forget the caress of those tiny, ever so soft fingers, and the sweet milky breath, too.
I loved the way they tried to 'help' you get your top up and the way those little hands held the top up or grasped the fleshy part of your booby. I loved winter nights when you would snuggle in together and drift back off to sleep, and the pure contentment and bliss you knew they felt was wonderful.
I also loved the bf baby breath, and like someone else mentioned, the healing properties, a few drops and conjunctivitis instantly disappears! a few more drops and that nappy rash is gone in an instant!

I just love it so much when just before he latches on, I get the biggest smile I've ever seen and my heart melts. No matter how stressful my day is, I can always slow down and savour those moments.
This thread makes me want to give Liam a big hug, but alas, he is fast asleep
I love the way DS trys to lift my shirt up for a drink of his milk :)
I love the way he laughs and gets so excited when he sees my boobies
I love the way he will have his 'sookies' and insists on having his fingers in my mouth and up my nose :p
I love (acutally i dont, i would if it didnt hurt so much) when he feeds and plays (pinches) my other nipple. If this other nipple is covered up - his little hand will search for it.
I love it when he looks at me with his beautiful blue eyes while he has a sooky
I love the way he pulls off my boob and will push down on my boob and watch milk spray all over his face!!!!!!!!! when it stops he grabs the nipple and examins it.:D
I love the team effort it took to make this breastfeeding relationship work. We had heaps of problems at the start and would have never ever have thought we would make over 11months!
I love how supportive my partner is and how much he has helped us with our BFing.
Thanks guys
Tamz

LMAO everything Tamz said there too!
I love the way he looks at me, and often his eyelids slowly get droopy and he falls asleep curled up in my arms. Always takes me back to the first time I fed him.
I love my supportive Hubby! Telling people off when they have a go at me for still feeding after 12 months
I love the look on people's faces when I say I don't plan to even START weaning till 18 months

There's too many things to mention  I just love it. The ease, the no-nonsense, no-fuss availability (except when your clothing makes it difficult lol)
Though I must admit, the longer you bf, the better it gets. I love the look on her face when she wants a feed, & the little whine when i take too long. Oh & the little giggle just before she latches.
Also, during the feed, i love when MJ looks up at me, gives me the biggest smile, while dribbling milk everywhere  Then, because i'm laughing at her, she starts cracking up as well.
Love the way she pats, rubs, massages me while she feeds, the fingers in my mouth, up my nose...
Cant forget how proud i am of myself to have fed her for this long. So many of my "friends" like to comment that she should be weaned by now etc. They have no idea how comforting it is knowing that i'm giving her the best start to life. Even the days when she decides she doesnt want "food" i know that she is getting so much just from bf.
I love this thread!!!!
I love everything about breastfeeding that has already been said!
I love the fact that even though DD is 8 months old and not eating solids it's no concern cause she is getting everything she needs from breastmilk!
I love that she'll stop drinking, look at my nipple, laugh and then re-latch.
I love that I never have to worry about over-feeding her.
I love the closeness that it brings, the bond that can't be described to anybody that has never bf.
I love that if we're out and she's crying a boob fixes all, no embarassing can't stop her from crying moments!
I love my supportive DBF and supportive family.
I also love that I have a very supportive doctor who praises me everytime we see her.
I love our private moments at 4am when she wakes up for a feed. I never complain about having to get up to her. The odd night that she has slept through I have really missed our special time together and will be sad when it ends.

I want to say thank-you to all the mummies who are posting here. There are some moments when I just feel tired (especially with our sick children the last week or so) and start to worry whether I should "do something" about all our night feeding. But I read these posts and I am renewed in my belief that when the time is right for Hamish, he will let me know. My first two children did this on their own, so I'm sure it will happen with this one too-and then I'll miss it like crazy!
Thank-you BF mummies!!:yelclap:
I can definitely post in this thread even though its only been 5 days, because I know I am going to continue BF because I absolutely love it.
I feel so good that I can nourish my beautiful baby, its empowering.
I love his drunk little face with milk dripping down the side of his mouth when he's finished. P*ssed again, ha ha.
And I am too lazy to do the whole formula thing so I am hoping we can keep going the way we have been so far. We are still learning, but so far its all good.

I love the fact that it is so good for my DS
I love the feeling of closeness that it provides - its something that I can give him that no one else can
And I must be honest and say that the thing I love most about it is the convenience - no heating up bottles when I stumble out of bed in the middle of the night and no need to take loads of feeding paraphenalia with me when I go out.

All of the above!
Though, I think my 14 monther will be weaning shortly. He is only morning and night feeding at the moment... also only feeding out of one breast since 6 months  (I had a few months where my boobs were extremely lop sided, but they are not so bad at the moment.)
I feel kind if sad to know that 'it's almost time', but am also kind of happy... it's bitter sweet y'know?
I love it when he looks up at me while feeding, and stops sucking for a second to give me a smile! It melts my heart :o
I don't need to sterilise my nipples!!!

I love bf my bub because of the way she looks up at me and smiles with a mouth full of nipple! and the way she strokes my arm and hand.
and of course all the reasons people have listed.
I breastfeed my first daughter until she was 3 years and 2 months and I fully intend on doing it just as long with Mari.

Marismum, that is so fantastic you breastfed for so long  :smiliedance: It's really inspiring hearing stories about extended breastfeeding. Did you have any trouble from people making "comments"?
I love it when DD falls asleep and pulls herself off the boob, puts her head back and puckers up her little lips, then keeps sucking away like she's still attached - she looks just beautiful, like a little bird! I don't get that when I bottle feed her!

I love it when I am dog tired and very emotional (like today!) and two children are fighting and the baby wakes and all I have to do is crawl into bed beside him and I can doze too while he feeds and dozes, blocking out the fighting children sounds!
I agree with everyone else's posts but have to put my two cents worth in:
- I love the fact that bf can solve all the hurts, lack of sleep, over-tiredness etc, no matter whether they are a new born or a toddler
- I love the look on their face when they are full and "drunk on milk"
- I love the pats from the little hand while they are feeding
- I love that I provided the sole source of nutrition for my girls for their first 6 months, I was so proud of my beautiful babies and that I had helped them get there in the best way possible
- I love that I kept feeding each of them until I was into my pregnancy with the next (although it does feel a little like a non-stop pregnancy/breatfeeding wheel after 4 years!)
- I love that it helps me lose weight and maintain my metabolism in a way nothing else has ever done!
- I love that it acts as a great contraceptive until I start cutting back on feeds:rolleyes:
- I love the fact that my over endowed chest actually works the way it is meant to and doesn't just provide great cleavage!
I love how I went to the DR's last week to ask about dents in my legs and she told me it was fat dissapearing from breastfeeding :D x 1000
I love how it's free
it's there
She gazes at me pulls off smiles ear to ear and latches back on
I just love it I love it so much
I love how Riley will have boobie in his mouth then start sticking his fingers in my mouth so I will pretend to bite them.He starts chuckling with his mouth full-its so cute!
And I love that drunk look he gets on his face when hes guzzling his milk or how he easily falls asleep on the boob.If hes grumpy or overtired, the booby does wonders!!
And now hes so curious of the boob-he will play with the nipples to suss them out,or if I have no top on,he just lunges at the boob with his mouth wide open:laughing:
I LOVE BREASTFEEDING!!What a great thread:yelclap:

Thanks
A few people in my Family made "comments" but I just ignored them because it felt right to do it, the bond we have is very special and I think it contributed to it.
Also when she was sick with anything and wouldnt or couldnt eat I knew she was getting what she needed from BM and the comfort aswell.
Breastfeeding is the best!

I love it when he's half asleep, eyes closed and snuggled up close against me while feeding - I just gaze at him trying to capture the moment so I'll never forget how amazing it feels...his little pudgy fingers on my chest...him smiling up at me while his mouth is full..when I get caught out somewhere longer than I erxpected its not a problem-milk on tap!...I can't believe my milk alone is growing this gorgeous, adorable little boy....his milky breath after a feed...EVERYTHING! He's just waking up so I'm going to go and cuddle him and then sit back and relax while he feeds and snuggles.   (lots of warm fuzzy feelings going on here!)

I just wanted to say how encoraged i feel after reading this tread. I had a horrible time trying to BF my boy when he was first born, a combination of flat nipples and a tiny mouth I'm told, so we used nipple sheilds for the first 6 weeks, he was the one who got the hang of things! He threw such a tantrum trying to latch onto the darn thing that i just cudded himand let him scream. then he stopped screaming all of a sudden and we were away!! I was ready to quit so many times, but now i wouldn't have it any other way.
What I love most is the way he holds onto my breast as if he's giving me a hug, makes myt heart melt and my eye fill with tears.
Now its time for more boobie juice, every 2 hrs today, must be having a growth spurt!

Speaking of the wonders of breast milk. I used it to clean DS cord stump when it got a bit infected. Cleared it up in no time.
