Getting Ink out of Carpet?

Hello all!! I need to get red permanent ink out of my lovely new cream carpet!!! Does anyone have any hints?? I have tired the orange power carpet cleaner, but it just changed it to pretty bright pink!!!:crying: :crying:

For a new cream carpet I would be calling in a professional. whatever it costs would be worth it.

I just have to ask though - new cream carpet...and little kids....:laughing:

Sounds bizarre but I know Huggies baby wipes can get most stains out of cream coloured carpet. I have used them to get ink out of DH's shirt pockets.

otherwise here's a suggestion from my Domestic Bliss book:

"Dab the mark with methylated spirits or rubbing alcohol using a cotton bud or sponge and working from the back of the stain. Rinse once the stain is gone."

i have a coffee stain that nothing seems to get rid of :( its on grey carpet
creme carpet and kids hehehe i hope you like cleaning it :D

Get some napisan oxyaction (pink one) and make it into a paste and apply it to the stain. Let it sit there for awhile and then get some old towels and some water and remove the paste and tip some water on and dry it with the towel, dont let the water soak into your carpet too much as it could cause brown marks to come up from the underlay. This happened to me. Just keep putting the water on and drying it like you are rinsing it. i got dried in red cordial stains out like this, and some food colouring. Hope it works for you.

soda water and bicarb soda is fabulous!

For most inks, methylated spirit is superb.Just dab it on and the ink lifts out.

Coffee is a different beast, not sure what is best.

My DH dug up some interesting info that has been invaluable. Make a napisan oxyaction paste then mix it with a 1:10 solution of the detergent you would normally use for that item ie, washing powder for clothing or carpet cleaner for carpets. BUT test it in a hidden area first!!!!!

Lily Pollen - Turpentine. Once had a huge stain on my rented unit's brand new cream carpet. Worked a treat. Phew!

I just got my carpets professionally cleaned on Thursday. On the guarantee slip it has a stain removal guide and for Ink and texta colour it says to use Methylated Spirits and insure the area is well ventilated. :thumbsup:
